Weekend Trip to Forest Echo Cabins

Rustic cabin with a stocked kitchen, amazing fireplace and my favorite, the sleeping porch. Situated 0n acres of gorgeous property ours to explore - hime, swim, paddle or just relax. Scott and Rose were lovely at check-in, could t have asked for nicer hosts. Perfect way to truly disconnect - no WiFi or strong cell service, just peace and quiet. I read an entire book yesterday - that hasn’t happened in years!

3 nights at Forest Echo Cabins

We had a great time at Forest Echo and can't wait to go back! The property is absolutely gorgeous. The cabin was so very comfortable and the cleanest of any hipcamp cabin I've visited. The forest and land is beautifully cared for, and I loved the flowers and ferns around the cabin. The lake was beautiful and perfect for canoeing and kayaking while the farm pond was picturesque for sitting and relaxing and a fun swim spot too. The people were extremely kind, welcoming and helpful! The hike down to the lake isn't an issue for most people, especially not active ones. However, if you have mobility or breathing problems it may be difficult. We still made it without a problem, but some may find it difficult.

My family and I had a great time in the Ripley Hill cabin! We stayed here last year and loved it so much that we came back and brought along my sister’s two teenagers. There was plenty of room for all of us, a nice newly renovated bathroom, and the fireplace came in super handy for the chilly nights we had. So much of what we needed was already there, such as kitchen equipment, lighting, games and cleaning supplies, plus lots more. The hosts were very kind and accommodating even though we forgot to text before we left. Thank you!

Salamander Hollow is a magical place. I could write an essay about it but to put it succinctly: What you see online is very cute but doesn't even start to do it justice. If you're on the fence, just book it. Also, this is my first Hipcamp experience but I've done many AirBnbs, and I can confidently say that Mary was the best host ever. Above and beyond helpful. 10 stars!!!

I loved Tully island and paddling around the pond. It was mostly quiet and waking up to the birds was very relaxing. The beaver scared us with his slapping around dusk but the island was an amazing experience.

We had a wonderful family weekend at Salamander Hollow! The accommodations were perfect for us to enjoy a delicious wood-fired pizza making experience, s'mores in the tipi one evening and sleeping in the bee cabin. Despite the rainy weather we had a wonderful time walking the beautiful property, and staying cozy for meals and evenings. Mary is a wonderful host and has lots of helpful recommendations for the area. We will definitely be back!

As advertised, the setting is beautiful, tranquil, peaceful. Our kids loved sleeping in the teepee while we were cozy in the library. We made some amazing pizza in the outdoor oven. Mary is an attentive, friendly, generous host who assisted us with our every need. We hope to make a return trip. I highly recommend Salamander Hollow.

Weekend Trip to Salamander Hollow Healing Habitat

This little island really is an oasis. There's cell service so you're not totally 'off-grid' in terms of safety or general communication which is good. The dock is perfectly positioned for sun bathing (or solar charging devices), the lapping sounds of the water calming, and the birds calls (with the occasional car passing by) providing some sound dynamics. As others have mentioned, the shack is equipped with some past guests' supplies including salt, pepper, olive oil, a cooler, plasticware, and some paper plates in case you forgot those essentials. There are also coffee mugs and some pots/pans you can use. The grill outside worked great, even while the water level around the island was high and limited my use of the fire pit. I really loved being able to let me dog off leash and let her wander the tiny island freely, though she was afraid of going on the dock. Compost toilet was easy to use and convenient. The loft tatami mat isn't all that comfortable so on the cold night that was only just above freezing, I moved the air mattress from the tent to the loft and that worked great. I took the "leave it better" seriously and helped organize some of the cabinet contents to make the rest of my and future stays zen. I hope future guests do too and treat this place kindly, as it is special and cool.

