Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way to the Salish Sea. This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years. Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle. Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

Green Acre Camp is located in a semi-residential, semi-rural area of unincorporated Port Townsend, only 10-15 min drive to main restaurants, grocery stores, and attractions of downtown Port Townsend. RV power pedestal with 30a, 50a, and standard 20a/120v plugs. Pack-in, Pack-out; there is no toilet, sink, or shower. Large vehicles/trailers/5th wheels are welcome! Enter the property on private dirt road connected to Hastings Ave and you may park anywhere in the upper field immediately on left when you enter the driveway. There is a locked shed that houses the well pump, and you can use the water spigot and hose. Water is potable lab tested. Property is shaped like a triangle with Hastings Ave. There is tree cover along Hastings and shared driveway at bottom edge of the triangle. As you continue down the driveway a few hundred yards, you approach neighbor's fence and property line. Main camp site is the “upper field” where there is room for parking and power/water connections. This is conveniently level with the main road and flat. There is “lower field” that is a trimmed grass field right corner next to the driveway, Finally the “back field” is large, grass field and a fire ring across the northern half of the property. The back field has an unused septic system underground, so we leave the grass and vegetation longer here to attract wildlife and preserve the infrastructure for potential future use. No vehicles allowed in back field. In the middle of the property is a grove of pine and cedar trees with thick, native salal bushes and rhododendrons crisscrossed with paths created by humans and the local deer population. Driveway is shared by neighboring property so wave and smile if our neighbors walk or drive out to the main road, and please be respectful of their property line and follow the local culture of 'live and let live'.

