Spur of the Moment Resort provides a unique experience as it resides on the Nicolet Recreational Trail at the Southern End of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Booking a campsite, rustic camping cabin, or log cabin gives you direct access to the trails and a recreational wonderland. The Nicolet Trail is a 90 mile long trail that connects ATV's and UTV's to all of our trails in Oconto County, Marinette County, Forest County, Florence County, Langlade County, and the upper peninsula of Michigan. The farm has been in the family for four generations. We don't have any livestock anymore and rent the fields to the neighbors but the home, outbuildings and five acres are well-loved and used as our home base and also for rustic weddings, graduation parties, reunions and barn dances. In 1974, the farm was used as the location for the TV movie "Things in Their Season" starring Patricia O'Neal. We put up one of the first barn quilts in the county and are on the route of the Bike the Barn Quilts bike ride (held last Saturday in September.) We do not even use the cut wood in the summer, spring, or fall. My young children and I have worked hard to clear those sites and cut wood for our own personal use in the winter so please respect the effort we have put in so we can continue to enjoy our land and share this beautiful location with others. There is no electric or water so please plan your trip accordingly. Please leave no trace and carry out what you bring in. There are no toilets available so you will need to provide your own portable toilet. Peeing on a tree is fine, but no pooping in holes. If you chose to drive down to the campsite by the creek you are doing so at your own risk as vehicles have gotten stuck trying to get back up especially after a rain fall and had to get towed out. It is recommended you park up on top and walk the short distance down. ATV/UTV are fine going down to the creek campsite. The long driveway has plenty of room for multiple vehicles, trailers, and boats. Absolutely no hunting or shooting of guns is allowed on the property. Bears have been seen on the property so please use bear safe camping practices. If your children use the ninja line or hammocks on site they do so at their own risk and we are not held liable for any injuries that may occur. You may notice a zip line. The seat will be removed and is not to be tampered with or used. Quiet time is between 10pm-6am. No illegal activity (including fireworks) are allowed. You may see us up there but we will respect your privacy and space. We welcome company and conversation but also respect you may prefer to be left alone. Discover our 9-acre haven nestled against the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Explore numerous trails right off the property for your ATV/UTV, dirt bike, or snowmobile adventures. A brief trail ride leads you to the scenic Peshtigo River and Brown Lake, while the charming town of Crandon, WI, is just under 20 minutes away. For a delightful family day out, head to Lake Metonga and enjoy a boat ride. This property has 2 entrances, an easement off of a dirt road on the north side of the property. This is for vehicles that can handle off roading. There is a clearing just after the curve with a private property sign, this where the campsite is located. If you see the cabin, you’ve gone too far. A fire pit is located at the campsite with some wood. Please do not cut down any trees on the property but downed trees can be used for fire wood. Whiting Creek gracefully flows through the property and friendly deer are frequent visitors. Embrace the beauty of nature and a variety of recreational opportunities at our picturesque property! We ask that all camper’s take with them what they bring onto the property. There are garbage and recycling cans just before the bend you may use. We ask that you provide your own either portable camp toilet or use the restroom in an RV if you bring one. Water can be provided upon request.

We had a great time visiting this site. There is a lot to do in the area and a nice dog beach in walking distance from the site so our pups were in heaven! We also rented a boat from twin bridge four seasons and enjoyed the gorgeous lake 🤩.

We had a wonderful stay at this Hipcamp site! It was so close to so many great activities and restaurants! The site was very clean and the startup firewood they left for free was very nice since we didn't get in until late. It was also nice to be able to purchase more on site! The site does sit close to the road, so we were a little concerned about our dogs, but we were able to park to block off some of the view and we didn't have any issues. Lori was super nice to work with and was thankfully close by to help us jump start our vehicle on the last day! lol (never fails) We rented a boat from Popps Marina (super affordable and friendly people) and we ate dinner at Rene's Supper Club. We are already trying to plan a trip back to the area!

My husband and I stayed at Judith's this past weekend and had a blast. She made sure that everything was just right. Nice and clean. She had firewood ready for us. We also loved that there was a gate for us to close once we were in for the night. She also had free range chickens 🐔 that came to visit once we had arrived. I also have to mention Woodys Bar and grill, awesome food!!! Thanks again Judy, we will be back!

Exactly as advertised - super responsive and helpful host. Full hookups for the camper-trailer were really convenient and easily accessible. Private space with bonfires at night was a treat and being right down the road from the state park made for plenty of fun daytime activities.

It was peaceful, even though you heard road noise. It truly was peaceful. Loved the location, close to everything, we went atving and trails were just down road. The property was very well maintained, nicely set up. We will definitely be back many times. Not sure I want to recommend it because I would like to keep our little secret, but it was wonderful.