This was my second time staying at the Pines site, and it did not disappoint! You feel like you are in the deep woods, secluded and private. There were other campers on the property, but never saw a soul. Heather is gracious and very communicative, you can tell she truly cares about your experience and safety on her land. I will be back! The whole site was fantastic. It was perfect for a rainy weekend. When the rain stopped there was so much to do outside. The fire pit was a big plus with a beautiful view. The Koi pond was full of big and small koi to enjoy. The weather was warm enough to see the honeybees come to life and buzzz around the bee cabin, the Teepee was really a very cool addition although we didn’t use it much due to the rain. We stayed in the library and it was warm and cozy with the wood burning stove. It was kept clean, accessible and had what you needed for a great weekend. The kitchen area with the fridge, grill and pizza oven were a huge plus and we took advantage. The bathroom was within walking distance, heated and very clean and had it to ourselves. Which was a big plus. I would stay here again. Such a unique stay. The property was so peaceful and relaxing. We were able to unwind and connect to nature here. Thank you Mary!

I stayed here overnight while on a bicycle packing trip. Heather was really great and accommodated a schedule change on my part. The farm and land beautiful and my site (Ridgeline) had a beautiful view, a covered sitting area, chairs and a firepit. Heather made sure I was all set up with firewood and bug spray. A great host, Highly recommended!

We currently have a one-room, wood stove warmed, cozy sleeping loft for one or two - with two benches below on either side of room - for two sleeping bags; plus, a separate 22 foot Sioux tipi with two cots. There are two chairs in the tipi, which if removed at night, make floor room for four other sleeping bags. 'Forest Bathing' for miles! If you're a larger group booking Salamander Hollow main camp with its Sleeping Library, Tipi & Slovenian Beehive House, you might consider renting this additional Tiny Cabin want to entertain all in glamping style, utilizing its amenities; as well, providing another bathroom/shower and guest bedroom for those who prefer being indoors while in the great outdoors. **In the winter (December-March), we HIGHLY recommend a vehicle with dedicated snow tires or chains. AWD is good but sometimes insufficient. Home is in rural Vermont with a steep driveway.** Get away from it all in a secluded home atop a mountain in the VT National Forest. Home with large deck and panoramic view of the Green Mountains. Idyllic in all seasons. Summer is lusciously green; fall colors seen from our deck; the magic of winter. Tons of privacy, but minutes from lovely town of Rochester. Tubing and swimming holes nearby, tons of hiking and biking trails and berry picking nearby. Our home has been in the family for the 40+ years since it was built and well cared for that whole time. Uniquely situated, the house is 10 minutes from the town of Rochester, but high up in the hills on 2 acres of land. The photos do not even begin to do justice to our view. The house is the perfect combination of rustic cabin with comforts of home. We have 3 closed bedrooms (2 with queen beds and one with 2 twins) and a queen-sized futon in an open room on the lower level. Two full bathrooms with tub/showers. The deck extends the length of the house and has a 180-degree view of the Green Mountains. One of the highlights of the home is the large built-in stone wood-burning fireplace. There is a large set of 40 stairs to climb to the entrance of the house. The house is rich in its amenities, but still rustic in its charm. We have fiber-optic internet and wifi, fridge, range, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee machine, extra-large capacity washer and dryer, and small gas grill. Kitchen is fully equipped for cooking all meals. But it still feels like a remote cabin, filled with books to read and large sofas for relaxing in front of the fire. In the Great Hawk housing community, at the bottom of the mountain, there is a swimming pond, tennis court and pickleball court (bring your own racquets and balls!), and a small play structure for kids. We also have a pack-n-play, clip-on highchair, toys, board games, etc. It's a great home for kids of all ages. Short drive to many hikes, cross-country ski, and snowshoe, including the Long Trail. The town ploughs the roads to the house and our caretaker ploughs the steep driveway, but we have had icy winters and snow tires or chains help a lot. There is no cell service for the last 5 minutes of the drive if you need assistance or get stuck.

The Lodge and cabins we have at Sand Pond are situated about one hundred yards from beautiful sand pond (actually a lake). Sand Pond is a spring fed lake near the base of Silver Mountain which is a beautiful and close by hike to 360 views of the surrounding region/mountains. You will have easy and direct access to the sandy beach and swimming. The water is crystal clear and the water around the beach is very shallow which is great for children. The beach has a fire pit available as does the lodge. We have kayaks, a canoe and paddleboards available on the beach for guests to use.
