Plus, the fireflies at night can be beautiful!  Plus, we've yet to see a mosquito!  You will be the only camper on the property, my RV is on site and is used as  guest quarters when I have company, but this is rare. There is no cell phone coverage and limited strength wifi, so unplug and relax!  The Camping Site is part of our mountainside property located in Long Hollow and sits on the edge of 7 acres of pasture, which leads to 7 acres of White Pine Forest you are welcome to use for walking, wildlife viewing, dog walking, etc.. It is conveniently located less than 2/10s a mile from Rt. 16, and 5 miles from I-81. Our neighbors are quiet but you may hear their donkey braying or chickens clucking. We ask that you do not disturb the neighbors or interact in any way with their animals. There is a Firepit and Picnic Table for your use. I try to keep a supply of firewood on hand which you are welcome to use, but if I run out you may have to get some wood elsewhere. You can scavenge fallen wood to burn.....

We have traced this farm's history back to the 1750's when a mill was built on Reed Creek. There is a log home that we know that was built in 1840 still on the premises. The white farm house across from the camp sites was built in 1877. The fish hatchery that is still in operation today was built by the Federal Government in 1923. Learn more about this land: Camp site situated along 3 separate creeks connected by one large private 11 acre field. Tate Run/ Reed Creek/ Venrick Run. The farm house is across the road and the whole property comprises of 88 acres of woods and pasature. The farm house was built in 1877 and the Ranch currently operates with 30 head of cattle and a working trout hatchery. We have traced this farm lineage back to the 1750's when a mill was constructed at the meeting of Tate Run and Reed Creek by Swiss Immigrant Henry Grubb. This camping experience takes place on a 200+ year old farm. We currently offer multiple camping options, most of which are only accessible by either all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicles.  The first location (along the main road) is solely for RVs or travel trailers (TT). The other camping locations are for tent camping, and much smaller/narrower and rugged RV/TT with a 4-wheel drive towing vehicle. Daniel and Cherith Kennedy purchased this 164-acre farm in 2014, and Daniel's parents, Brent Rita Kennedy, purchased the 1800's era farmhouse from Daniel and Cherith a couple years later. Together, we have transformed this farm back into a working farm with hay fields, cattle, donkeys, goats, sheep, chickens and any other critters we buy or rescue. We are currently rehabilitating the 1700's era one room schoolhouse at the front corner of our land as well. This farm is full of memories, hard work, and is absolutely stunning. Your hosts on-site are Brent and Rita Kennedy, and they are famous for spoiling our guests rotten. There is WIFI at the neighborhood restaurant, Hellbender's Café just 4 minutes away (typically open from 11-5pm) during the warmer months. While there is no electricity (or hookups for RVs), there are very few street lights in the area which makes for amazing stargazing. The only source of water is from a temperate stream that runs along the back side of the property for those campers who are comfortable boiling or treating their water. The property is 5.3 acres total, part of it is open former pasture land and over 1/2 of the property is forest. There is a wooden hill top area that is great for tent campers. The back side of the property is steep in some places, but it can be fun for those who want to hike and explore the mountainside.

Weekend Trip to Stormbrew Farm

We loved Stormbrew! Great site with kind hosts. We felt like part of the farm while we’re there. The dogs and cats were so friendly (we made a special bond with Esmeralda the cat—well, we felt that way at least. She might be friendly with all the visitors 😆). Also, on our last night there, our car broke down—Jenny was so kind to arrange a ride for us and also let us stay an extra night while our car was being fixed. She went above and beyond and we are so appreciative.

Fantastic site! Can’t beat the view and the full hookups! Beautiful sunsets, great location. I recommend unhooking your toad at the former Family Dollar or adjacent gas station before heading up the hill.

We really enjoyed relaxing in this beautiful pull through spot. There is no cell service, so it was easy to unplug, unwind and just enjoy the cool mountain breeze and bird song. One of our favorite memories will be evenings around the fire watching lightning bugs and listening to the whip-poor-will. There are also walking paths up through the White pines and along the property. Tracy met us and helped us get set up and was so kind. This is a gem of a spot and host!

The view here is absolutely spectacular and definitely worth the trip—we drove six hours and weren’t disappointed. The campsites are a bit closer together than expected, so your experience can really depend on who your neighbors are. If you’ve got considerate folks nearby, it’s great; otherwise, it could take away from the overall vibe. The biggest downside for me was the large cross that stays lit all night. It was pretty bright and made it difficult to sleep soundly. Aside from that, though, this is a beautiful spot and still well worth the visit.

Beautiful view from each site. Great location right above the New River Trail Super private and quiet. One of my favorite locations ever. 6 large sites, well maintained with full hookups..... I highly recommend this campsite. Jim and Dave who own and maintain the campsite could not have been any nicer.

This was a peaceful, private site and my favorite in a long time. Tracy is a great guy, host, and has great firewood & beautiful woods to walk through. No internet or phone service there. I drove into town to get some online work done. Other than that it was good!
