Weekend Trip to Shaker Mountain Refuge

Our stay at Coyote Lean-to was an amazing and memorable experience with a breath-taking view. Medora is a very kind and thoughtful host. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning one day. Thanks very much Medora for welcoming us so warmly this weekend!

Weekend Trip to Woodbury Meadows

You don't want to miss this one. We arrived wet and dirty after biking in the rain, and Woodbury Meadows had us covered. (literally!) The "glamp site" had a canopy over the picnic table, a wooden platform we could put our tent on, a sink with water right at the site, electricity for charging our phones, and more. Tha bathroom/shower was wonderful (a bit of a walk from the site but worth it), and we were even able to wash our icky clothes (donation based washer and dryer). Jon is an excellent host and made sure we were all set. The place itself is really beautiful and peaceful. At night we heard frogs peeping and owls hooting.

Another amazing Memorial Weekend spent at Ebb N Flow! Stayed the same site both times and planned our next trip for this coming July already! 😝 We were met with so many upgrades to the property including extended WiFi that reached our site, a new bath house with one shower and 2 sinks and toilets. This is a must stay site! Jeff and Jill are the best HipCamp hosts we’ve ever had! Even helped up put up and take down our tarp to block the rain from soaking our tent!

We absolutely adore Camp Ebb N Flow- the peace, and quiet, the amazing hosts and their dogs, the big fire pit, and the good company of the other guests we have met. Then of course the beautiful grassy meadow, musical brook, and the absolutely fabulous new bathhouse! We enjoy the full hook up when available, but other W/E sites on the Brook are lovely.

Weekend Trip to BlueberryHill Field Camp

We loved camping here! Large field with beautiful views of the mountain. Felt very private, even with another site booked. Direct access to fantastic hiking/ biking trails. And so many amenities that it almost didn’t feel like camping. We had full use of the Outdoor Center with WiFi, bathroom, outdoor showers with HOT water, and snacks/ drinks available for purchase. The host also provided a huge crate or firewood that included paper, cardboard and so much wood- worth purchasing in advance! Shari was an amazing host and really made us feel welcome. We ended up extending our stay by another night because it was such a special place. . Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Old Stone House Museum VT

We had a great night at the Stone House Museum. The museum was just closing when we arrived but we did a self-guided tour with the provided brochure. We were the only ones at the campsites and the amenities were as advertised. Site was quiet with just the noise of an occasional Amish buggy passing.

2 nights at Islands Base Camp

Stayed at Joan and Bob’s place with my dog for a couple nights and loved the location. They were very accommodating showing us the amenities upon arrival. For the shoulder season there is surprisingly lots to do in the area. Wally’s Bagels is an absolute MUST. On our last morning we woke up to some cows right outside the roof top tent we were staying in which was a nice surprise lol. Only thing I wish I had done was grab some of their beef for my next camp spot.

2 nights at Broadfork Farmstead

Excellent spring stay at Carol's place for two nights. I was a cyclist on the LVRT getting on the trail in nearby Greensboro Bend, VT. Bus is electrified with wireless and is located right in front of the pastures for enjoyable views of the animals. The bed was comfortable and I requested the electric heater for overnight as it went down to the 30s (and I was comfortable). Carol is very knowledgeable about the area and is extremely responsive to contact. There is a tiny town with a library and general store and lake access nearby. I ordered a breakfast and a lunch and it was AMAZING!!!! I cannot say enough good things about the food.

The Alcove at Martin's Pond

This pristine and remote half acre of paradise is nestled between three hard and soft wooded lots set on the farther side of Peacham's Hidden Gem of Martin's Pond. The pond, which houses a Loon sanctuary, is situated on the back side of the expansive Groton State Forest, underneath the Looming Beauty of Devil's Hill. Remote Camping at its finest, campers will have access to a rustic out house and solar shower, as well as the clean waters of the pond for their use. Two Kayaks, with paddles and adult life vests are available for use on-site. Life jackets must be worn at all times. Please message for details. A small Shed on property can be accessed if dry storage space is needed. Firewood (one bundle & kindling) and fire pit will be provided. If you would like additional firewood during your stay, please use the "add-on" feature and select how many bundles of wood you would like. Pets are also welcome, but please review the pet-deposit under "add-ons." Campers are expected to bring their own accommodations: Tent, Sleeping Bag, pad, cooking stove/ fuel, etc. For bikers and backpackers, the extensive back roads of Peacham, VT as well as the hiking of Devil's Hill and other parts of Groton State Forrest should provide ample space for discovery. Not to mention the pond itself for boating enthusiasts. Currently, power and cell service are non existent on the property. Quiet camping generators are not discouraged so long as they are not in use during quiet hours. Lake Tenting/Sm. RV Hyde Park VT

