This is a secluded off grid location without power, wifi, or cell service, so be prepared to UNPLUG and unwind. This land was once owned by Noah Hays himself. He was the main farmer on this land along with other farming land on this road. Hints the name "Noah Hays Road". We stopped farming this land long ago but some of his relatives are still farming on the land he use to farm on. We have 60 acres of mountainous land with hiking trails and great views. It's perfect for family time, bonfires, relaxing, hiking, biking, and picnics. Bring your own hammock or enjoy one of ours along the trails! This peaceful property is located near Whitetop Mountain (25 minutes) and Grayson Highlands State Park (40 minutes). The Virginia Creeper Trail in Damascus is just 15 minutes away! We offer a glamping cottage with a kitchenette, electricity, and air conditioning. An 11-gallon camping sink and 5 gallons of drinking water are provided. A porta-potty is available and is serviced weekly. The tent sites and the cottage both have access to our new, natural spring outdoor shower. The spring water is from our own spring located on our property. The cottage features a full-size bed, a queen sleeper sofa, and a twin bed in the loft. Guests also have access to a private fire pit, picnic table, and charcoal grill. Two tent sites are available and include a fire pit, charcoal grill (charcoal provided) and picnic table. No electrical hookups. But potable spring water can be provided. Cozy Bear sits right by the large noisy, trout stocked creek, with a private hot tub between the creek and the cabin, and less than five miles from Hillsville, which has a grocery store, local shops, a gym, dining, and nearby hiking. There is a shared bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside shower, shared with tent guests occasionally. Inside Cozy Bear, there is a queen mattress up in the loft, and a sleeper sofa downstairs. The kitchen has a sink, coffee maker and on the deck is a blackstone griddle, a propane firepit and a wood burning firepit is by the creek. Cozy Bear has a composting toilet and a shower in the bathroom, an ac window unit and a beautiful propane fireplace. If the temps get extreme outside, the waterlines do freeze. I will gladly do a full refund or change your dates if the forecast is well below freezing, although this cabin is cozy and warm inside. Cozy Bear is solar power/ and grid and is a six mile drive to I-77 and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Great host, great converted shed, very comfortable. Faces south overlooking a pasture, i didnt spend much time outside until evenings when the fireflies were popping. Trail behind cabin you can hike, meant to be trails, I just have a bum leg so cant report on that. Beautiful location.

The sweet, little cabin was just right for two. The decor (little touches), kitchen, grilling supplies, comfortable bed and pillows, reliable internet, and a/c were enhanced by the peaceful outdoors, star gazing and the Clean, *Nice smelling potty house. We did not have time to walk the trails, but the thought was inviting. Susannah was prompt in responses, willing to help if needed, and friendly. For our in route trip, this was an ideal place to stay.

Creekside campground is an absolute gem! We started our stay tent camping right by the beautiful, rushing creek, which provided the most relaxing background noise at night. Halfway through our trip, we moved into one of their small, off-grid cabins, and it was the perfect cozy upgrade while still keeping that authentic nature connection. Each site comes with a great fire pit for evening campfires. Our camp host, JoDee, was extremely helpful and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The entire property is peaceful, and the clean bathrooms were a major plus. Our dogs were also in absolute heaven here. The property features massive, wide-open areas where they could run, play, and burn off energy safely. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Blue Ridge Parkway - Campground

This location was perfectly isolated and had everything we needed. We were lucky enough to be the only ones there so we had the whole campsite to ourselves. Our dogs loved exploring and there is so much space for them to run without being concerned of car traffic. The bed was very comfortable and the space was perfect for my boyfriend, 2 dogs and I. It was tricky to find it at first but using Google Maps was better at getting to the exact location. There’s a red Parking sign on a tree stump. We do wish we had a little instruction on how to use the incinerator toilet but we were happy enough to even have a toilet with toilet paper! We’re already planning another trip to come back!

We loved our stay at Blue Bear Mountain. The drive up from Boone is forested, but as soon as you enter the campground, the view opens up and you can see the NC sky: great for seeing the stars on a dark night! We stayed in the cabin, which was cozy and had a toilet separate from the campground bathrooms (shower was still in the shared campground structure). There is a small porch on the side for enjoying a quiet relaxing morning sunrise. Mike is a very friendly host and was very responsive to any questions we had. We already saved Blue Bear Mountain as a campground we would book again on another trip up to Boone.

absolutely wonderful place to wind down and enjoy nature. the cabin was the perfect size, spacious, warm and stocked with everything you’d need. the property was gorgeous, the trails right on site were a great introduction to the area before hitting Stone Mountain. both Marsha and Greg were welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home. we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for a cozy trip in the mountains.
