Park your RV amid the wineries in this southwest Washington town.
Surrounded by countryside and set against the backdrop of the snowy Blue Mountains, Walla Walla is a great base for exploring southwest Washington and known for two things: wineries and its own special variety of onions: the massive Walla Walla sweet onion. You'll find tons of public campgrounds in the Umatilla National Forest land to the east of town, many of which are RV-friendly, but most are available on a first-come, first-served basis and stay blanketed with snow well into July. It's also possible to park your RV or campervan at one of the many RV parks and privately run RV campsites in the area before heading out for winery hopping—standard amenities include picnic tables, electric hookups, toilets, and sometimes even wifi. Lewis & Clark Trail State Park is another good public option for RV camping, only about a half-hour drive northwest of Walla Walla.
