Willoughby Farm Animal Rescue

9 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents107 acres · Fairlee, VT
We are a 107-acre forest and farm animal rescue. Sleep with the sheep, alpacas, donkeys, potbellied pigs, and rabbits when you pitch your tent or park your camper on our Vermont Farm! Reserve the group site and sleep in the middle of the action! (You do not need a "group" to reserve the group site -- it is just our biggest site and can accommodate groups!). Co-located in the open, grassy area with the free-roaming farm rescues is our RV site. Co-located sites share a community fire ring, so it's a great way to meet and make new friends! Don't have a tent or RV? Spend a magical night in "The Greenhouse" (it's a real, working greenhouse that doubles as accommodations for those looking for a more "glamping" experience). Want a little privacy? Reserve one of our two tricked-out Tent Deck sites (Buddha North and Grandmother Pine), each with its own picnic table, private fire ring, and commercial-grade park grill. Nestled discretely in the forest adjacent to the area where the animals are, you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere even though you are less than a 5-minute walk from your car! Looking for something a bit more remote and spectacular? Hike a half-mile to the Big Sky Tent Deck. An incredible vista awaits you for a little effort! Need gear? We have it for rent, from cast iron grill baskets and griddles to make cooking over a charcoal grill or fire a breeze to tents to 1- and 2- burner propane stoves to tarps to water containers. We even have an Anker Portable Power Station and Portable Kerosene Heater for rent! Need Supplies? Charcoal? Propane? We've got it. ----- We are a small non-profit (501c3). When you stay with us, rent equipment from us, or take a tour with us, 100% of the money you pay goes directly for the care and feeding of the rescue animals. Thanks for supporting us in making a difference in the lives of neglected, abused, and abandoned farm animals! ----- IMPORTANT: MAY 24-26 2024 IS OUR VOLUNTEER WEEKEND AT THE RESCUE. LOTS OF PEOPLE, LOTS OF ACTION, LOTS OF FUN, LOTS OF POOP SHOVELLING AND MORE . ----- CHECK-IN TIME: 3:00 p.m.—7:00 p.m. Please arrive within this time window. If absolutely necessary, you may purchase a check-in extension for $15 in advance or $30 on arrival.

Mountain Home Tent Sites

3 sites · Tents200 acres · Tunbridge, VT
Mountain home tent sites sits on a nearly 200 acre historic hill farm in Tunbridge, VT. The land was cleared for farming in the 1790's and since that time has had only four land owners. The family that cleared the land is buried in a plot on the farm.Over the years the farm has undergone many changes, but dairy farming has been a consistent activity. Still actively farmed as Fledgling Farmstead, our farm is home to cows, sheep, chickens, goats, fruit trees, and a veggie and herb CSA and farm store. We also host workshops and on-farm events. Today Mountain Home Farm milks six Guernsey cows and makes butter, buttermilk and ricotta cheese. The forest is actively managed for firewood and saw logs. There are also beef, pigs and horses raised on the farm. The land is incredibly diverse from a high exposed hill top to a deep a forested mountain brook and everything in between. Come pitch your tent on a remote hill top surrounded by amazing views and nearly two hundred acres of diverse forests and pasture lands. These tents sites are located on an historic hill farm settled in 1790. Outhouse on site! There are trails for hiking and mountain biking (no dirt bikes or ATV's) all over the farm and a beautiful brook in a sheltered mountain valley. Just a 5 minute drive to the bottom of the hill is the first branch of White River; a beautiful clean river for swimming and fishing crossed by multiple covered bridges that lead to the farm. We hope you will come visit the farm and enjoy the remote mountainous beauty of Tunbridge!

Royalton Bed and Breakfast

4 sites · Lodging133 acres · Royalton, VT
The property has been in the family since before the town of Royalton was founded. In 1780, Garner Rix was 13 years old. He was captured in the Royalton Raid and taken to Montreal where he was sold to a woman who kept him safe for a year until it was safe for him to walk home, by himself, at age 14, and when he got back home the town gave him the land that I live on. Garner Rix was my great, great, great, great grandfather.

Sunnybrook Farm

1 site · RV, Tent15 acres · South Royalton, VT
One of the oldest properties in town the Day Homestead (as it is known) dates back hundreds of years and our house was built in 1810. It was run as a successful trout farm of 70+ years. Learn more about this land: We have two sites on our historic Vermont trout farm.  The first site sits near our post and beam "run in" horse barn.  It's a very flat site with easy road access and has 30 AMP electric service and we can provide potable water to fill up your tank. The second site sits a little further back (also very easy access) and closer to Quation Brook. It is better suited for boondocking as it is a little ways from the 30 AMP outlets. Again water is available. Our farm is very rural but close (2 miles) to interstate 89 with a well stocked country store in town. It's a  quiet setting near the gardens and a small stream. We are a small hobby farm that grows and sells produce to local coops.  We also produce and sell Vermont maple syrup and salsa..

