3 nights at Vermont Rustic Retreat
Kathleen and John’s cabin is a treasure. It’s exactly as cozy and beautiful as the pictures suggest, and well stocked with the essentials for a comfortable stay. I spent 4 days in December there during consistent snow fall and high winds and never suffered for it. There was ample wood for the stove and fresh water. It was an ideal setting for my trip.
And beyond all that, the hosts were extremely thoughtful and caring, even going so far to help me unstuck my car from the unforgiving vermont snowscape.
I can’t recommend it enough. 10/10

2 nights at Vermont Rustic Retreat
The view is beautiful! We were lucky to have arrived after a few inches of snow had fallen and it stayed on the trees the whole time we were there-it was absolutely gorgeous! We saw deer cross the road, heard owls and coyotes. Trails at the end of the road. As it states the cabin is small but Kathleen made excellent use of the space and 2 adults in there was just fine. Very cozy, more than enough wood to keep the woodstove going and have campfires. Everything you need is already provided. Was cloudy when we were there but on a clear night it would be a fantastic place to stargaze. Kathleen was a wonderful hostess. Very accommodating, very responsive and just a sweetheart all around.

We loved staying at Kathleen’s place! The cabin is very private, feels completely safe, and the view is fantastic. Everything was very clean and nicely organized, and the minute you arrive you have everything you need. Even though the weather was cold, we stayed cozy and warm thanks to the wood stove, which was surprisingly efficient. The kindling and firewood were fully stocked as well, making the stay easy and comfortable. A wonderful experience overall! Thank you:)

Staying at Kathleen’s cabin was exactly the place we needed to unwind and enjoy Vermont at its fullest. The cabin has the most amazing view on the valley. It’s really well equipped and has everything you need.
Kathleen was super communicative and even helped us find the cabin in the dark (we missed the sign). We stayed there with our dachshund who loved running around and feeling free outside of the city!

We enjoyed our northern VT glamping experience in this cozy rustic cabin. I took advantage of the appliances and made coffee each morning and kept some local cabot cheese and salami in the fridge for snacking between adventures. The dogs loved the porch and grounds. We did have an animal having itself a time one night under the cabin which woke me up (just in case you have a noise sensitive pup) but the second night it was quiet! We enjoyed a local hike and hill farmstead brewery during our stay. Close to local ponds for paddling too if that’s your preference. I didn’t have great service (verizon) and had to go to town for some parts of the day to respond to messages/plan next travels (downloading maps etc) so be mindful of that if you’re staying here! Overall, it was a very cozy experience and I’d definitely recommend it.

Such a great place! Super quiet and secluded. The building had nice amenities and was super clean and well-kept. We brought our German Shepherd who enjoyed the stay just as much as us! Kathleen was very welcoming offering us veggies from the garden and providing us with information about what to do in the area. Highly recommended! We want to go back!

Had a wonderful Fourth of July weekend! Kathleen and John had some great hiking trail recommendations for us and were very nice and hospitable. The cabin was so cozy and the views were gorgeous. 10/10!!

We had a great weekend at the cottage. The backyard and brook on the property are beautiful, and it was quiet, quaint, and close enough to stores and supermarkets to buy groceries. The CBD lotions and salves were such a bonus! I am giving 4 stars because the listing isn't accurate--there are no twin beds, just a queen sized air mattress and an upstairs queen bed. This did throw our sleeping arrangement off and we had to get creative with where we would all sleep. Using the shower was also tricky, and extra blankets weren't available when it was chilly at night. However, we would still all stay again, it was a very special and magical property!

Beautiful property with everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Great views from the massive deck overlooking the vineyard and surrounding mountains. Even though the cabin is “off grid” you still have all the amenities of most air bnbs at half the cost. Would not book on a very hot weekend due to lack of AC but then again, you are on a camping app and shouldn’t expect that. We will likely return and also recommend to friends.

2 nights at Vermont Rustic Retreat
AMAZING views!!! The cabin was beautifully rustic! We typically bring all of our own gear. However, Kathleen and John had everything you could need! Their dead end road leads to beautiful trails through the tapped maple trees into a large field. Our dogs ran like crazy!! Kathleen and John were gracious enough to let us borrow their snow shoes! Very nice people and private cabin! We also checked out Hill Farmstead Brewery a short drive away, which is ranked on many levels for many beers. Thanks for the stay!

Weekend Trip to Vermont Rustic Retreat
We had a wonderful weekend getaway here! Such a cozy cabin with expansive views of Stowe and Mansfield, and well connected to outdoor recreation areas. The cabin itself was very comfortable with its wood burning stove and sleeper futon and was well furnished with cooking supplies and silverware. The host Kathleen was really helpful and had great recommendations for activities in the area. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Vermont Rustic Retreat
We arrived just before a large snowfall and had an amazing time snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Can't say enough about the hosts! They were communicative, highly flexible, friendly, and so generous with their time, resources, and knowledge. They made sure we were safe getting there and leaving on wintery roads, let us borrow some ski gear, made sure we were warm enough, showed us the nearby ski trails, and cleared the drive for us to leave on a particularly snowy morning. You can ski right from the cabin on pristine trails and snowshoe all you want. The cabin stays warmer than others we've stayed in during the winter with a wood stove. The hosts provided plenty of drinking water and wood. Very comfortable futon. Spectacular views. Quiet, safe, private. Electricity was a welcome touch. It doesn't get better than this for a winter weekend getaway. Thank you, hosts, for everything! We hope to be back again one day!

Weekend Trip to Vermont Rustic Retreat
It was perfect for my personal retreat. The pictures were exactly what I expected. It was a snowy cold weekend and I was able to keep cozy warm with the wood stove and all the wood to keep the fire burning! Great place to cross country ski in trail and blazing into the forest, woods and open space. They offered up skate for the pond and a sled too!
Kathleen and John were fabulous hosts, they made me feel like I met new friends. They respected my privacy and made sure I was comfortable, safe and warm.

We really enjoyed our 3 days getaway at Kathleen and John's cabin. They are such genuine and warm people, we could'nt ask for a better first Hipcamp experience. They made sure we were comfortable and have everything we need. They also respected our intimity, which we appreciated a lot.
The morning after our arrival, our hosts guided us thought the cross-country ski trails surrounding their property. This was so much fun. Our labrador retriever was in paradise, running free and following fresh deer and rabbit tracks in the snow.
Their cozy cabin, once the playground of their two now adult sons, was exacly what we were looking for during our holidays/winter break. A wood stove, a stunning view over the mountains, the essential to prepare our meals and stay warm (we always bring our camping gear anyway to make sure!) and some board games and books to fill our free time.
The town of Cabot, where you will find a little grocery store, is about a 10 minutes drive and the renowed Hill Farmstead Brewey, about 30 minutes from Kathleen and John's place.
Thank you both for such a delighful time!
Hope to see you again, in the summer time perhaps.
