There is only one farm past ours so road traffic is very minimal. Plenty of room to do what you and your pets want to do while exploring our 60 acres. The sun rises up behind the view and lets you see just a little further. It is nothing short of amazing. The sunrises are always different and some are the most beautiful you have ever seen. The mornings sunrise and the stars out here on a clear night are two of the best things this mountain has to offer. It will not disappoint. We can accommodate up to a 35ft RV. The best part is no long walks, you can park at the campsites and camp on flat ground. Each campsite features chairs, a bench, a swing and a camp cooktop that is fueled by your campfire. Nothing is needed to use the cook tops other than a campfire. The local area has lots to do. Several National Parks, rivers and trails. View stars as only those miles away from any light can experience. The crickets and whippoorwills will sing you to sleep. The Byrd's Nest is a river front, primitive campsite on the scenic Cacapon River in Great Cacapon, WV. The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or/ contribute to it! :)
This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out.
There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :)
*Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable.

Meadowcroft is a semi-primitive cabin on the bank of the beautiful Meadow River. Swim, fish, and hang out with the river otters. It's like camping, but with a roof over your head, WiFi, A/C in the summer, and a cozy wood stove in the winter. A large lawn with fire ring fronts a long section of lazy river (perfect for paddleboarding, tubing, canoeing, etc.), with worldclass whitewater beginning about a mile downstream. Premium bouldering is two miles away, Meadow sport climbing 10 min., Summersville Lake 15 min., and all other NRG-area climbing and National Park within a 25-min radius.

The cabin is a lovingly souped-up Amish-built shed. Like camping, you bring your own sleeping gear and most of your cooking gear, and you pack everything out and tidy up after yourself. ***Please take all trash with you when you leave. THERE IS A $100 CHARGE FOR TRASH LEFT BEHIND***
This is a self-cleaning cabin, which means *you clean up after yourself to prepare for the next guest* (not that it cleans itself, unfortunately). This keeps the costs down for all the guests.

The Gesundheit! Institute was founded by Patch Adams, M.D. + continues to function as a nonprofit focused on community health initiatives. We host many educational workshops throughout the year so make sure you check out upcoming events on our website at patchadams.org !
The beautiful Greenbrier River (the location of our favorite swimming hole) is a 5 minute drive down Locust Creek Rd + a 2 minute drive to the historic Locust Creek covered bridge. The small town of Hillsboro (birthplace of Nobel Prize winning author Pearl S. Buck) is 5 miles away with a restaurant (The Hillsboro Public House) + two gas stations. We are surrounded by the Monongahela National Forest with many state parks available less than a 15 minute drive from the property. There are many remarkable places to see while you're visiting; Cranberry Wilderness area, Watoga State Park, Bear Town State Park, Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park, the Highland Scenic Highway + a little further North up 219 is Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort; a favorite for skiing + snowboarding, mountain biking, music (4848 Festival) + many other outdoor activities!

Weekend Trip to Casita Of LOVE (Panhandle WV)
Pablo & Lorena have set up a wonderful oasis in a beautiful part of the WV wilds. They are very welcoming, the cabin has everything you'd need for your stay and more. The heated shower was a nice touch. Everything was clean and ready for us when we got there. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again!

Camping at the Hilltop Sunrise was awesome! This spot is close to the road which is great for access and phone service! Traffic wasn’t too noisy at night. The host, John, is incredibly welcoming and helpful. John made sure all facilites were working and showed me a cute little frog that was hanging out by the laundry. The hot shower is a major perk of this spot. I camped in my car and used the platform to hang out in my camp chair and do some yoga. I definitely recommend staying here!

Had a great time at the mountain top cabin! The host Ed is awesome, and truly cared about us having a great experience.
Both my kids caught fish from the ponds on the property. First fish ever caught for my son! Priceless!!

Rainy and somewhat unseasonably cold weekend, but the site itself is excellent. Beautiful river, great mix of trees and grass, clean bathhouse complete with warm showers, dry pavilion with a ping pong table and space to hang out, lots of dry firewood and local beer available at the camp store. Andrey's a friendly host and helped us have a great weekend. Would recommend and look forward to camping again in the future.

My family and I have stayed in the retreat cabin twice so far. We absolutely love it there. The property is gorgeous, the river adds to the beautiful charm, and the cabin has all of the creature comforts you could want for glamping. 10/10 would recommend. Already planning to come back as soon as we can!

Weekend Trip to Hilltop Sunrise Camping and RV Site
The bunkie cabin at Hilltop Sunrise has genuinely been one of my favorite places I’ve stayed. The bunkie was homey and had all the necessities for our stay. It was the perfect mix of camping and comfort. Our host, John, was beyond kind, gave great recommendations for the area, and answered any questions we had promptly. I am already thinking of my next trip to WV and will absolutely stay at Hilltop Sunrise again!

We received very detailed instructions from Andrey which were so helpful in preparing for our trip and then he came by and introduced himself when we arrived. The property is beautiful and it looked like every site was equally as nice. We stayed on the South spot which was close to the bathhouse (maybe two minute walk) and right next to the Great Cacapon River. We had several cars, five large tents, one small tent, a large shade canopy and an enclosed shelter setup and we had plenty of room! Even though you can see the other sites, there is a generous amount of space between them. Would love to visit again!
