There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive. Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing. Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD. AT THIS TIME WE ARE OUT FOR THE SEASON. The original river campsite has been moved to a more remote spot so that all campers can access the pond and pier to the river. Farm encompasses nearly 300 acres on the Patuxent River. There is access to the river on high tide via our private creek (must bring your own canoe or kayak) and 150 acres of marshland. Over 100 acres of woods to walk through and a pond for wildlife watching. Peaceful camping with privacy on a 160-acre historic farm! Minutes from Harpers Ferry, Antietam Battlefield and the C&O Canal to name a few. We are within an hour of Gettysburg and within an hour and a half of DC if you're planning a day trip. We have a prime central location with close access to so many things to do. This beautiful property is nestled in a valley between Elk Ridge and South Mountain with incredible sunrises, sunsets and starlit night skies. Walk out to the fishing pond, or follow the trails around the pastures to meet the cattle grazing. We have Scottish Highlands and Black Angus grazing as well as Alpacas. We also have beautiful peacocks on the property. We are a working farm so expect to see tractors and you may even see us baling hay or tending to the cattle. You may smell some animal smells which we work at keeping to a minimum but again, we are a working farm. It’s a true farm experience. Also, please keep in mind that during warm weather you may encounter some bugs. Gnats and flies are always a possibility and of course at times they can be worse than others. That can always be a possibility when camping or being outdoors. Bring bug spray, citronella and anything else to help with insects. If you stay by the pond you may hear frogs which personally I enjoy hearing but some may not. Consider bringing a generator and run a fan if you think the sound might bother you or some way to block sounds. We enjoy talking to our guests so feel free to stop us for a chat. At the RV sites you have 30 and 50 amp power as well as water. All the water spickets are potable and drinkable. Please be aware that some may not have great cell service and as noted in the amenity section we do not have WiFi at any of the sites yet. It is something we are looking into for the future. If something is urgent you should be able to pick up WiFi near the tenant house and a password can be provided for you to try.

Weekend Trip to HUNTER'S PARK BY WASHINGTON, DC

Hunters Park at Mezza Luna Farm was awesome. We stayed in the T1 site. Plenty of room for multiple tents and cars. There's firewood for sale right by the site, which was very convenient. There was an outdoor sink at the site, which was nice (though in colder months the water is shut off). There's a porta potty that was very clean - maybe the cleanest portapotty I've ever seen. The farm is beautiful with lots of horses to see. You're allowed to go visit them in the stables. There's plenty of paths to walk around the property if you want to go on a hike. Keith came by to visit - very friendly and welcoming. One family in our group had a couple small children. They did fine and loved seeing the horses. Damascus is very close by - easy access to groceries if you need anything. We'll be back again!

My husband and I had a wonderful time with our 3 dogs camping on Lynda's property for a weekend trip to Shenandoah! The dogs loved being able to run around and play off leash. We set up camp next to the creek where the fire pit was, and it was so quiet and peaceful. We did not use the electric but used the water spigot, which was just a short walk from where we set up camp. We definitely did not explore the property as much as we could have since we spent most of our time there relaxing by the fire after hiking in the national park, but it is absolutely beautiful and there is tons to explore! We hauled a pop up camper with a Ford Excursion, which worked great for us and we are used to doing this kind of thing, but I will say when Lynda says you need 4WD to get down the hill to the creek camping area she is not lying. Use your judgement. If you are not comfortable hauling something up and down a very steep hill and driving on a narrow dirt road, don't chance it. You can definitely get stuck. There is another area where you can set up camp and can still explore the property all the same! Shenandoah is just a short drive away, which makes this the perfect location. There is a road next to the property but it is a quiet back road - only a couple cars when by during our time there. We definitely recommend Lynda's property!!!

Lovely spot with easy access to the site (beware you must have a vehicle with ample clearance for a stream crossing) and river access just over a small hill from the camp area. Note: you cannot see the river from the camp site. And if you are wanting a very quiet experience think again because there is a continuous hum of traffic from Route 15, day and night. There is a nice circular walking path if you want to take a stroll around the fields. For something close to Baltimore it's a good option.

Excellent site, plenty of room, stocked some firewood for us to get started, and just generally an amazing first camp with my boy. Not too far away either, and was just a cool site right by the river. Couldn’t be better and Will never forget this site!

Darlene's land was a perfect hip camp. Usually my dogs and I hit the hay at nightfall, but Darlene's camp has an electric pole with a light, a screened tent with a table and chair, and an extra electric plug (recharge phones) - it was private and serene - plus Darlene was a FANTASTIC communicator, who meets you there to show you how the compostable toilet works, where to get firewood, etc. - then leaves you your privacy. Only a small disclaimer for travelers with dogs, IF you have a reactive dog (as one of mine is) there is quite a bit of wildlife noise in the woods. Highly recommend this hipcamp.

I had a beautiful experience here. Darlene was so generous with her flexibility and understanding of my circumstances. I came here looking for a bit of healing and quiet. I stayed under the gazebo and enjoyed the spa twice! The property is so lovely and magical. I felt held by the trees and Darlene even helped guide me through some of the strong emotions I was experiencing. Such a beautiful experience. I will be back soon.

This is a safe and clean area for tent camping. The property is over 50 acres, so other campers are usually not too close unless you choose to set up near them. During the fall, the river was quite shallow, and there was a sign indicating that fishing isn’t allowed. The nearest grocery store is about 9.5 miles away, so plan ahead for supplies. There are no showers, electricity, or running water on-site, but portable toilets are available. The management is easy to reach by phone and very responsive.
