The farm is owned and operated by the Pickering Family, who has been living on the farm since 1884. The property is close to Seattle but feels like a world away!

The parking lot is behind trees, approx 50 ft from the main road which has regular daily traffic and noise driving by at the top of the site. It quiets down after work in the evenings. Dogs bark because they are dogs, but when you go deep into the forest you can barely hear the road or the dogs. The parking area can only be located there, in order to maintain the ecology of Ames Creek.
The entrance is down through either of two driveways from the main road, on a horseshoe loop drive-through, to the L-shaped parking lot. Tent camping is 4 to 6 total soft pads in the forest near the parking sites. Note: Ames Creek does dry up in mid-summer.
For large RVs maneuvering skills are required to park on the level 23 ft long parking pads in the parking area down the hill from the road. It is a U-shaped drive-through, flat at the bottom of the small driveway hill.

Everyone who sees it remarks that this forest is beautiful. It has a main trail and many small pathways between ferns and hillocks. In an effort to preserve and protect this wild habitat, we have already planted 200 + Western Red Cedars, Douglas Firs, salal, snowberry, native current, and other native vegetation.
This is a great private spot for an RV or similar vehicles and 2 tent circles.
A firepit, and porta-potty next to each pad, another firepit in one of the 2 tent circles for each RV parking pad site.
A completely natural untouched Pacific moss rainforest about 30 miles inland on the foothills of the Mount Baker–Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington State. Some areas it is likely no one has ever walked on.
Bring mosquito repellent. Be aware of kids and dogs near road entrances, as well as near the creek in the winter.
It is located near major fun sites, it is a wilderness playground!
Ames Creek dries up mid-July and returns in Sept/Oct. There are a lot of little paths crisscrossing the creek, likely raccoon and deer trails.
We are happy to have your dogs visit - they will love it!
Please remember to bring an extension cord to access power.
There are fire pits. When possible firewood is provided gratis in the woodshed. There are bundles of wood for sale at the Ace Hardware store in Carnation.

As you glance over to you're right, you see the constant flow of crystal clear water cutting its way through the forest. Continuing your descent into this sanctuary among the trees, your path opens up into a clearing surrounded by a stand of towering evergreens. This camp above the river serves as your perfect hideaway where you can rest and recharge.
On this, a little over two acres of riverfront land, there is a circle drive that loops along the edge of a clearing, giving access to 3 unique sites. These sites are tucked away with a comfortable amount of wooded space between them. At the center of this loop, there is a shared space to enjoy if you choose. This can be a nice space to gather for a meal at the large picnic table or have a game in the grass. There is also a large firepit that can be inviting to stand around and enjoy each other's company.
The river is what really makes this property special. You will have access to a private stretch of river, just steps away from the camp area. A short trail takes you down to a level landing just above the river with plenty of space to gather. A few more steps down and you can dip your feet in the cool water that has made its way down from the Olympic Mountains.
Each site is equipped with its own parking spot, firepit, and level areas for a tent or two. Besides the river, there is no running water or other utilities. There is access to a portable restroom that is a short distance from the campsites. There is additional parking near the entrance if you have a second vehicle, or if you have a small camper trailer to leave at the site and need a place to park your vehicle.
Another major benefit to this property is its general location. Stay and enjoy the camp to its fullest or use it as your home base and go explore the Olympic Peninsula. There are multiple hiking trails nearby in the Olympic National Park and nearby State Parks. You can also find yourself at multiple beaches that are only minutes away. If you enjoy a swim, there are also multiple lakes within minutes of the property.
The small town of Quilcene is just a few minutes away and offers a couple little stores, a gas station, restaurants, a laundromat, post office, and a National Park Ranger Station. The historic town of Port Townsend is approximately 30 minutes away. You can also enjoy the incredibly beautiful drive down Highway 101 as it navigates along the edge of the Hood Canal.

Fantastic little site! We were the only ones there and though it rained on day one it was dreamy. As other reviews state, it’s pretty tight and the “don’t hit that!” sensors went off a lot going through the gate and driving around the little loop with our Toyota van. Clean and gorgeous.