You can select from smoked pulled pork, BBQ chicken, Smoked ribs or the vegetarian selection, baked spaghetti squash stuffed with a blend of marinara, roasted zucchini, yellow squash and bell peppers, topped with parmesan cheese. Sides served with the dinner include roasted corn on the cob ( in season), potato salad, homemade Horseshoe beans, corn bread and blackberry cobbler . You provide the beverage. Guests meander over to the cook tent at about 6 pm and enjoy dinner seated around tables and chairs complete with plates, cups and silverware. Dinner is served by reservation only on Saturday nights. Dinner is $30.00 per person. 24 hour advance notice required so your food is always fresh. Breakfast ( described in intro above, is $15 per person) THE PROPERTY Just what is Cowboy Camp, you might ask. The traditional definition refers to sleeping outside under the stars with only a bedroll, a fire and the night sky for companions. But if you are a fan of the western genre and lifestyle, you might also know it as a place to go to hang out with like minded folks and experience the Cowboy lifestyle. This includes all people, men and women alike, as the term "Cowboy" is largely generic and not gender oriented. A taste of that lifestyle is what we are offering here at our Cowboy Camp. HORSES It wouldn't be Cowboy Camp without horses and they are definitely present. They can be heard whinnying at mealtimes and throughout the day as they keep in touch with each other. They are generally quiet at night. Horses are not allowed in camping areas when campers are present. No farm would be complete without chickens and ours is no exception. A few hens can generally be seen wandering around the barn searching for bugs, We do not have a rooster, so guests can sleep peacefully. We are offering camping sites ranging from simple tent sites with fire ring, picnic table and soft sandy tent sites to small cabin type tents with beds and electricity. As part of your cowboy camp experience you can sign up for a horsemanship lesson involving handling and grooming horses and time spent working with the horse in the round pen. (There is no actual riding such as a trail ride offered at this time, we are working on that). You can also sign up for a roping lesson. Learn to throw a loop and catch "Little blue", our roping dummy steer head. HIKES AND BIKES We also have games of horseshoes ( with real horseshoes) and corn hole boards. You can take a hike around the property on our trail through mature Douglas fir and majestic Western cedar forest. A 1/4 mile walk down our quiet country gravel road will take you to the 80 acre Jefferson County Land trust forest with several beautiful trails meandering through mature uncut forest. These trails are suitable for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. That forest further connects to the Cappy's trail system, a network of several miles of trails that will wind around and eventually lead into Port Townsend itself if you choose to venture into town. Or you can choose to travel via mountain bike or foot approximately one mile down the road to the DNR forest property that will lead you through more gorgeous wooded and open areas to access the Larry Scott trail, a 7.3 mile out and back firm surface multi-use trail that leads either out of town through the woods or to the north directly into Port Townsend along the scenic waterfront. Our beautiful piece of property is comprised of almost 11 acres situated on the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula just outside the quaint Victorian seaport town of Port Townsend. It lies approximately 4 miles from downtown with its many art galleries, restaurants, shops, boat harbor, farmer's market and the historic Rose theater. The farm itself is located within a section of old growth forest comprised of 100 year old Doug Firs, cedar trees and alder groves. There is an open pasture area in the center of the property, which is ringed completely by thick stands of forest, so it feels completely private. You have to look closely to see the neighboring two houses through the forest. The horses are excluded from camping areas during your visit, and will most likely be housed on neighboring property while guests are present. No need to worry about curious horses coming into your campsite to say hello. It is a wildlife paradise with frequent visits from local deer, bald eagles, ducks on the pond, owls nesting in the trees, and coyotes travelling through. The frog pond is alive all night with singing. If you are a light sleeper you might consider earplugs. We have created a walking trail through the forest around the land that is full of the sounds of life and birds. A pileated woodpecker makes its home in the back corner and two pairs of barred owls also inhabit the nearby Douglas firs. They can be heard at night calling out as they settle in for the evening. An important note for the walking explorer, please be aware that many areas of the farm are in their natural state. This means you might encounter prickly plants such as star thistle, nettles and tansy ragwort. We are happy to identify these for you if you are unfamiliar with them. Please be aware and dress in long pants and long sleeves while hiking. There are no poisonous snakes present in this region. We train horses here so there is a full size riding arena and training round pen. On any given day, you might see horses being trained and ridden. MORE ABOUT THE FOOD At the end of your day of adventures, you can opt to sign up ( when your site is booked) for a delicious feast at Cowboy Camp. Using old time traditional Dutch oven cooking techniques and slow smoking methods, meals are comprised of such items as slow cooked smoked pork shoulder or ribs, Dutch oven baked "Horseshoe Beans" ( a crowd favorite), fire roasted corn on the cob (in season) , homemade potato salad, green spinach salad, and of course dessert such as homemade blackberry cobbler or pineapple upside down cake. Vegetarian selections are also available upon request. ADVENTURES CLOSE BY Venturing out from the farm you can sign up to go on a whale watching excursion with Puget Sound Express out of Port Townsend. Seeing a whale is guaranteed or you get a free return trip. Also, the Olympic National Park is only a short one hour drive to the west and the view from Hurricane Ridge is not to be missed. Your Hosts: Property owners Karma and Rick come with a long extensive history of experience in the horse industry and western culture. Together they share over 100 years of experience with horses, both having ridden since young children. Karma loves sharing her knowledge of horses and horsemanship with others and has been a certified riding instructor for many years. Rick grew up with a horse and cattle background from a young age. As a young man he competed in the rodeo sports of bareback broncs, calf roping, bull riding and team roping. He then worked as a professional farrier, horse trainer and ranch employee in Texas. He learned the art of Texas BBQ cooking while living and working on Texas ranches. He loves to cook for others and enjoys sharing tales of the ranch life. You can choose to be as involved as you like during your visit. You can sit quietly in the forest and just enjoy peace and quiet if you so desire. We will not bother you. This part of the Stillaguamish valley and the adjacent Mountain Loop Highway is known for a great selection of hiking trails, at all skill levels. It is perfect hub for all of your outdoor interests. The trailhead for the summit of Whitehorse Mountain is just a mile away, as is Old Mine Road trail (45 minute hike ending in 2 waterfalls). A 15-20 minute walk takes campers to a swimming hole in the cool Stillaguamish river for a dip or a paddle. Even closer is Whitehorse Regional Trail (great for biking, walking and horseback riding) built on the bed of the former BNSF railroad through the North Stillaguamish River Valley, spanning over 27 miles. The nearly level trail meanders through the valley, rewarding visitors with picturesque, landscape views of forests, farmland, streams and rivers, and mountain vistas. Sites have a generous fire pit and access to a Porta-Potty. For bathing I recommend cool dip in the Stillaguamish River. In season there is also fishing, snowshoeing, concerts at the blue grass festival grounds, a rodeo, and so much more.

Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle. Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

RV power pedestal with 30a, 50a, and standard 20a/120v plugs. Pack-in, Pack-out; there is no toilet, sink, or shower. Large vehicles/trailers/5th wheels are welcome! Enter the property on private dirt road connected to Hastings Ave and you may park anywhere in the upper field immediately on left when you enter the driveway. There is a locked shed that houses the well pump, and you can use the water spigot and hose. Water is potable lab tested. Property is shaped like a triangle with Hastings Ave. There is tree cover along Hastings and shared driveway at bottom edge of the triangle. As you continue down the driveway a few hundred yards, you approach neighbor's fence and property line. Main camp site is the “upper field” where there is room for parking and power/water connections. This is conveniently level with the main road and flat. There is “lower field” that is a trimmed grass field right corner next to the driveway, Finally the “back field” is large, grass field and a fire ring across the northern half of the property. The back field has an unused septic system underground, so we leave the grass and vegetation longer here to attract wildlife and preserve the infrastructure for potential future use. No vehicles allowed in back field. In the middle of the property is a grove of pine and cedar trees with thick, native salal bushes and rhododendrons crisscrossed with paths created by humans and the local deer population. Driveway is shared by neighboring property so wave and smile if our neighbors walk or drive out to the main road, and please be respectful of their property line and follow the local culture of 'live and let live'.

