Big Sioux Recreation Area

South Dakota is known for it’s big game, big fish, and amazing parks, and Big Sioux Recreation Area is no exception. This southeastern gem is near Brandon and Sioux Falls, right on the Big Sioux River, a wilderness that begs to be seen, explored, and fished in. This summer, you can enjoy archery, hiking, camping, canoeing, and in the winter you’ll have to try snowmobiling. In addition, the mountain biking, horseback riding, and the awesome disc golf course takes this park over the top and provides fun for everyone. Don’t miss the Archery Trail, a windy wilderness tour with 13 stop-and-shoot points, the two mile Bike Trail where you can gaze at the evening fireflies along the river, and the semi-strenuous Valley of the Giants Trail, a shady hike with an awe-inspiring view of some of the largest trees in the state.
