Being on the river was nice. I would stay there just one or two nights at the most. The road is directly next to the campsites.
There is an outhouse/port a John next to the river right in front of the sites. This should be moved so it isnt in your view of the river.

The portajohn was in the middle of the view of the river and disgusting (need to be cleaned/emptied). There was only 1/2 a picnic table available for use.
The views are of the river were amazing!

Spots were level, views were great. We had two rigs with 30ft trailers that traversed both the entrance and exits with ease. Randy’s communication was great, highly recommend!

Owner is super responsive and friendly! The entrance is a bit steep, but doable. The sites are level and the hookups are very well designed. Great views as well!

November 2024 camping.....Randy was very responsive and kind. Great for a weekend get away, grandkids loved the barges, shells, and campfire. Area is not like a campground, (no trails or hiking) but fun. Bet it's great in summer to put in a kayak! Very nice having a concrete pad. Make sure your items are very secure before pulling a camper up or down the steep drive, I had a jar shift and break but it was on me for not securing. Looks of the drive can be intimidating, but it was no problem getting in or out. Very close to main road but road was not excessively busy.

It’s a very nice well kept location right on the river bank. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Low traffic road close but super quiet all night. Will go back again.

What a beautifully awesome campsite. Right off The Ohio River, I could barely leave my seat. So cool watching the different boats and barges float by. Oh yeah and the host were great. There for anything I needed. I would highly recommend.

Relaxing stay. Enjoyed 2 nights, it was dark and quiet. We even enjoyed watching the Perseid Meteor shower right from our spot. Randy gave us great directions beforehand. Could've done without the porta potty right in the middle but understand some people might like that feature. The view and relaxation would bring us back.

Great view of Ohio river, fun to watch the occasional barge go up or down the river. Well maintained site, very level, just park and plug in. Not much traffic noise considering closeness of the road as it is minimally traveled.

What a lovely property!
The host had a stack of wood ready for us to enjoy the beautiful evening on the Ohio River. We watched boats and barges pass by on the river. It’s an absolutely lovely spot to stay an evening or a week. My kids enjoyed fishing in the river. My teens enjoyed visiting with a friend. The porta potty was very clean. Hookups were as advertised and the pad was level.
The property access was steeper than I realized. Unfortunately we had a visitor that slid off the driveway and needed to be towed out. I would not recommend this property for anyone with a small front wheel drive vehicle. Take it slow and any four wheel drive vehicle can access.
If the steep access does not scare you, this Hip Camp is one you don’t want to miss!!

The drive way is was quite steep and a little scary for this newbie but we made it without issue. The view made it worth it. Randy communicated well. Everything was as described. Don’t miss the sunrise!!!

Nice spot, good views, clean-ish Porta Potty. Overall a good stay. Super close to a semi-busy road but it was a quiet night. Also, the three pads are pretty close to each other - we ended up being alone anyway (probably because it is January). Liquor and General store less than 2 miles away. 7/10 would stay again.

The outward view was spectacular! It was everything we were hoping it would be. At night, the sky was full of stars. I might have missed it in the listing, but there was a fire pit ready to go with a pile of wood right along the side. Great little spot.

We enjoyed our stay at A Notch Above. Very relaxing watching barges pass by and boaters having fun. The grass was mowed and weeds trimmed very nicely kept.. We'll certainly book again sometime in the future. Thank you for sharing your mighty Ohio riverfront spot with us!

Full hook-up, level pad and a great view of the river. Steep entrance and exit not for the faint of heart . We have a small rig so it wasn't a big deal. Loved watching the barges on the river. Within an hour of many fun things to do.

We had a great time. Randy had wood waiting for us by the fire ring. All we had to do was park and set up. The views are wonderful. It was a quiet, serene location (there are trucks that drive by occasionally, but it wasn't bad). We went out to the nearby casino Saturday night. We went in November so we couldn't spend too much time outside. I would love to come back in the summer and bring friends. A great place to bring kayaks.

Absolutely charming! We had a lovely stay! This site is quaint and private. Our kids loved fishing on the bank, the expansive stars, and making s’mores but the fire. We had a little snafu when we arrived because the site was double booked by randy took great care in making sure no one had to move in the middle of the night! We were able to pull into a different site and we made it work. We had lovely neighbors. Water, electric and sewage and a FLAT concrete pad was awesome too.
The hill down is Steep! Be prepared to go very slow and careful but that was the only thing. At his site was one of my favs and we will definitely be back!