Sides served with the dinner include roasted corn on the cob ( in season), potato salad, homemade Horseshoe beans, corn bread and blackberry cobbler . You provide the beverage. Guests meander over to the cook tent at about 6 pm and enjoy dinner seated around tables and chairs complete with plates, cups and silverware. Dinner is served by reservation only on Saturday nights. Breakfast ( described in intro above, is $15 per person) THE PROPERTY Just what is Cowboy Camp, you might ask. The traditional definition refers to sleeping outside under the stars with only a bedroll, a fire and the night sky for companions. But if you are a fan of the western genre and lifestyle, you might also know it as a place to go to hang out with like minded folks and experience the Cowboy lifestyle. This includes all people, men and women alike, as the term "Cowboy" is largely generic and not gender oriented. A taste of that lifestyle is what we are offering here at our Cowboy Camp. HORSES It wouldn't be Cowboy Camp without horses and they are definitely present. They can be heard whinnying at mealtimes and throughout the day as they keep in touch with each other. They are generally quiet at night. Horses are not allowed in camping areas when campers are present. No farm would be complete without chickens and ours is no exception. A few hens can generally be seen wandering around the barn searching for bugs, We do not have a rooster, so guests can sleep peacefully. We are offering camping sites ranging from simple tent sites with fire ring, picnic table and soft sandy tent sites to small cabin type tents with beds and electricity. As part of your cowboy camp experience you can sign up for a horsemanship lesson involving handling and grooming horses and time spent working with the horse in the round pen. (There is no actual riding such as a trail ride offered at this time, we are working on that). You can also sign up for a roping lesson. Learn to throw a loop and catch "Little blue", our roping dummy steer head. HIKES AND BIKES We also have games of horseshoes ( with real horseshoes) and corn hole boards. You can take a hike around the property on our trail through mature Douglas fir and majestic Western cedar forest. A 1/4 mile walk down our quiet country gravel road will take you to the 80 acre Jefferson County Land trust forest with several beautiful trails meandering through mature uncut forest. These trails are suitable for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. That forest further connects to the Cappy's trail system, a network of several miles of trails that will wind around and eventually lead into Port Townsend itself if you choose to venture into town. Or you can choose to travel via mountain bike or foot approximately one mile down the road to the DNR forest property that will lead you through more gorgeous wooded and open areas to access the Larry Scott trail, a 7.3 mile out and back firm surface multi-use trail that leads either out of town through the woods or to the north directly into Port Townsend along the scenic waterfront. Our beautiful piece of property is comprised of almost 11 acres situated on the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula just outside the quaint Victorian seaport town of Port Townsend. It lies approximately 4 miles from downtown with its many art galleries, restaurants, shops, boat harbor, farmer's market and the historic Rose theater. The farm itself is located within a section of old growth forest comprised of 100 year old Doug Firs, cedar trees and alder groves. There is an open pasture area in the center of the property, which is ringed completely by thick stands of forest, so it feels completely private. You have to look closely to see the neighboring two houses through the forest. The horses are excluded from camping areas during your visit, and will most likely be housed on neighboring property while guests are present. No need to worry about curious horses coming into your campsite to say hello. It is a wildlife paradise with frequent visits from local deer, bald eagles, ducks on the pond, owls nesting in the trees, and coyotes travelling through. The frog pond is alive all night with singing. If you are a light sleeper you might consider earplugs. We have created a walking trail through the forest around the land that is full of the sounds of life and birds. A pileated woodpecker makes its home in the back corner and two pairs of barred owls also inhabit the nearby Douglas firs. They can be heard at night calling out as they settle in for the evening. An important note for the walking explorer, please be aware that many areas of the farm are in their natural state. This means you might encounter prickly plants such as star thistle, nettles and tansy ragwort. We are happy to identify these for you if you are unfamiliar with them. Please be aware and dress in long pants and long sleeves while hiking. There are no poisonous snakes present in this region. We train horses here so there is a full size riding arena and training round pen. On any given day, you might see horses being trained and ridden. MORE ABOUT THE FOOD At the end of your day of adventures, you can opt to sign up ( when your site is booked) for a delicious feast at Cowboy Camp. Using old time traditional Dutch oven cooking techniques and slow smoking methods, meals are comprised of such items as slow cooked smoked pork shoulder or ribs, Dutch oven baked "Horseshoe Beans" ( a crowd favorite), fire roasted corn on the cob (in season) , homemade potato salad, green spinach salad, and of course dessert such as homemade blackberry cobbler or pineapple upside down cake. Vegetarian selections are also available upon request. ADVENTURES CLOSE BY Venturing out from the farm you can sign up to go on a whale watching excursion with Puget Sound Express out of Port Townsend. Seeing a whale is guaranteed or you get a free return trip. Also, the Olympic National Park is only a short one hour drive to the west and the view from Hurricane Ridge is not to be missed. Your Hosts: Property owners Karma and Rick come with a long extensive history of experience in the horse industry and western culture. Together they share over 100 years of experience with horses, both having ridden since young children. Karma loves sharing her knowledge of horses and horsemanship with others and has been a certified riding instructor for many years. Rick grew up with a horse and cattle background from a young age. As a young man he competed in the rodeo sports of bareback broncs, calf roping, bull riding and team roping. He then worked as a professional farrier, horse trainer and ranch employee in Texas. He learned the art of Texas BBQ cooking while living and working on Texas ranches. He loves to cook for others and enjoys sharing tales of the ranch life. A 15-20 minute walk takes campers to a swimming hole in the cool Stillaguamish river for a dip or a paddle. Even closer is Whitehorse Regional Trail (great for biking, walking and horseback riding) built on the bed of the former BNSF railroad through the North Stillaguamish River Valley, spanning over 27 miles. The nearly level trail meanders through the valley, rewarding visitors with picturesque, landscape views of forests, farmland, streams and rivers, and mountain vistas. Sites have a generous fire pit and access to a Porta-Potty. For bathing I recommend cool dip in the Stillaguamish River. In season there is also fishing, snowshoeing, concerts at the blue grass festival grounds, a rodeo, and so much more.

