While most of the State was covered and scraped by glaciers of the last Ice Age, this small section of the State was not. Hence, its geology remained intact. Lisney Grand is a two story, two bedroom one bath cabin with an additional large sleeping loft. Open floor plan includes a full kitchen, dining area and living space with a cathedral ceiling. The cabin and grounds are filled with original art from artists across the United States (some available for purchase). Enjoy the beautiful sunsets and amazing views of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve State Park (8,600 acres) while swinging on the porch swing located on the porch that wraps around 3 sides of the cabin. There is NO RUNNING WATER, but the cabin does have an electric water cooler on site that offers both hot and cold water options (bring your own water to fill the 5-gallon container). Additionally, you'll find a small refrigerator with freezer, microwave, two electric heaters for warmth, a hot water kettle, and a Chemex for your coffee brewing needs. Dishes, cookware, blankets and pillows provided (byo sheet set).
***As of August 2024, the property now features a portable toilet ('porta potty') for your convenience, and the compostable toilet is no longer available.

This property is located in a rural setting, so you can expect to hear occasional noise from passing farm equipment and trucks. Also note that while we do our best to keep nature outside the cabin, be aware that bugs and mice do sometimes happen.
As a guest at Driftless Retreat, you're responsible for leaving the cabin in clean condition. Please wash all dishes, place all furniture in its original setting and remove all trash and recyclables from the property upon departure (take extra care to make sure there is absolutely no food left in the cabin).

The Tiny House is a mostly off-grid cabin tucked into the Driftless Hills of southwest Wisconsin. We are about 5 miles west of La Farge and 10 miles east of Viroqua. Nestled in the woods, the space offers peace, quiet, and a chance to reconnect with nature. The property is private, yet not completely secluded, as there are other cabins and my home are 75-100 yards of the tiny house. You’ll have your own yard and fire pit. The tiny house sleeps 2–4 people comfortably, with room for an additional tent in the yard. The maximum occupancy for the site (tiny house and tent) is 6 people total. The tiny house is fully furnished with queen mattress, futon, plates, cups, etc~ just bring your own food and bedding (blankets and pillows)!
Outside, enjoy a fire pit, a small grill, and the quiet beauty of the surrounding landscape. We have three friendly outdoor cats who may come by to say hello. They love people and food, so please be mindful of not feeding them and keeping a close eye on your meals if you choose to eat outside.
The tiny house includes electricity, a full refrigerator, and a stovetop with oven. While there is no running water inside, fresh water is available just steps away for drinking and washing up. We also provide an outdoor, chemical-free porta potty.
We are located across the street from Otter Creek, a popular trout fishing stream. Within a few miles, you’ll find additional fishing, hiking trails, kayaking and canoeing access, farmers markets, Amish shops, and a vibrant mix of local organic food, arts, and handmade goods.
We’ll meet briefly at the start of your stay to go over the space, and afterward, you’ll have full freedom to enjoy the land and your own rhythm. I’m happy to say hello if we’re around or to answer any questions, but I also value my privacy.

The Tiny House is a mostly off-grid cabin tucked into the Driftless Hills of southwest Wisconsin. We are about 5 miles west of La Farge and 10 miles east of Viroqua. Nestled in the woods, the space offers peace, quiet, and a chance to reconnect with nature. The property is private, yet not completely secluded, as there are other cabins and my home are 75-100 yards of the tiny house. You’ll have your own yard and fire pit. The tiny house sleeps 2–4 people comfortably, with room for an additional tent in the yard. The maximum occupancy for the site (tiny house and tent) is 6 people total. The tiny house is fully furnished with queen mattress, futon, plates, cups, etc~ just bring your own food and bedding (blankets and pillows)!
Outside, enjoy a fire pit, a small grill, and the quiet beauty of the surrounding landscape. We have three friendly outdoor cats who may come by to say hello. They love people and food, so please be mindful of not feeding them and keeping a close eye on your meals if you choose to eat outside.
The tiny house includes electricity, a full refrigerator, and a stovetop with oven. While there is no running water inside, fresh water is available just steps away for drinking and washing up. We also provide an outdoor, chemical-free porta potty.
We are located across the street from Otter Creek, a popular trout fishing stream. Within a few miles, you’ll find additional fishing, hiking trails, kayaking and canoeing access, farmers markets, Amish shops, and a vibrant mix of local organic food, arts, and handmade goods.
We’ll meet briefly at the start of your stay to go over the space, and afterward, you’ll have full freedom to enjoy the land and your own rhythm. I’m happy to say hello if we’re around or to answer any questions, but I also value my privacy.

