When to Go
Day-trippers and campers descend on the lake in the summer months, and the park can get busy, especially on weekends. Expect crowds at the campground and picnic areas. Camping is possible year-round, although some sites close in winter. Bird-watching is best during the spring and winter migrations, while off-season campers can enjoy seasonal activities such as ice fishing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.
Know Before You Go
- Indian Lake State Park is northwest of Columbus, about a 1-hour 10-minute drive away. The main entrance to the park and campground is on the north side of the lake, but the park also encompasses the Moundwood area at the south side and the lake islands.
- There are no entrance fees for Ohio State parks, but camping and reservation fees apply. Ohio fishing licenses are also required.
- Facilities include restrooms, picnic areas, boat launches, and fishing piers. A number of restaurants, general stores, and bait shops dot the lakeshore.
- There is unlimited horsepower at the lake, and you can bring your own watercraft. Swimming is permitted at the two beaches and four designated swim areas.
- There are ADA-accessible campsites, restrooms, and boat launches.