Good Night Moon Vintage

5 sites · Lodging12 acres · Hartland, VT
Looking for a warm and cozy space?  Our vintage trailers are just the spot!  Our property is heavily wooded and late spring through fall are great times to enjoy the outdoors.  Many towns in Vermont had “poor farms” back in the day to deal with paupers, vagrants, debtors, widows, elderly and a host of others. Usually these farms were maintained by each town and residents were expected to contribute in some way. We understand that Hartland’s Poor Farm may have been up our road near our property. The Poor Farm system fell out of use with the advent of Social Security in the 1950’s. Our 12+ acres are beautifully wooded with our pond as the central point of interest. Original stone walls surround the property and wildlife abounds. Camping with a trailer is a fun experience for the adventurous.  While we do not have an enclosed kitchen, we provide an outdoor 3 burner propane grill, BBQ grill and smoker, a shared refrigerator, pans, utensils, olive oil, and dishwashing area, table and chairs.  We do want to emphasize that you are camping...this outdoor structure is not pristine.  We have a roof over the side of a container with electric, refrigerator.  It is NOT a kitchen, there are dirt and plywood floors and the occasional chipmunks and skunk visiting at night.  The trailers are not “perfect” but none of us will be at 73 and 64 years old!! :)  Bring anything else that you want to add for your own comfort, such as a cooler and ice.  We suggest bringing flashlights and rain gear.  There are many choices for dining in our area if you prefer to eat out.  Our Curtis Wright is 74 years old and the El Rey is 65.  Please expect some vintage aspects, such as door handles, screens, windows, awnings etc. that function according to their age and we will be upgrading them periodically.  These are not new modern trailers and we think that adds to the appeal! However they are clean and cozy! Your trailer is down by the pond, with  the composting outhouse, stove and BBQ grill.  Our sweet wildlife pond is pristine, spring fed, and has an abundance of wildlife in and around it.  You may even see the barred owls hunting for frogs at night.  Both trailers are pondside, the El Rey is across from the Curtis Wright.  Swimming is allowed, Please read the house rules regarding rinsing off prior to swimming and refraining from getting suntan oil etc. in the pond. We rent either the 1955 El Rey or our 1947 Curtis Wright Airstream.  Nights can be chilly so be prepared with warm clothes.  Please be aware of weather conditions as rain can impact your camping!  That’s part of what makes it so fun to be inside a trailer instead of in a tent on the ground!  However mud can be part of your experience outside the trailer. You are welcome to build a fire in the fire pit and toast marshmallows or grill.... Kindling is available as fallen branches however for larger wood, please purchase locally for whatever you intend to use, or order from us.  We do ask that you start your fire the old fashioned way and do NOT use gas, diesel etc. which will leech into the pond and harm our wildlife.  We usually have wood on site for sale, advance request is much appreciated and please pay upon arrival with cash, $10 per ample sized bundle and $15 for a bag of charcoal. Our wonderful resident bats do a great job at night clearing insects!  Sit out by the pond and watch them arrive at dusk!   Our Phoebe Flycatchers build their mud nests all over the property and have 2 baby bird hatchings usually by mid-summer.  They help keep insects down as well.  If it’s a clear night, the stars are usually amazing in the sky over the pond. We live up in the house and are available to you as much as you’d like!  We prefer that you do contact us with your needs to ensure a great experience.  For showers, guests can make the 5.7 mile drive down to Quechee State Park and pay a $4 day fee to use the solar showers which take quarters.  The park closes October 17th this year.  If you reserve after that date there will not be showers available. Our place is close to Woodstock and Quechee VT. You’ll love us if you enjoy a natural setting on a mountain. We are best for couples and solo adventurers. It is a rustic environment with a great wildlife pond and woods surrounded by old stone walls. Get out and explore the area and come home at night to the cozy vintage trailer. Our 1955 El Rey OR our 1947 Curtis Wright Airstream are this season’s rentals, a cozy 20 feet in length. If one is rented we will give you the other trailer as available. The beds are somewhere between a full and queen, we provide fresh linens, pillows, blankets. There are closets and a front table and seating area, adirondack chairs outside with umbrellas. We have seating around the larger fire pit. The El Rey has its own smaller private fire pit and a small grill.  You may cook on a 3 burner propane stove in our outdoor cook station and each trailer has a charcoal grill..  You will need charcoal.  We have firewood and charcoal for sale onsite with 24 hour advance notice.   Included in your stay is olive oil, salt and pepper, organic tea bar, electric kettle, complimentary coffee and cream. We have our well water available. We also have basic dishes, silverware and pots and pans for use. The communal camp cookware has been used over high gas flames so if Uber cleanliness is your thing...you may want to bring your own.  For chilly nights we have a small electric heater in the camper closet and extra blankets. There is a fan for when it’s warmer. Our composting toilet is inside a small barn structure with towels, bug repellent, cleaning supplies. For showers, head down to Quechee State Park and for a $4.00 entrance fee, use their solar showers which take quarters. PLEASE NOTE- you do not have our property to yourselves. We live onsite and on any given night, both trailers can be rented. They are across the pond from each other. The cook station and composting toilet are communally used. We do give our guests privacy but we are available to assist with needs by phone, or if you see us on the property. We will close camp in October and re-open each May.  IMPORTANT-PLEASE PLAN TO CHECK IN BETWEEN 3 and 6:30 pm. We understand that you may wish to arrive later at the end of your day, but this is not a location where we can accommodate arrivals after dark. We need to show you the nuances of the trailers, cook station, composting outhouse and property. After checking in, you can head back out for dinner, shopping etc. as we are a mere 5 miles from Quechee. We further request that you communicate your arrival time no later that early the day of so that we can greet you. We plan our day around your arrival and ask that you respect our time as well. NEW- we now charge a “cash only exact change” late arrival fee of $25.00 if you are past check in time. Unfortunately we are experiencing too many guests who choose to arrive well after dark, which impacts our availability to provide you the best check in service and interrupts our evening late into the night. Please communicate with us early in the day if you experience hardship regarding arrival time and we can discuss options.   Any photography done with our property must be for personal use only and not professional use nor intended for publication. You must have advance (prior to arrival) permission for professional photography which will also require a contract for fees and terms. We also must restrict the use of our property to registered guests only, not your friends. We also require that you read our house manual in the trailers to commit to requirements such as no smoking or open flame in trailers, use of pond, etc. All guests swim and hike our property at their own risk.  We ask that you only swim during daylight hours.  We are NOT a clothing optional space. Please respect all guests by swimming in appropriate clothing.  Thank you.  We reserve the right to refuse service.
