The Firefly is nestled between trees, on a loud, rushing creek, on a five acre property that is mostly cleared and on a hard surface dead end rd, a few miles from Hillsville, Va. The firefly is comfortable for a small family or a romantic get away for couples. The creek is stocked with trout, with easy access along the creek, perfect for wading, floating, and relaxing to the noise. Firefly has a camp style charcoal grill, a firepit with lots of firewood, a wood pellet stove on the covered deck for grilling when its rainy outside, a wood pellet fireplace for heat, outside shower with hot water, a comfy queen size memory foam bed, fresh linens and towels, and an outside bathtub situated by the creek. it has running water and a composting toilet and there is an unattached bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside hot shower as well. The FireFly is pet friendly and please leave $25 on the counter for the pet fee. The Firefly is 6 miles from I-77 and The Blue Ridge Parkway. I keep all paper products, dishes, cookware and pellets for the pellets cooker and for the heater. Plenty of blankets and there is a pellet heater and a propane wall heater there with plenty of propane. There is also a portable ac unit in the tent.

Numerous large manicured campsites in an open space DIRECTLY ON THE NEW RIVER where adventures abound! Up to 4 guests and 2 tents per site. Newly constructed tiny home provides GLAMPING at its finest! The Liberty cabin shares a space with a few tent sites along the river. With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy. While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables. Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October. The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.

We had an amazing stay! This glamping site truly had everything we needed and more. The tent was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully stocked with all the essentials, making it easy to relax and enjoy our time. You can tell a lot of care went into creating the space—from the cozy setup to all the little details that made our stay special. It was the perfect mix of being immersed in nature while still having all the comforts you could ask for. Great place to relax after long day's hike, and the location is perfect, only 10 minutes away from Grayson Highlands State Park. The host was also very responsive. Simple and clean spot to stay for a night. Would recommend! Little tricky to find in the dark - on the other side of the main road from the house; the gravel has some grass growing on it that made it a little hard to see. Look out for the port a potty and it’s right there!

If you’re looking for a place that feels like you’ve stepped into another world, this is it. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had been transported to a truly unique and peaceful retreat where it was easy to disconnect from everyday life and simply enjoy the surroundings. Jodee was an exceptional host, and all of the friendly animals, made the experience even more memorable and added such a warm, personal touch that you just don’t find everywhere. The yurt itself was incredibly well equipped. Everything we could have needed was already there, and you could tell a great deal of thought and care had gone into every detail. We never found ourselves wishing for anything. Between the amazing location, the one-of-a-kind atmosphere, and the outstanding hospitality, this was one of the most enjoyable places we’ve stayed. We left already talking about coming back, and I have no doubt we’ll be returning. Highly recommended!

Weekend Trip to Magical Riverside Yurt w/hot tub

We really enjoyed our family time spent at the yurt. The trip provided memories for us to look back on, something that we plan to continue to do each season of life as we raise our son. The views are amazing. The peacefulness of the surroundings was exactly what we needed. Dog friendly was a high plus! Our Sophie girl loved it. This yurt had it all! It made our time so much more enjoyable to not have to worry about a thing. We will definitely be returning.

This was a great stay. I stayed in one of the treehouse cabins. It was bright and full of windows, little porch out front, both large enough and cozy at the same time. I had a view of nothing but trees, clean bathroom to myself, personal firepit and Adirondack chairs, grill, privacy but could easily get to the main house. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and because I wanted a little light at night, they offered a large battery with a lightbulb that was perfect for lighting the cabin. They also included a pitcher for drinking from the spring on the property, which I filled and used daily. 10/10 would stay here again.

This stop was absolutely worth it. Our family had one night at this spot in our way to NC and everyone wanted to stay longer. Playing in the creek was refreshing. Steaks on the grill, everyone says they were the best steaks ever and are now begging for us to get this grill. Singing around the fire and ending the night with a nice shower under the stars. Bed was comfortable and the toilet was nice to have. Can’t wait to visit again! Thank you for sharing this his beautiful spot!

Weekend Trip to LAUREL HILL HAVEN, Va. Blue Ridge

Phenomenal spot. Very private - you will not have signal when you get there or on the way in so save Missy’s instructions! Also be sure to bring TP and paper towels - there was enough for one night but don’t count on it for more than that. Overall stunning spot and would absolutely stay here again. Maybe five cars total passed by down the mountain in 24 hours, but you can hardly see or hear them at all and there’s a creek in between so I didn’t have to worry about my dog. I also think I saw a review that said there were Adirondack chairs by the fire, but none while I was there. I brought a gravity chair so again no big deal, but be sure to bring your own camp or lounge chairs for around the fire. Weird note - we did come across an off-leash beagle on our morning walk that chased us home (probably friendly but I picked this spot specifically because my dog is dog-aggressive, so not ideal for us).

This experience was exactly as described online! Scott and crew were tremendously helpful and communicative. Everything was clean and ready for us when we arrived. It ended up being a total rain out when we were there but there was a TV and fun games for the entire family to enjoy. Our family of four plus our pup had a lovely time and would highly recommend this stay!

Weekend Trip to Stormbrew Farm

This was my second stay at Stormbrew and both times we were the only ones there. We ran into the owner’s daughter when we stopped by the bathroom at arrival and she was super nice - invited us to join her for a cookout if we wanted. The site is tucked at the back of the property along the stream where it’s nice and quiet. The unit was fairly simple but cozy. You may need a solar fan during the summer for extra air flow though.

I loved it! The vibe was just what the doctor ordered. The heater took the chill off the bus quickly and once it had my twinkle lights up, I felt right at home. I liked how the place felt tucked away but was easily accessible to the outside world. Loved all the paintings and quotes in the inside of the bus. Recommend bringing enough lighting for what you want your experience to be inside the bus, they provide a nice automated light when you open the bus door to get to the Porto potty, the rest is up to you! The bed is solid and everything was clean and ready for a wonderful night off the grid! Enjoy!
