Welcome to Slatki Dom (“Sweet Home” in Bosnian), our beautiful retreat in the woods.
Our land abuts a hiking trail on the side of Spruce Mountain, and we are about ¼ mile from the trailhead to the Spruce Mountain Trail and L.R. Jones State Forest, the oldest state forest in Vermont. Cross-country skiing trails are nearby, and ski resorts are 40 minutes to an hour away. Ten minutes down the road is the quaint Plainfield Village, with a small pizza shop, used bookstore, café, and gas station.
Five minutes farther is Fox Market and Bar, along with the River Oddities shop. A twenty-minute drive from the cabin brings you to the cities of Montpelier or Barre, which host a variety of museums, parks, local stores, restaurants, and a few larger chains and grocery stores.
At night, the futon folds into a double bed that comfortably sleeps two. There are lamps upstairs and downstairs, as well as plenty of outlets to charge your devices for the next day’s adventures.
Accessibility Notes:
Parking is available for two cars. There is a 500-foot walking path through the woods to the cabin. The cabin is not ADA accessible and has a set of steep stairs— not quite a ladder, but steep!
No pets, please, as we have two sweet cats and a loving dog who prefer to have their space. 🙂

Welcome to Hilltop Gardens! Our tiny house will keep you cozy at this private gem.
Rest on a full bed up in the loft, or chill on the main floor where there’s floor space, a small heater, mini fridge, sink, stove top, and basic cookware. There is no running water in the tiny but a large jug(s) will be provided and there is an outhouse on-site.
Outside you’ll have access to lovely perennial gardens in a low key setting. Beautiful sunsets, mountain views, wildlife and a friendly onsite dog(no pets plz) round out this sweet spot!
The house is a short walk to Berlin Pond for fishing and non motorized boating, and mountain bike and hiking trails at Irish Hill. Also, 45 minutes or less from Burlington, Waterbury, Sugarbush, Stowe or Bolton Valley. A 5-15 minute drive will get you access to groceries, great restaurants and a fitness center!
During the Winter months, 4wd (and studs) will be required to access this steep Class 4 road.

Welcome to Slatki Dom (“Sweet Home” in Bosnian), our beautiful retreat in the woods.
Our land abuts a hiking trail on the side of Spruce Mountain, and we are about ¼ mile from the trailhead to the Spruce Mountain Trail and L.R. Jones State Forest, the oldest state forest in Vermont. Cross-country skiing trails are nearby, and ski resorts are 40 minutes to an hour away. Ten minutes down the road is the quaint Plainfield Village, with a small pizza shop, used bookstore, café, and gas station.
Five minutes farther is Fox Market and Bar, along with the River Oddities shop. A twenty-minute drive from the cabin brings you to the cities of Montpelier or Barre, which host a variety of museums, parks, local stores, restaurants, and a few larger chains and grocery stores.
At night, the futon folds into a double bed that comfortably sleeps two. There are lamps upstairs and downstairs, as well as plenty of outlets to charge your devices for the next day’s adventures.
Accessibility Notes:
Parking is available for two cars. There is a 500-foot walking path through the woods to the cabin. The cabin is not ADA accessible and has a set of steep stairs— not quite a ladder, but steep!
No pets, please, as we have two sweet cats and a loving dog who prefer to have their space. 🙂

Our home location has served as a cornerstone in the East Valley since 1857 by servicing as a General Store and gathering place for our beloved community. The building on site is also the home to Middle Branch Collaborative, a non-profit corporation, that is dedicated to enriching our community by creating a place we can gather and nourish each other through food, education and support. Being a place where community is more important that profit and we can cultivate self-sufficiency on every level.
Just steps away from the cabins Middle Branch Collaborative will have coffee and breakfast sandwiches available for purchase as well as muffin, baked good, grab and go salads, sandwiches and dinners. We can also coordinate food orders, forging or harvesting experiences.
The cabins are nestled in the middle of an Unconventional Homestead Project, adding to the uniqueness of your stay. While these cabins are technically located in a parking lot you will soon see its anything but a conventional one. Within the fenced in area, you will find rabbits, goats and chickens a series of raised gardens and some permaculture projects.
We are situated on the second branch of the White River with river access it's a great spot to swim and play or wash up.

We have an acre of land in the Vermont countryside that is just off a country road tucked away and surrounded by trees.
Our tiny house, primarily made from recycled materials and totally off the grid, is a great way to get away from the world and all the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Learn how to be resourceful and use solar power, rain catchment, and a compost toilet while you are one with nature. You will be basically camping with a hot shower, beds, cookstove, and a fireplace. There are many hiking and biking trails nearby, waterholes and lakes, and of course you are within a half hour drive of Jay Peak resort and four minutes from Lake Carmi State Park.
Cell reception is limited in this area of Vermont. There is no internet access in the property as well. There is a town 7 miles away with most of the basic necessities.

It was cozy and warm.
Tucked away on a hillside with Berlin Pond in view,, it really was the perfect getaway!
It was close enough to Bolton Valley and Sugarbush Ski Resort and ,also near Montpelier so I could get a delicious meal in town after snowboarding all day.

This is a beautiful spot and a handsome, well-appointed tiny house. We are a family of four--two kids and two adults--and we have stayed at several tiny houses (the kids really enjoy them), and we were impressed with Jamie's place. The road does run right by the house, so that you can hear cars going by, but it still feels private because of the trees and growth between the tiny house and the road. We had a lovely fire, and were grateful for the firewood provided. We had not spent time in Milton before and enjoyed it very much as well. Of course Burlington is not far, but there is also a drive-in movie theater pretty close by, handy tasty places for take-out, and a Hannafords.