You have your choice of camping with your van or small RV, small trailer or tent, in a level, forested area (not lakeside) with picnic table and fire pit, or tenting lakeside with water views, picnic table and fire pit, or both! You have access to both, one reservation comes with both spots, so you can enjoy the lakeside regardless of where you sleep. Vehicles cannot reach the tent site, it is a steep trail about a 150 feet. Although our campsite is near the lake, you cannot drive to the water from the campsite. It is a steep, short hike down to the water. There is one canoe at the campsite you are free to use. Bring your own bring canoes, kayaks and/ or paddle boards to enjoy the superb water. There are no motor boats on the lake, so the paddling and swimming is great. There are three private homes on the lake, adjacent to where your site it located so we ask that no loud partying, play music only quietly and no generators. There are no campers on either side of your campsite, we only offer one, campsite. There is a nice, clean outhouse and no other amenities (Tier D in HipCamp-speak). No on site water but it can be obtained at our house, just ask. We have a dog on the property, who is friendly and off leash. If having a dog come visit would be a problem for you, please don't make a reservation. If you plan on bringing a dog please let us know. No more than two dogs allowed.

As private as private gets but only 6 miles to Newport Vt. There is a creek and a one acre pond (20 feet deep). It is all mixed hard and softwoods. It has some magnificent old growth trees 100 foot tall. There is a good rd that my friend has used with his Lincoln. Most any vehicle (car or Pickup)can get to the site. It gets a little tricky if you are pulling a trailer. A small one is OK but a large one - not so much....... The rd goes 1/2 mile to the rear of the land. Moose, deer and other critters visit too. We live 1/2 mile away from where you enter the woodlot. Our house is on Brownington Pond (200+ acres) & campers can use this site for swimming, boating & fishing. There is a cabin on the property, which is available for limited rentals. However, we have a great flat yard just a short (2 min) walk to South Pond thats perfect for a tent. There's a rustic outhouse, fire pit, picnic table, and usually games like badminton setup. Our property is a couple miles down a private dirt road. Fishing is great (with a license of course), and the water is perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding.

Conserved by the South Hero Land Trust, the historic Sawyer Bay Farm on the Island of South Hero was converted to grazing beef cattle. Our farm name is Health Hero Farm. We practice intensive planned grazing, moving the cattle daily to fresh grass. The herd may be near the campsites or completely out of sight, somewhere on our 180 acres. While we were building a house, we camped in the equipment shed during the summer and grew to value its convenience. Joan's enjoyment of cycling inspired her to designate the farm stand as a "bike stop" where visitors could buy a snack, get water, fix their bikes and use the unique islands amenity of a composing toilet in a converted ice fishing shack. South Hero is an agricultural island, as well as a summer tourist destination with numerous outdoor activities. It is also only a half-hour away from Burlington, and the drive is pleasurable. Pitch your tent, stow your gear under cover and explore all the islands have to offer. Yes, this is a summer destination, with great cycling, boating and swimming. We are a grass-fed beef operation, Health Hero Farm, on the island of South Hero. (You can read more about us on our farm website. ) Our farm is on the bike route around the islands, with access to many other vacation activities. Pitch your tent in the farmstead or in half of our empty equipment shed 30' x 60'. Or tool on down the farm road and be alone with the cattle and grass. In the shed, which is open on the north side, you have shelter from the rain, sun and wind. We have two campsites that can share a microwave, hot plate, refrigerator, camp sink and coffee maker in the barn. Lots of storage under roof for bikes and luggage. Our composting toilet (from Natures Head Composting Toilet) is a unique amenity -- installed in a retired ice-fishing shack (on skis). During the busy summer months, we may have a port-o-let (a.k.a. port-a-potty) with professional service. In the winter, the equipment shed not available. We rent out vehicle and boat storage in the equipment shed and cannot accommodate camping there. However, we have ample parking for RVs at any time of the year. And if you are an experienced snow camper, we have several locations to choose from. We have a farm stand where you can buy a few snacks. If you want to try our beef, we'll be happy to show you our freezers. We are 2 miles from a convenience store that packs an amazing array of products into a small space. We are close to a gem of a public beach, a winery (Snow Farm Vineyard), apple orchards, a public school playground, and miles of scenic driving. Local farmers markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays offer some of the best produce from these agricultural islands. We also own 1000' frontage on Lake Champlain, which you may enjoy. It is difficult to access, but affords privacy and serenity. We allow campfires on the gravel areas of the farm and on the beach, where you can gather dead wood. If you want to host a large group, you will need to reserve both campsites and rent a port-o-let (Vermont's lingo for porta-potty) if we don't already have one. Additional fees might apply. There is no RV electrical hookup; however, the equipment shed has electric outlets for your use. Additional fees apply for energy intensive appliances, such as heaters or air conditioners. There is no water hookup; however, we can fill your tanks with a hose from a potable water supply. Generators are not allowed, unless you are sufficiently distanced from other campers and our neighbors. Other accommodations may be available. Just ask! We have many resources, and want you to have a great visit.

