The site is at the very end of the popular "Black canyon" section of the Methow river. Rafting and fishing guides use this property regularly. There is ample space for boat and trailer parking. My husband & I put a lot of blood sweat & tears into making this a place our kids would enjoy during our weekend vacations to Leavenworth. We love hiking & there are a ton of nearby hikes. Despite it being located on the other side of the train tracks, we always seem to have a good time. We hope you enjoy it too! Learn more about this land: Outdoor enthusiast will enjoy this glamp spot! Utilize the dry cabin equipped with two twin size beds, a pullout couch bed, a dining table with 4 chairs & extra seating. With plenty of space outdoors, feel free to pitch a tent or bring your RV for friends! It is a dry cabin meaning there is no running water. We have it powered with a solar panel which should give enough electricity to charge phones & lights as needed. There is also an outhouse with a compost bucket if you'd like to use that. The downside to this lovely parcel is it's on the opposite side of the train tracks, so there will be occasional noise. Maybe it adds to the uniqueness? Just keep that in mind as once in a blue moon, the train does stop so you may be stuck for a few minutes. Oh & those power lines sometimes make a crackling noise. Sometimes we notice it & other times we don't. Now that we got that out of the way, the pros are it's a great place to explore. There are a ton of nearby hikes. This spot is in between Stevens Pass & the famous Alps candy store, with each being about 15 mins away. There is a gas station/convenient store, a few diners, and a rest stop within 5 minutes. Historical Leavenworth is about 20 mins. There is a spot for campfires, a small 2 burner propane stove & an ice chest for your convenience, but you will need to bring the propane.

We loved camping in Boxcar Annie! It had all the modern conveniences and was sparkling clean. The land was well maintained, quiet, and a short walk from the river. The outdoor patio and propane fire pit was a wonderful surprise and put to use nightly. The host was very responsive and so nice. Would definitely come here again!

This little cabin is a treasure. Carol (fifth generation Ronald resident) told me her grandfather built it. It is so cozy and full of love! Quirky as you would expect a 105 year old cabin to be, but lovely. Slept so well, enjoyed sitting on the covered front porch reading. So peaceful and quiet. Good DVD selection too! I will definitely be returning as I try to get to that area at least twice in the summer!

The house is over 100 years old, and was built by my great-grandfather. It has all the quirks and oddities of an old structure, but is loaded with charm and is a perfect getaway for those who enjoy nostalgic places.

Weekend Trip to R & R Glamping/Leavenworth

Staying in this camper for the weekend was nice. There’s running water, an icebox, a gas stovetop, and electricity. I didn’t have any cell service or WiFi but that didn’t bother us any. It was nice having the table and chairs outside to eat breakfast and enjoy a cup of coffee before our day’s adventures. Only 15 minutes away from Leavenworth.

We were looking for a quiet escape from the fireworks in Seattle on the 4th and we couldn’t have been happier with R & R. Candida is a lovely host and the property was perfect. The camper is very cute and functional with a comfortable bed. I enjoyed a dip in the creek to cool off. Our reactive dog had a very relaxing 4th of July 😊. Would much rather stay here then in the hustle and bustle of Leavenworth town, only a 10-15 minute drive if you want to check it out. Book with confidence and enjoy the peaceful setting.

This is a great location. Close to Leavenworth, Lake Wenatchee, and Fish Lake. The town of Plain has a general store with anything you would need. The trailer and property are perfect. There’s a little creek that has a good spot for a cold plunge or let the doggo’s swim around. We will be back !

Great for larger RVs: Lake Wenatchee North Campground has dump stations and plenty of pull-through utility sites suitable for RVs.

Tips for snagging a campsite

You can reserve campsites and one of the two picnic areas over the phone or by using the Washington State Parks online reservation system. Reservations can be made up to nine months in advance. New sites go live at 7am Pacific Time.
If you can't find a campsite for your entire stay, you can split your stay across two campsites without having to pay double reservation fees. However, this can only be done over the phone.
Campsites operate on a first-come, first-served basis from mid-October until late March. Winter camping takes place in the south day-use area and Sno-Park permits are required.

When to go

If you like warm temperatures and aren't fond of rain, the best time to visit is in July or August, when weather is at its finest. However, plenty of people come for winter camping, when the park and its surroundings are covered with white snow, ideal for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding. December is a great time to come to experience the holiday festivities in the nearby faux-Bavarian tourist town of Leavenworth.

Know before you go

Lake Wenatchee Park Store sells basic prepared foods, espresso drinks, firewood, ice, and other supplies from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.
Outside of high season, the nearest place to pick up supplies is Leavenworth, where there are banks, a supermarket, gas stations, and lots of German-inspired restaurants.
While there are heated restrooms and a hot shower for wintertime use, hookups are not available during the November through March offseason.
Burn bans are common during the summer wildfire season. During such periods, campfires and some types of cooking devices are prohibited.
You will not need a Discover Pass (annual access permit) if you are camping in the park.
