The famous 'Driftless Books' is also found in Viroqua, along with live music on Court Street every other Saturday. We are 22 miles from the Kickapoo Valley Reserve, and a bit further North, from Ontario WI, one may embark by canoe or kayak, through some of the most stunning landscape to be found in Wisconsin. This area is called The Driftless because it lacks glacial drift, which refers to the deposits of silt, gravel and rock that glaciers would have left behind had they passed through this part of Southwestern Wisconsin. The area is unique in that the land here was never flattened by the ice that came through most of the Midwest during the last glacial period/ice age. When glaciers were in surrounding areas, the melt-water sometimes made its way into the Driftless Area and contributed to the formation of the valleys and bluffs which characterize the landscape, which is known for steep hills, forested ridges, deeply carved river valleys, and karst geology with caves and spring-fed cold water trout streams. Ecologically, the Driftless Area's flora and fauna are more closely related to those of the Great Lakes region and New England than those of the broader Midwest and central Plains regions.

I'm situated right between Wisconsin Dells and Lyndon Station on a cozy little 3 acer corner lot of Highway 12 and Oak Glen Circle. Cozy little property of mostly White Oak Trees that I've done my best to preserve. The place is large and spacious and offers little hiking trails that circle the property. I've attracted nesting Bluebirds, Robins, and Ruby Throated Hummingbirds year after year. You'll find several bird feeders that attract a very large variety of birds beyond what's mentioned as well as the squirrels, rabbits, and woodchucks that all call the place home. Now I do have surrounding neighbors but its a very quiet neighborhood of home owners. No renters. You're within 3 miles of Wisconsin Dells. 2 miles of River Bay Wisconsin River access and boat launch. Bring your boat up. And see one of the best spots on the entire Wisconsin River has to offer! 1 mile from the Dells Motor Speedway. The features races everyday Saturday night and the track has a long history of racing with a large following. Sure to offer some excitement. I've seen countless races myself! 1 mile from Chubby's Exotic Resort. Hey no shame lol. Men welcome. Women welcome. Couple welcome. Chubby's is a premiere resort and offers the best experience in the state. The sister club the Edge directly across the street also often offers live music on the weekends as well as a full menu of food. Lots of things to do in the area. Wisconsin Dells offers a large variety of activities and restaurants. This is my first time listing on Hipcamp. I'm still learning. Weekend Trip to Elysian View Farms

This was one of the best Hipcamp stays I've ever had. Christine truly thought of everything and it was clear from the moment I arrived how much care and attention went into the property and guest experience. The location was perfect. Within just a few miles, I was able to visit an Amish bakery, candy store, variety store, "Amish Walmart" and other local shops. There were also several canoeing and kayaking outfitters nearby for anyone wanting to enjoy the Kickapoo River. The living space stayed plenty cool while it was 85 degrees out and there were fans in each room. The main bedroom also had a little space heater for when the temperature dropped. My favorite part was the beautiful wooded area on the property. I loved driving the mile-long path back to the woods and then spending time walking the trails with my dogs. It was peaceful, quiet, and exactly the kind of escape I was looking for. Sitting in the shade, listening to the wind through the trees, and spending time with my dogs was the highlight of my trip. Also, I didn't have any problems with mosquitoes or ticks while I was there. I left wishing I had booked a longer stay. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in the heart of Amish country. Oh, and bring enough cash! Between all the Amish shops, purchasing some organic beef from Christine and visiting her farm stand, I almost ran out and it's like a 15 minute drive to Ontario for an ATM machine.

If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place to ‘glamp’, look no further! Echo valley farm is made up of a handful of rustic cabins (no plumbing, but yes electricity) that offered my wife and I a nice place to cook a few meals, listen to the birds, have a fire, and rest our heads. The shared outdoor shower served us well after a day floating down the nearby Kickapoo River. Dena was a very accommodating host that made sure we had everything we needed. Being able to buy some cinnamon rolls from their bakery was the cherry on top. The overall vibe offers a nice mix of humble farmer, DIY, community dwelling energy that we greatly enjoyed. Bonus points for the library of books on homesteading, straw clay house construction, and poetry. We definitely plan to come back.

Weekend Trip to Elysian View Farms

What a little piece of heaven that we needed for the weekend. We did all the Amish things, had great local food, LOVED petting the calves, and relax by the fire at night with a beautiful sunset! Breezy on the ridge, so no mosquito bites. Christine is a sweet, attentative host. Will def be back ☺️

2 nights at Echo Valley Farm

The trip to this beautiful cabin was like coming home. We only were there for three nights but this place will live in my heart forever. What a warm farm full of love this is. We were so grateful to have found the special place to unplug, touch the earth and listen to the multitudes of lucky birds that live in the orchard. We were treated to not one, but two rooster led chicken parades up to the cabin. Cannot recommend this place enough. The scones from the bakery were out of this world. 25 stars out of 5.

Beautiful views!!! Charming living quarters. Christine made sure you have the essentials such as gas grill, coffee pot, microwave, crock pot and electric skillet and cooking utensils. There is no refrigerator or stove so make sure to bring ice. Full size bed is very comfortable . There is a porta potty close to the building. There is talk about a portable shower coming this summer. Very quiet and lovely stay.

I had a great time at the hidden cabin site! It was nice to walk on the trails and see the other cabins. Nobody was there when I went, so I had privacy to meditate and relax without any noise. They said it was tick and mosquito treated. I saw 1 mosquito the entire weekend. I would recommend trying it out.

We adored our stay at Elysian View Farm. The view is indeed spectacular, especially at sunset, and the rural surroundings, both agricultural and natural are stunning. But even more beautiful, for us, was the warmth, kindness, and generosity of our hosts, Christine and Dave. They made us feel special and cared about, helped us find a beautiful fishing spot, and treated us like family. We are honored and blessed to have been their guests.

We had a wonderful stay at Echo Valley for a father–son getaway. The cabin was warm and cozy, and the wood-fired stove created the perfect atmosphere after a day exploring the Driftless hills. We played guitar, sketched in our notebooks, cooked good food, and enjoyed the quiet together. We especially appreciated the proprietors’ thoughtful focus on sustainability. A perfect rustic place to slow down and reconnect.