While the weather was rought, our family enjoyed the novelty of glamping on the 'ship'. Our accomodations were warm and cozy despite night temps in the 30's, and we loved playing cards and hanging out in the small galley. It was also a plus to have the Dells nearby for activites during a rainy day.

Our family loved this camping site, absolutely beautiful!! Having coffee while watching the sunrise was my favorite part. Our boys played soccer, went fishing and swimming. Our dogs have never had so much fun! Seth was a great host and we will definitely stay here again.

Charming efficiency stay, this tiny house was a great hub for exploring the Dells and Devil's Lake. We nearly had the whole campground to ourselves in early October. The tiny house had a small fridge, range top and coffee maker, TV/DVD player we didn't use and the queen bed up top was cozy. Outdoor shower and sinks indoors had very limited hot water but the restrooms were very clean and comfortable.

Christine and her place were wonderful! So friendly and accommodating and the barn is absolutely adorable! So many sweet details and incredibly clean and comfortable! Shared the back bedroom with my kiddo with no problems and a grandparent stayed in the smaller bedroom and we were all very comfortable! The animals were wonderful and the location and property are absolutely beautiful! The cleanest and nicest port-a-potty I have ever seen! Highly recommend and we just tried some of Christine's Christmas pickles and they are delicious!

Weekend Trip to Lower Wisconsin State Riverway
Great experience! Had our own secluded side of the island. Great spot, had plenty of shallow swimming holes to choose from. The dogs had loads of sandy beach to run on. Seth was more than helpful. On our second day he checked on us to see if we needed anything. We ran a bit low on ice so he delivered us some with his jet boat. I’d do it again

Absolutely would recommend Justin’s Trails. Came in late and was extremely well taken care of. Breakfast was fabulous. Dogs had a chance to exercise after traveling cooped up for a long time l. Great people- lovely accommodations! Ask about the player piano!

We had a wonderful 4 person, 3 generation summer trip to the beautiful driftless. We were comfortable as a group of 4. The bedrooms were attached to a cute living/rec area in the barn charmingly decorated & filled w/ homemade jams, pickles, produce, ice cream, cookies, etc. available for purchase at good prices.(NOTE: that part is open to the public & we had surprise visitors once). The dilly beans were our favorite, we could have eaten 5 quarts! The property itself is quite beautiful with many artistic features and surrounded by Amish farms on the lush green, rolling hills. You can hear the “clip clop” of horse-drawn buggies. In the morning and evening, hummingbirds buzzed all around the many small gardens in the expansive yard. If you are in the mood to saunter, you can take a stroll in just about any direction. The Belties (black cows w/ a white middle) were shy at first but they allowed us to give them treats on our 2nd day. The calves were affectionate from the start! There was a bench positioned for watching the sunset, and the night sky was filled w/ stars & the band of the Milky Way. The fire pit was safe & sturdy w/ an attachable grill & plenty of free wood for a nice fire. Importantly, the address is w/in a short drive to many regional attractions, incl Wildcat Mountain State Park, the Kickapoo Valley Reserve & Elroy-Sparta State Trail, along with many other trails, lakes & streams. We loved Elysian and have plans to visit again soon.