Camp Ebb and Flow

Camp Ebb and Flow is located on the western edge of the White Mountains, near the crossing of the Appalachian Trail and a short drive to VT. Three lakes nearby for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. Hiking trails nearby. The camp offers RV sites with water, electricity, and sewer, an RV site with no hookups, and several tent sites. One of the tent sites has water and electricity and another has electricity with nearby water. There is bathhouse with two toilets and two vanities as well as a shower with changing room. Potable water is also available from a spigot at the bathhouse. There are over six acres of mowed fields for activities and walking. There is also a lovely brook running through the property with many areas you can cool off in from the summer heat. This property has a lengthy history going back to colonial times. It’s been a farm, an apple orchard, and once had a sawmill. Please check the calendar for available dates. Check-in is no later than 9pm unless late arrival arrangements have been made prior to booking. Whenever possible, try to arrive before dark because there are no lights at most sites, which can make setup difficult. A note regarding electric vehicles (EV): If you have an electric vehicle and would like to tent camp, please select one of our full hookup RV sites. If you have the proper electric adapter for your vehicle, you can charge your vehicle at the 30A RV plug while tenting in the field near the RV site. We do not supply these adapters, and we cannot allow you to charge your vehicle unless you have reserved an RV site with full hookups. If you do not see an open site for the days you'd like to get away, please contact us. Sometimes we can make other arrangements, allowing you to stay.

Bridgeview Harbour Marina

Bridgeview Harbour Marina is a family owned and operated full service marina, event space, and camping area on the Adirondack shore of Lake Champlain. Established in 2020 the Marina provides seasonal and overnight slips and moorings to boaters, fisherman, and lake-goers, three camp sites, and an on-site cafe. Marina services are available May thru October each year, with other events and services available throughout the year. The marina is set on 33 acres along Lake Champlain and hosts ~4150 feet of lake-frontage, it is accessible via car, boat, or via the adjacent Amtrak rail line. Prior to becoming a marina in 1989, the property was home to a very large Iron Foundry, rail yard, and barge-loading operation known as Cedar Point. Cedar point, part of the larger Witherbee-Sherman Mining Company, operated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries smelting iron ore to be shipped throughout the world via the Lake Champlain Canal and Hudson River, and is credited with providing iron to some of America's leading projects at the time. Some remains of the sites industrious past can be observed throughout the property. From Father's Day to Labor Day, the Marina hosts the Port Henry Waterfront Farmers' Market every Friday between 5PM and 8PM. There are many options for camp sites including just off road to deep in woods on logging roads & landings. Sites are not fixed - pick one you like in the non-farm zone, respecting other campers, and enjoy your visit. Note: This is real country - not a hotel, motel or groomed camp ground nor groomed trails. It is a working farm and forest. There is no front desk, no 24/7 service. Be attentive about clearance on your vehicles on side roads, logging trails and log landings. Logging & Side Roads & Landings are dirt/gravel. Some lower vehicles may have difficulty with clearance expecially in wet and muddy weather. There are many camping sites that are accessible near the main roads and better landings where you can park. Occasionally there is logging activity to stay clear of - it will be obvious as there is big equipment and log piles then. Please stay outside of the fenced Farm Zone areas. Fences are electricified for the livestock and there are big livestock guardian herding dogs in the farm zone. There are acres and acres (>100?) of wild raspberries and blackberries all over the mountains and valley - a delight for the tongue in their seasons roughly July to September. Dozens of wild apple trees abound as well. In the past people have grown marijuana on my land without permission - if you find any, go ahead and take it. A plethora and diversity of wildlife. Bring your cameras and binoculars but no guns, bows or traps. General store and Post Office 1.5 miles south of farm on Route-25. Barre town 9.5 miles north on Route-302 with Montpelier just a little further, each having a wide range of dining & shopping as well as local sights. There are many local lakes and rivers with great swiming. Groton Lake with it's Boulder Beach is just up Rt-302 a few miles to our east. A little further you'll find Lake Champlain, Lake Fairlee, Lake Morey and the Connecticut River as well as many other lakes and rivers in Vermont. PORK, both fresh and smoked, available most times from farm by appointment. Currently I have bacon, smoked jowl, smoked ham, smoked trotters and smoked hocks in stock. FIREWOOD - Vermont bans bringing firewood in from other states because of pest and disease risks so get the wood locally. You may use downed wood laying on the ground for your grill but please do not cut down trees. Dead lower branches of spruce and pine may be trimmed and they make excellent kindling. Cut close to the trunk to leave it safe for others. I also usually have dry firewood you can purchase for $10 per bundle. Much of the year fires are allowed such as when snow is on the ground. Check the Vermont State web site here: https://fpr.vermont.gov/forest/wildland-fire/monitoring-fire-danger Please leave farm gates closed, stay out of fenced (electric!) farm fields, do not feed farm animals, keep roads open for others and be respectful of other campers, neighbors & locals. Fences in the farm area are typically electrified - no touch. Please note that I have big farm dogs who guard and herd our livestock. Please do not bring your dogs into the farm area (shown on map) as my dogs will see your dogs as possible threats to their livestock. Well behaved dogs, children and adults are welcome in the forest land. A leash is recommended if you do not have good voice control of dogs and children. Remember I farm so I may not always reply to texts quickly and I'm rarely near the front gate. My house is over 500' higher up the mountain from the front gate and road so I may not hear you even if you honk, especially at night.
