My parents both grew up on the southside of Chicago - where having a tree in your yard meant that you had "made it". They decided to use the land to grow Christmas trees. This did not last long :) but the saplings my dad planted by hand are still here & maybe 70' tall! Then my husband & I bought The Farm in 2017 for the 2nd forty years of our life & my parents built their little house right here. I loved everything about it. Came with 2 kids (age 6 and 10). Spent the night. Enjoyed the wildlife (cows, donkeys and sheep) and the firepit. The house was heated with great facilities as described. Would recommend.

Fun country style room with complimentary food and drinks. Microwave and fridge toaster and coffee maker with coffee. Some fun couples games to play! Ac and the heater. And books to read.

We absolutely loved our stay at this Hipcamp spot last week! It was the perfect retreat—so cute and cozy, and truly had all the amenities a weary traveler could possibly need. I was especially impressed by how conscientious and thoughtful the host was throughout our stay. For instance, the space was efficiently designed with plenty of hooks for hanging items, which is essential in a small space. We were also very grateful that she provided snacks and small bites to eat after our long drive, and she was incredibly communicative and fast at responding to any questions we had. As a pet owner, I was also appreciative that the space was pet-friendly, allowing my dog, Biscuit, to join us on the trip. I sincerely hope to stay again sometime soon, perhaps when the weather is a bit nicer! Highly recommend this wonderful spot.

This was such a cool skoolie! I surprised my son with an "adventure" on our way home from FL. This was a hit! Cozy. Nice land. I saw a family of 11 deer! And my little dog loved the nature walk. Nice warm bathroom at the house. Private, clean and warm. I think we loved the little wood-burning stove the best! My son (22) slept in the bedroom which was like a quiet cocoon. I slept on the pullout couch which was way bigger than I expected and mostly comfortable. Everything was easy to use, especially with the handy "welcome" booklet. I would definitely stay again.

Weekend Trip to Shireton

Shireton was the perfect cozy weekend getaway! The handmade touches, props, and themed details made everything feel so enchanted and magical. I also loved that the front door opened right into the sunset (the door itself is gorgeous). We had so much fun doing archery with the on-site bow and arrows, relaxing by the fire, and enjoying the copper tub/shower. Truly a charming, whimsical stay :)

This beautiful piece of the Shire was so peaceful and gave my partner and i a wonderful getaway. We loved the little touches (hobbit garb, Middle Earth tarot cards, Tolkien-inspired pottery, flickering lanterns, etc!) and the beautiful craftsmanship of the whole home. We stayed during a cloudy period so relied on the generator for heat, which worked completely fine and the owner sent helpful instructions for using it ahead of time. Highly recommend this spot, it’s really sweet and magical!

Kerwin and his family saved my son's 16th birthday celebration. We made a reservation for tent style accommodations for the evening but when we arrived, it was FAR from what was advertised. We had to scramble to find somewhere else and Kerwin responded immediately to my almost 8pm request to book and answered his phone when I panic called. (This was literally 10 minutes after I requested to book, and he said he was right in the middle.of texting me back. The RELIEF I felt in that moment is indescribable) Kerwin and family are the sweetest and I cannot explain how grateful I am for their hospitality. The home was immaculate when we arrived and waking up to a field of cows and 2 of the cutest donkeys ive ever seen was amazing. The property, the people, the vibe, the atmosphere- its all perfect! Unfortunately we had to leave before we could meet Kerwin or his other farm animal family members in person,but we will absolutely be back! Maybe even to get married at their stunning wedding venue!!!! 100% perfect. Book it, youll regret it if you dont!

First off the vibe when you arrive is amazing. You are greeted by a hug from Amy as soon as you arrive. It was like you had been on vacation and had made it home. You felt welcome and appreciated. You didn't meet a stranger everyone was hanging out swapping stories and it was amazing to meet so many different people. The food, trails, view etc was a fresh breath of air. Something that was needed but you received way more than you thought you needed. I left relaxed calm mellowed and renewed. Only bad complaint I can say was it was so hard and so sad to leave the farm and Amy and her crew. Felt like leaving family. I will definitely be back soon and bringing others that could get alot out of this place! Great job to Amy, her husband, her dad, her dogs, and the crew behind the scenes yall rock!! 👏 Peace and love it was amazing coexisiting with you guys!

Weekend Trip to Shireton

Shireton was very quiet throughout the stay. It was a surprise to see such amazing craftsmanship and detail that went into the house. The décor was pinpoint accuracy as if you stepped right in to Middle Earth. The bow and arrows provided were spot on accurate hitting the target with every release. We loved the floor plan and setup especially the Murphy bed and door. The huge copper tub is excellent for relaxing bath. Everything was simple and not complicated. The instructions provided were detailed and easy to follow. There were no lights (other than house) to interfere with the stargazing. This is the perfect place to escape from the madness and experience peace and quiet. The house is a short drive from Scottsville, VA which is rich with history. We did visit a few vineyards one of which was Hardware Hills Vineyards approx 20 min away It was a very warm and inviting place from the staff to the two dogs Sam and Lucy. Overall, I would highly recommend Shireton to anyone that wants to try something different or go on an adventure there and back again. Looking forward to book another trip, maybe during the colder months just because it seems as though I should. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us. Thank you, Jessica and Mat, for not only hosting but more importantly sharing this experience with us. Well done.

it was a pleasure to camp at the creekside cool bus! the whole experience came with ease, starting with great communication from chloe, the skoolie provided everything we needed (& more) for a cozy retreat into nature. there was plenty to explore, a gnome lined walking trail along the creek and a short drive to the state park. the campsite is isolated enough to have your own privacy but close enough to access the full bathroom. it really was the perfect place for reconnection with each other and nature.