My fiance and I really liked this site, it’s hidden away in the forest with a nice river near by. The sound from the water was peaceful, but not too loud. Quiet place, you’ll rarely hear any cars driving by and we never heard any other people around us (we were the only ones on the property that night, but we never heard anyone surrounding us). Also easy to find! The instructions made it hard to miss. Simple to navigate, and the bathroom was clean and not fully of spiders, which was a pleasant surprise.

Big, clean, private campsite. Its closer to the road than I thought it’d be but it’s a private residential road and there were only a handful of cars that were blocked by the trees. The location is quick and easy to get to from the city but still feels remote and private. It was a great spot for my dog. The nature trail is pretty and goes through dense fern covered forest. Only thing is I wish check-in time was a little bit earlier, at least in October, because I had to rush to set up camp before it got dark. Overall do recommend!

They made an easy access to the river from sites 3 and 4 and I seam a little both days we stayed. The barn is a marvel amd a wonder.sites 3 and 4 are on top of each other, but it was such a lovely place to stay we didn't mind. We got to talk to the former and he was nice. They were having a cool event for the rebel been company on the property.

The Sunlight Circle Campsite was the perfect spot, tucked away in Carnation, WA! The site was very clean, and the fire pit setup is large and a nice feature. Even though it was raining during our stay, it was lovely to camp in a quiet and serene spot, surrounded by a beautiful forest.
We look forward to coming back in the future when we are able to see the stars and explore the trails!

It was a great overnight stay for young kids. Playing in the river, beautiful sunflowers, bees and a nice walk to the barn. Firepit and table made it easy to roast smores and have a picnic. We would definitely stay again.
There was a generator on during the day to pump water to the crops, but it went off early - and Stephanie was a quick communicator. I'd stay again!

We stayed at site 3 which is nestled against a tree and fern covered slope. The sound of the river can be heard through the whole campsite and is very peaceful. The portapotty was very clean. It would be nice if there were a picnic table at each site rather than just the one shared picnic table. We brought our own camp table which was plenty for us. We did hear the other campers at site 2 but not too much. The sites are spaced well for privacy and the folks at site 2 said they couldn’t hear our baby over the sound of the river since site 2 is just above the riverbank. It would be fun to rent out both sites with a group of friends and have the whole campground. Loved the quick access to the river for dipping our feet and to town for a coffee at Catkin and ice cream at Peninsula Foods. We would happily return to this campsite!

This was a lovely place. I was on site 3 but I would have prefer site two it would have been closer to the river. Everything was great. It was very quiet place tucked away in the woods. I had the campsite all to myself so that was a plus. I will be back again thank you for the experience for my first time camping in Washington state.

The campsite was absolutely beautiful and quiet. Lots of greenery and trees. There is a path down to a river where we put our chairs to cool off. The portable bathroom was super clean. In the center of the campsites is a shared space with a picnic table. The only downsides are only 12 foot or under trailers can fit through the gate and the campsite circle.

What a beautiful place. We spent the weekend with friends here and while it is spectacular in all areas, it is a bit narrow for a 15-ft trailer towed by a Subaru Ascent. We found it exceptionally difficult to get through the gate at the top of the road, you've really got to swing way right to be able to get in through that gate. And we were in site number three, which was a pretty tight fit for the trailer, but if you are a tent camper or if you have a class C or if you have a small trailer that you're really good at driving, I would not sleep on this place it is the best!

Absolutely well maintained grounds
A beautiful center community zone with a picnic table and a fire pit
A beautiful creek that runs through and is just a short walk away -- bring your camping chairs!
Pet friendly
Beautiful surrounding forest with just 2 hours of direct sunlight over the middle of the camp
The cons:
The front gate is very much too small, they need to go a foot in both directions

Group trip
Second trip here and is quickly becoming our favorite place to visit. Super clean, great hosts, private, peaceful, and close to a great little bar to grab a local beer. We will continue to return….awesome property.
