Weekend Trip to Camp Karuga

Kathy was extremely courteous. Bathrooms were very clean, especially considering this is an outdoors/camping venue. The hot water heater wasn't working in the shower house, but Kathy offered to let me shower in her guest room. Wish I had more time to stay, I would like to hike the trail, and possibly try the horseback ride. Hope to come back in couple months for a long weekend.

We have stayed at two of the campsites now & will continue to come back until we have been to them all! It’s a beautiful property with wonderful hosts- GREAT FOR FAMILIES. We absolutely love it. Would recommend to anyone!

We stayed in the mountain top cabin and loved it. The cabin itself had everything we needed. We cooked all our meals there and only needed to bring the food. The view of the lake and the sunrise in the morning was spectacular. Tons of games in and outside the cabin to entertain. The deck with the fire pit was great. The driveway to get up there was intense but no problem for my Subaru. Clear directions and communication with the owner.

Weekend Trip to Sky Valley Sanctuary

Steven and his property were great! We had a decent size group of friends looking for a camping get away for the weekend. He let us rent out the whole property and it was so great! It is right on a creek with lots of wildlife. The kitchens are set up with everything you would need. We will definitely be back, and I recommend you to rent the whole property for your large group as well!

4 nights at Meadowsweet Gardens

Wizard of Oz cabin was exactly what we needed for a camping getaway with all the amenities you’d need - a warm shower, fire pit, charcoal stove and a clean space with all the basics you need. The cabin was super cute, clean, simple and offered all the right supplies needed for our 5 day camping trip: paper plates, washing tub, sheets, blankets, and lanterns. The location is near new river and we kayaked one day along the river. It’s also close to the blue ridge parkway. The place is right off the road which I didn’t know but the traffic wasn’t terrible. And the place does have a small trail down to a stream with mossy forest floor and ferns. And at night there were lots of fireflies - very magical. I’d definitely book this place again.

3 nights at RugbyCreek Pet Friendly Rentals

Had a wonderful stay over 4th of July weekend at Rugby Creek, just a stone's throw from Grayson Highlands. Lodged in the "Neighbor" trailer at the top of the hill, cozy and private with a lovely overlook of the property. Owners are kind and accommodating; I highly recommend scheduling a tour of the property to meet all the animals and learn their stories, including the famous Fabio and Sadie, the sweetest mini donkey ever. All of the residents are clearly very happy and well cared for, and I basically had a private petting zoo all weekend. Would love to go back!

This place is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the warmest welcome by Dianne, she’s incredibly kind, thoughtful, and genuinely cares about her guests. She made sure we had everything we needed and even checked in on us during our stay to ensure we were comfortable. The location itself is stunning, peaceful, scenic, and perfect for a getaway. My husband, friends and I had an unforgettable time camping under the stars, swimming in the refreshing creek, river tubing, and grilling. It was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. If you’re looking for a place to unwind, reconnect with nature, and be hosted by someone who truly goes above and beyond, this is it. We will definitely be back! This is an amazing camp! You are in a private area, great for a romantic vibe, or you could have friends book the other cabins and do a friend get away. Very clean and had all the essentials that we might need. We loved the hot tub and fire pit. Kevin was also an amazing host, any questions I had he answered asap.

Weekend Trip to Camp Faith

Our stay in the mountaintop cabin exceeded all expectations and was a trip we will remember fondly for years to come. Very secluded and peaceful, clean and well stocked cabin with all the amenities you could need. Excellent communication and hospitality. The driveway was no joke, but my minivan handled it well. My husband and 2 dogs had plenty to do over a long weekend with the lake right there and mountains nearby. As well as relaxing by the fire pit overlooking the river.

Weekend Trip to Safe Haven Farm

I really hesitate to leave a review on this because the secret will get out! It was truly a special place to stay - so peaceful and serene in this crazy busy world. We stayed with a group in a camper - our group had several of the spots. We were able to cook and eat as a group in the pavilion by the beautiful pond, then sit around a campfire. The camper was a much better alternative for us over a tent. While nothing fancy, it fit the bill for our visit to Roan Mtn. James, the host, was one of the best hosts I have met. He was flexible, responsive and, above all, super friendly! We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for our weekend adventure. Definitely will return - highly recommend! (Shhhhh!)

Newly constructed tiny home provides GLAMPING at its finest! The Liberty cabin shares a space with a few tent sites along the river. With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy. While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables. Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October. The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.

