The babbling creek was so peaceful to listen to! It was a great site. Our teardrop uses solar and the area we choose within the site was perfect! We were also able to use our starlink mini as well. We hung the hammock next to the creek. It was so relaxing! It was nice when reserving the site to have the option of getting firewood delivered to our site. The host, Alvy, was friendly and helpful as well.

It's extremely expensive for what it is. You get a picnic table and a fire ring, and a port a potty a ways away. That's it, and it costs double the price of a state park campsite. That said, it was at least clean and pleasant and fairly quiet, although there is a road not that far away, and the creek is very nice.

Tree Sawyer (Site 1)
Huge area right along a stream. We only spent one night but enjoyed the space. Some areas were soupy due to all the recent rain but we easily found a dry area. Check in was easy and the site was very manageable. Beautiful area!
What a gem! I had campsite 2. It was easy to drive in and out. Plenty of space with a running creek so close that it just lulled you to sleep every night! The port-a-potty was THE CLEANEST ONE that I ever had to use. The owners are super nice and highly responsive. This is a must visit site!
We loved our camp site at Austin Dam! Everything was beautifully taken care of, we really enjoyed learning about the ruins and relaxing around the meadow at our site. We look forward to booking another trip here in the future!

Nice, next to a babbling brook.
Primitive. Good for tents or vans.
Austin Dam has become our annual camping trip! Alvy is a phenomenal host and we come back to see him just as much as the camping itself. Our dogs love the ample space to explore and run around the campsite and we love being able to take a dip in the (chilly) water! The site itself has lots of amenities and privacy.
Good place for going basic camping and getting closer to nature.

Saw Filer (Site 4)
Austin Dam Memorial Park has it all! From cold plunging in Freeman Run to exploring the ruins and stargazing at night, this place is truly magical. We stayed at Saw Filer (Site 4). It was secluded with lots of room to spread out and trails that lead to the ruins and a peaceful spot along the run. Already dreaming of my next visit! Next time I hope to explore more of the trails.

We had a great stay! The campsite was big with multiple spots we could put our tent and lots of trees to hang the hammocks. There was another large group at the next site, but we couldn’t hear them from our site. Our only complaint is that the other group accessed the trails through the edge of our site- I’m not sure if that was on them or just the layout of the sites. Despite this small thing we would still stay again and recommend Austin Dam!

My son and I rode to the spot and pre ordered fire wood. It was the best decision we made, the site was clear and exactly as described. The bathrooms were clean and the grounds were in great shape. Looking forward to our next trip and sending folks up that way.
This was a beautiful and secluded spot! about 5 feet down from the camp road. Easy access to a creek and not too far from facilities. Though the site was well shaded under trees, we could walk 50 feet and have a good view of the sky. However we did not have good weather! They were very accommodating and offered a refund for the first day we missed due to wicked storms. A great spot, we definitely recommend site 4 and we’d love to come back!
Highly highly recommend staying here!! The park is beautifully kept and really private. The swimming hole by the dam ruins was a perfect way to cool off after a hot day. Lots of wildlife, space to spread out at the campsite, and trails. Special shoutout to Alvie who manages the park and Hipcamp page, it was great to meet you and your passion for the park shines! Thanks a bunch, we had a great time!
This was a terrific place to camp for primitive campers! The remains of the Austin Dam and the history of the town itself brought us to this destination and we plan on returning again. The park at the dam is kept nice clean and tidy. From the dam there are mowed paths to the campsites above and below. Freeman Run is a nice medium size stream to wade or sit in to keep cool. There are sites for RVs but as we tent camp we cant comment much on the hook ups there or extent of them. There is one restroom area at the dam with running water. The firewood we bought there burned well for us. All and all for primitive camping like we do I give it a 5 star rating out of 5. The only drawback a person or group may have is the road noise from 872 but its not a road that's used much so the traffic is sporadic and intermittent during peek travel hours. During the night we didn't hear any traffic at all.

We recently stayed at campsite 4 and it was such a great experience! We enjoyed our time sitting by the fire, listening to nature and going to Cherry Springs State Park. The site was spacious and private which we loved. We will definitely be visiting again!

Our 2nd trip Troop 416 has taken to Austin Dam. Highly recommended this campground. Great facilities and the nicest host. Looking forward to being back again in a few years.
We loved our stay at Austin Dam! We stayed at site #6. We had trees to hang hammocks and open sky for the stars! The site was nice and tidy and our wood that we pre ordered was waiting for us when we arrived. The Porto John by our site was also very clean and convenient. We were in at 5:45pm and out by 11am the next, so we didn’t do a ton of exploring, but the Dam was cool to see and walk around at sunset before settling down. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking to get away and enjoy some solid.

The tent site that I reserved was massive and could accommodate more tents if needed. firewood was already cut and stacked and waiting for us when we got there which was awesome because it rained. thanks for covering it up. the park was fun to hike through and read about the history of the area. we came for the night sky and were not disappointed. The site was clean and well maintained and you could hear the Freeman run at night which was very relaxing.

The campsite was super sweet! Quiet spot with lots of great places to get a view of the night sky. Staff was pretty hands off but was also super friendly when we messed up our reservation. Way better than my experiences at the local state parks.
Ample room for my camper. The grounds were groomed and a porta potty near by. There’s a trout stream there so don’t forget your license and fishing pole. The history surround the dam is worth the visit. I brought my motorcycle with me to ride the local roads which was not disappointed.
This is our 5th year in a row coming back. That should say how much we appreciate Austin Dam. Always a great experience ave the host is super helpful.

Another wonderful stay at Austin Dam Memorial Park. The staff is very helpful with great communication. They are also very knowledgable about the surrounding areas and what to see while hiking and exploring. Took my Scout troop and all the scouts had a fantastic time and loved the views of the stars at night!
Wide open spaces with beautiful scenery and a trout pond in the back. Port-a-john clean. Some truck noise from road.

The park is well maintained and SUPER clean. I like that the sites are large and you feel like you are camping with your neighbors.
This will surely be a place to revisit at every season- we already booked our next stay!
My sister and I live about 10 hours away from each other. We decided to have a spontaneous long weekend away to camp.

We appreciated the privacy, the aesthetically pleasing sites, the babbling creek and the nice walk to the dam ruins.
We are already planning a return again this Summer and Fall!
Great spot! Directions that were sent were perfect. Sites were clearly marked, which was really appreciated since we pulled in at night in the rain. Firewood was delivered to our site and under a tarp (again, super appreciated) We had a great stay. Secluded, we didn’t have to speak to anyone the whole 2 days we were there. Stars were beautiful at night. Also, had decent cell service, which I was surprised by. No frills, just nature.
Did some drive-up tent camping here with some friends in October and had a great time! We had site 8 which was nice and secluded with a wonderful view of the autumn colors. Easy access to hikes to the old paper mill and Austin Dam right from our campsite. Porta-potty was right nearby and sparkly clean. And we had full cell service too (T-Mobile).