We are a 20 acre tree farm in the making on beautiful Whidbey Island. The property is rough graded with lots of areas to explore. Close to town for supplies but quiet, and crazy stars at night. We have cleared two of the cedar groves on the south side, and they are perfect campsites. The sites are 75'-100' apart, more private than a state park, but close enough that a bigger group would feel close. Portable Toilet is on site 100' from the Big Cedar site. May through October Cedar Hallow- Our original campsite, sports a hammock, a picnic table, a fire pit, a good area for 2 tents, probably 6 people. The site has huge cedar trees all around so it's filtered sunlight most of the day, & warm in the summer! Big Cedar- Our bigger site. Equipped with a fire pit, a picnic table, hammock, and space for 3-4 tents, probably 12 people comfortably. There is a dirt road that circles the property, it's great for walks and animal viewing but can get muddy in the rain so be prepared. Parking is a gravel lot directly across the little dirt road from the sites. Unload at the site then move to parking as to not block the road. Trucks with campers can pull tight to a site but don't pull into a site please, obey standard fallen tree limb boundaries. I keep a large water tote on-site with hose water for washing dishes or boiling.

Valhalla tree farm is beautiful and so serene. The different birds calling and talking through the sounds of trees moving in high winds, so good! The pup and I went exploring through the property and trails feeling like we were fully in Ferngully. Our shelter camp site on Huckleberry Hill was perfect. Dave clearly puts a lot of thought and care into providing the best experience. Not only was he communicative and responsive, but he was also accommodating. Thanks to the shelter at our site, we didn’t drown in the torrential downpour! This property is highly rated, the pup and I agree 💯

This spot is amazing! The view was fantastic with the lake and valley below holding our attention all day and evening. It rained almost the entire time, but sitting out under our canopy watching the rain come down was a wonderful way to pass the time. And all this, while only being five minutes from one of the best dive bars in Washington. Evelyn's has great food, interesting people and great service. Great, out of the way, place. Spots are well marked, wiht plenty of space between them for privacy. There are farm animals that free range, including sheep (that are very cute), so heads up that there's lots of poop around. Andrea has three incredibly friendly dogs that came to say hello, and lots of cats around that are friendly too. The sauna is a great feature. The only drawback is that the sauna/bathhouse is a bit of an uphill hike from the campsites. Just plan your bathroom trips. Otherwise, lovely overnight here.