Tri Mountain View Campground is located in the Northeast corner of Tennessee in the town of Shady Valley. With an elevation of 2,800 feet, Shady Valley is the second highest town in Tennessee. It is just 26 miles from the Bristol Raceway and the Bristol Caverns. It is just a 15 minute drive to Backbone rock and a short drive to the Appalachian Trail. The property was a Dairy Farm and went out of business in the late 90’s and since then there has been over 3,000 trees planted. Some of these trees include the rare Butternut and Hazelnut, but mostly White Pine, Walnut and Oaks. The property has approximately 1,000 feet of fishing on Beaver dam creek, so we recommend bringing waders. Within 5 minutes, you can be at Roan Mountain State Park or drive 5-10 minutes to hike the Appalachian Trail. Head up to Carvers Gap just below Roan Mountain High Knob where you can hop out and enjoy a short walk to a scenic view of both the TN and NC mountains or visit the famous Rhododendron Gardens in season. Campsite also boasts energizing, private hike up to Heaton Ridge. Want to spend the day kayaking or canoeing? Head to Wilbur Lake, about a 30 minute drive away from our campsite. Exploring Laura Falls is only a 20 minute drive away. Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, and Grandfather Mountain in N.C. are about 30-45 minutes away. The Smokey Mountains, Gatlinburg, and Dollywood are about a 2 hour drive through amazing mountain views. The annual Rhododendron Festival takes place minutes away. Supplies can be found at the state park camp store or in town at Redi-Mart or Dollar General. Water and showers are down by barn. A Gator is available for the duration of your stay. Please arrive before sundown so we can meet you the first time you stay to show you the way and make sure you are comfortable driving Gator. We will have you follow us up to the campsite and from there you can come and go and just leave the Gator by your car near the barn when you are out and about and when checking out. A small Bluetti power charging station will be available in the tent (for light charging of cell phones, other) which can be recharged by the barn if used heavily. A Coleman stove with a small propane tank, pots, a frying pan and utensils is also included in the site. Another small propane tank is provided for the radiator in the tent.

Both domes can be booked individually or together (please see my other listings in my profile for availability). My goal is always to maximize privacy and I’ve worked hard to create guest seclusion and minimize visibility from the other dome. With that, the domes are separated by 150 feet but are connected via a staircase that has been built into the mountain. If another couple is staying in the other dome during your stay, it is likely that you may hear them during your stay. Finally, our ideal location and close proximity to Blowing Rock is a direct result of our proximity to NC 321. Guests should be aware that they may hear road noise. STEEP MOUNTAIN DRIVEWAY: Please note that the driveway to the TreePod is a mountain road that is ONLY accessible by AWD or 4x4. If you are not comfortable driving on gravel mountain roads, or do not have a 4x4 or AWD, you’re welcome to park at a dedicated space at the top of the driveway and take a 450’ hike to the dome. WINTER WEATHER: In the event of a winter weather during your stay you will be required to park at the top of the driveway regardless of what type of vehicle you arrive in. This does involve a short 350’ walk from that location to the GeoDome door. In general snow fall is light and usually melts the next day. HEATING/COOLING: The Treepod includes both heating and cooling as well as several space heaters and electric blankets. While we make every attempt to create a comfortable environment the domes are not insulated in the same way your home may be and does not heat and cool like a conventional home or apartment. We’ll provide the heated blankets, please bring plenty of warm clothing in the winter. PARKING: Parking is FREE and on Premises but we are only able to accommodate ONE vehicle during your stay. KITCHEN: During the winter months, the kitchen sink may be closed to prevent freezing pipes. If so, water is accessible in the fully functional and heated bathroom. As always, your welcome to use the grill with the supplied grilling tools for cooking. You’ll also find a French coffee press, water kettle, and coffee/creamer/sugar in the event that the Keurig is not available.

The camper sits between a stream (where our small flock of ducks splash and play), and the larger Upper Browns Creek (where our small flock of humans do the same). Open the windows to the sound of the babbling creek (and occasional duck quack during daylight hours), nap or read on the banks of Browns Creek, or cap off a day of adventurous hiking in the Black Mountains with a cool off in the pristine water of our own little dunking hole, thanks to Hurricane Helene. When evening comes, toast your s’mores to perfection over a campfire or cook supper on the old fashion wood stove adjacent to the large fire pit. Chilly nights could include a soak in the hot tub up the hill. We have very little light pollution, so nightfall brings a tremendous sky full of stars. Lay back and share the evening with the fireflies. We are a family of 5 with kids ages 3, 12 and 18. You may see us around the property, on the swings, basketball court, or taking care of the ducks each morning and evening.

The bathroom consists of a portable toilet and sink in a tent off the treehouse. A shower station sits on the other side of the treehouse. Although there is no plumbing, both have water. (You only need to bring drinking water for yourselves.) There is electricity and WiFi. There is a cooler and an electric kettle available for you to use. Outside of the treehouse, there is a fire pit, a grill, a hammock, and a slide - plenty to do while relaxing in nature! Please bring blankets/sleeping bags and pillows to sleep. (Both the foam mattress and the futon will have freshly laundered sheets.) If you plan to use the grill, please bring your own charcoal. Grilling utensils are provided. Firewood is provided for the fire pit. Although smoking is allowed on the premises, we ask that you do not smoke inside the treehouse. If you decide to smoke, please clean up after yourselves. Checking out is easy! We ask that you throw away your trash & recycles and return the key to the lockbox. We take care of the rest! There is no need to refill the water or take the sheets off of the mattresses. The hideaway is behind our backyard so you may see/hear us from time to time. At night, you may hear our mountain dogs and coyotes howling. You are truly out in nature here at 4Creeks. You are bound to see a deer or fox while you are here. We are only a 10-minute drive from downtown West Jefferson, 7-minute from the grocery store, 3-minutes from the winery and Christmas tree farm, 30-minutes from Boone, about 35-to 40- to our closest ski slope, 30-minutes or less to Tennessee and Virginia, 15-minutes from Blue Ridge Parkway, 40-minutes from the North Wilkesboro Racetrack, and so much more.
