The site is accessed by a gravel driveway off a Class 4 road, and you can park close to the site. In winter, when there is snow on the ground, the Class 4 road isn’t plowed past the bridge, so you’ll need to walk in—about 50 yards from the parking area. Firewood is provided for the wood stove. The site is near our home (about 100 meters away through the woods) but is relatively private. It’s within a short drive or bike ride to some of the best mountain biking and hiking (Camel’s Hump, Mount Abe) and cross-country skiing (Sleepy Hollow, Camel’s Hump Nordic, Catamount Trail) in Vermont. We are 15 minutes from Richmond and Hinesburg, 20 minutes from Mad River Glen, and just a half hour from Burlington. The site does get cell reception, but the cabin has no electricity or other facilities, so all waste must be packed out. We provide a bucket commode, but please bring your own trash bags to pack out all waste.

The Rooney Farm is an 820 acre working organic dairy farm and maple sugarbush in Morristown, VT that has been stewarded by the Rooney family for four generations. We milk a herd of fifty holstein, jersey, guernsey, and ayrshire cows. We are right off the Long Trail, Catamount Trail, and VAST trail systems. We have mountain bike trails on the farm as well as a great swimming hole. We have miles of hiking trails that link up to the Beaver Meadow trail network in the Vermont State Forest as well as Morristown Forest trails. Our camp has two full size beds and sleeps four people. The camp is not winterized: will protect you from wind and snow but not the cold!

The Guide Cabin On Honcho Mountain

The Guide Cabin is accessed via a half snowshoe/hike/bike from the Rt100 killington . You must snowshoe or ski up in the winter, and you must hike or bike up in the summer. It is carry in and carry out for all your belongings. Vehicles are not permitted on the trails. BACKCOUNTRY SKIING IS ONLY PERMITTED WITH A GUIDE. Skiing gladed ski runs requires a guide and is not included in the cabin rental. For more information, please contact us for more information and check out our backcountry skiing page. In general, there are two common ways to get to the cabin: No driving or ATV’s allowed to get to the cabin, you must hike/bike/ski/snowshoe in. No snowshoeing or hiking on the ski trails. No Pets Heat: The cabin is heated with a wood stove, and instructions are provided inside. You should be comfortable operating a wood stove if you are reserving the Guide Cabin. Guests are responsible for making their own fires, and the cabin will likely not be warm when you arrive

Weekend Trip to Riverside Retreat and Tiny Cabin

Wonderfully warm and curated cozy cabin! It was a wet, chilly, late fall weekend and we were so comfortable in Robbin’s tiny house. Everything was just as described and we likewise had everything + more we needed. Really enjoyed the sound system and super appreciated the ample water provided. Love the added space of the lofted bed. The pull down ladder went with the overall fun, creative vibe of the spot. Would absolutely recommend and stay again!

We enjoyed the horse run in! The run in was clean and had everything we needed. Very much enjoyed the wood burning stove, hot tub, and fire pit. We found the dvd player, books, and record player charming. The farm is beautiful and we enjoyed the town of Londonderry. While the listed rules were a bit overwhelming, Ben and Loana were very kind and hospitable and easy to deal with (it was only surprising bc the rules had set a bit of a different tone). I would highly recommend.

Staying in Oma’s cabin was beautiful. The cabin feels handmade down to the smallest detail. You can feel the hosts’ Erin and Philip’s care in everything about the place. Excellent kitchen set up with everything necessary to cook meals and clean up. The stove kept the cabin warm and comfortable when it was cold and windy outside. Luna the dog came by to say hi. Fire pit is great for having a fire under the stars. Walking distance to a great hiking trail. Really just a perfect off-grid cabin in the woods.

A little slice of paradise and EXACTLY what I was looking for. Key element such as cosiness, impressive surround sound system, a great Vermont view, and everything in good working order and easy to access. I loved it so much I extended my stay :-). We stayed here while mountain biking the Heart of the Greens loop on the Velomont trail. It was the perfect spot. The stars were amazing, sunrise was fantastic and the descent in the morning was great. Matt was responsive and recommended some great trails. I want to back already.

I love staying at Fernando's cabin with my dog. They had everything I needed and nothing I didn't. The hot tub in the sauna were a real bonus. Loana and Ben were not in the least bit intrusive, but we're quick to respond when I had a question. Their sweet lab Simon greeted us as we were leaving. Would definitely return.