Valhalla is everything you want in a campsight and more. The land is beautiful and so peaceful. The sites are spread out for privacy and there's a few different types, including cabins so you're sure to find something that you'll like . The roads are well maintained. There's drinkable spring water from a faucet at every site. Trails all throughout the property to explore and a creek to play in. It's a paradise and the host, Dave is a great guy. The owner of this property only hosts one RV at a time — unless guests are traveling together — so you’ll have plenty of privacy! (More than two people are welcome.) The huge graveled area makes turning around super easy, and there’s a pretty view to the west over a grassy field toward the sunset. The barn is picturesque, though there are no animals on the property except for one indoor foster cat. The RV site has water from the barn via a 100-foot hose. “House” electric is available from the barn with a provided 100-foot power cord for a $5 charge. Benson Road is narrow with a deep ditch, so it isn’t suitable for walking or biking, but traffic noise is minimal. The property sits directly across from the Lynden airport. While planes rarely take off or land here, it’s fun to watch when they glide in close to the ground. On most days you might see three planes, with a few more on Sunday afternoons when people return home. The property is a flat 1,500 feet long, making it great for walking. It’s also a wonderful spot for dogs to run and play, though since it’s within Lynden city limits, dogs must remain under immediate control or on a leash. Quiet time is strictly observed at 9 p.m. A campfire area is available in the farmyard, with a charged hose required to be on hand. The owner will try to provide firewood and newspaper for starting fires, but availability isn’t guaranteed. Conveniently located, the property is only a 4-minute drive from charming, flower-filled downtown Lynden and the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds, 6 minutes from the main grocery shopping area, and about 5 minutes from the Canadian border crossing. It’s a 30-minute drive south to Bellingham, 30 minutes west to Birch Bay and other waterfront destinations, 1 hour 15 minutes to Anacortes (gateway to the San Juan Islands), and 1 hour 20 minutes east to the Picture Lake Viewpoint on Mt. Baker.

When we purchased this property it was covered with black berry bushes, we did not even know what might be underneath when we started to clear it. At first we just wanted a garden but the deer ate the blueberries so we planted pumpkins. They were a success, in fact one year we gave a pumpkin to each Beach School kindergartner. Later on we decided to set it up as with RV hook ups for our friends and that is how we got to where we are now. We love to share Lummi Island, it is a special place and we added the tag "Beach, Bikes and Hikes" lots to do on Lummi so bring your bikes, kayaks, walking shoes. Park your camping trailer or RV, water, electricity, both 110 and 30 amp service, sewer (septic hook up) are ready for you. We have a propane campfire for evening campfires but you will need to hook up your propane to it. Once you're set up, start exploring. The beach, blizzard trail, ride your bike, bring your kayak or just sit back and take in views all the way to Canada. Lummi Island does have a grocery store, near the ferry landing, two restaurants, no gas on Lummi, however the store does sell propane. There is two restaurants on Lummi Island the Beach Store Cafe, moderate prices but only open Thursday thru Sunday and the Galley usually open Wed thru Sunday. The best part of Lummi Island is the tranquility, kick back and enjoy fresh air, beach walks, outstanding sunsets and quiet nights. Pets OK, please pick up after pet and have a leash.

You’ll also find a table at your site for dining or relaxing outdoors, with additional seating and decor thoughtfully placed around the property to take in the peaceful surroundings. Whether you want to enjoy a quiet moment to reset or explore the natural beauty that Washington has to offer nearby, this RV site offers everything you need for a memorable stay. Property Rules and Guidelines Our property is tucked away on a dead end, gravel road that winds up a peaceful hill, far enough from the main road to enjoy the quiet. Though you may occasionally hear the distant sounds of neighbors driving, yard work, or dogs barking. These noises are minimal, ensuring this will not affect the calm and serene atmosphere you may be seeking. To maintain the peaceful environment we cherish, we kindly ask that all guests respect the following guidelines: Quiet Hours: Please observe quiet hours from 9 PM to 8 AM to allow everyone to enjoy the tranquility of the space. No loud music or parties. Campsite Limits: Each RV spot is limited to a maximum of 4 people. We also ask that campers be 18 years or older to keep the environment calm and serene. Pets: Non-aggressive dogs are welcome, but pets must remain on a leash at all times. Please keep a close eye on them, as coyotes and deer occasionally roam the area. Fire Regulations: No personal fires are permitted. Please use the community tiki torch fire pit, and kindly refrain from foraging for firewood on the property. Vehicles: We allow a maximum of two personal vehicles per site. Only 1 RV/Camper allowed. Truck pulling a trailer is considered 1 personal vehicle. RV: No RVs without a self contained toilet. No RVs older than 15 years unless they are very well cared for. No tents. Waste Disposal: Garbage and recycling receptacles are available—please keep the property clean and respect the natural surroundings.
