Firewood is provided. Near our home about 120m/400 feet away through the trees but relatively private. Within a short pedal or drive to some of the best mountain biking and hiking Vermont has to offer, 15 minutes to Richmond and Hinesburg, and just a half hour to Burlington. Electricity on site, primitive fire pit, but no other facilities, so ALL waste must be packed out. We have a bucket commode to loan if you don’t have your own.

The campsite is roughly 10m x 30m (30' x 100'), large enough for several tents or a small camper/RV. It is accessed by a sloped 50m (about 150') gravel driveway. The narrowest part of the driveway is 2.6m (about 8.5 feet). There is a 3m x 3m (10' x 10') tent platform and a large picnic table. Firewood is provided. Near our home about 120m/400 feet away through the trees but relatively private. Within a short pedal or drive to some of the best mountain biking and hiking Vermont has to offer, 15 minutes to Richmond and Hinesburg, and just a half hour to Burlington. Electricity on site, primitive fire pit, but no other facilities, so ALL waste must be packed out. We have a bucket commode to loan if you don’t have your own.

The view is beautiful! We were lucky to have arrived after a few inches of snow had fallen and it stayed on the trees the whole time we were there-it was absolutely gorgeous! We saw deer cross the road, heard owls and coyotes. Trails at the end of the road. As it states the cabin is small but Kathleen made excellent use of the space and 2 adults in there was just fine. Very cozy, more than enough wood to keep the woodstove going and have campfires. Everything you need is already provided. Was cloudy when we were there but on a clear night it would be a fantastic place to stargaze. Kathleen was a wonderful hostess. Very accommodating, very responsive and just a sweetheart all around.

We had such a lovely stay here! The host was incredibly responsive to all our questions, and the cabin was exactly what we were looking for. It came with a portable heater inside that kept us warm at night (just remember to turn on the gas outside first!). Without proper winter clothing, it might be a bit chilly to stay here during the colder months, but we went toward the end of October and it was still perfect! And the hot tub!! Such a clever and wonderful addition! Just a heads up: you’ll need to build a strong fire to get it hot within about 3 hours, and you’ll likely want to make two fires - one for the tub and another to sit back and enjoy. Be sure to bring lanterns, as it gets dark pretty quickly once the sun sets. Even though we had cloudy skies, we could tell that on a clear night the stargazing would be incredible. The cabin is well-equipped with dishes and running water for light cooking, brushing teeth, etc. There’s also a small convenience store about 8 minutes away on the main road. Overall, we would highly recommend this place. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning!

Weekend Trip to Vermont Rustic Retreat
Staying at Kathleen’s cabin was exactly the place we needed to unwind and enjoy Vermont at its fullest. The cabin has the most amazing view on the valley. It’s really well equipped and has everything you need. Kathleen was super communicative and even helped us find the cabin in the dark (we missed the sign). We stayed there with our dachshund who loved running around and feeling free outside of the city!

The cabin is a 1.5 mile walk to the Historic Stowe Village so it is very conveniently located to many restaurants and hikes like Stowe Pinnacle. It is a unique experience for 2-3 people in a small cabin with a firewood hot tub, cold tub soak in a gazebo, a wood stove sauna, two fire pits, an outhouse, a screened porch and grill. Another good feature is that dogs are welcome and have room to roam and relax. Rick was very responsive and accommodating in making sure we were comfortable with everything. He provided great suggestions for dining and hikes. We had another nice stay in beautiful Stowe for a popular fall foliage weekend.

Weekend Trip to Vermont Rustic Retreat
We enjoyed our northern VT glamping experience in this cozy rustic cabin. I took advantage of the appliances and made coffee each morning and kept some local cabot cheese and salami in the fridge for snacking between adventures. The dogs loved the porch and grounds. We did have an animal having itself a time one night under the cabin which woke me up (just in case you have a noise sensitive pup) but the second night it was quiet! We enjoyed a local hike and hill farmstead brewery during our stay. Close to local ponds for paddling too if that’s your preference. I didn’t have great service (verizon) and had to go to town for some parts of the day to respond to messages/plan next travels (downloading maps etc) so be mindful of that if you’re staying here! Overall, it was a very cozy experience and I’d definitely recommend it.

The site is located on a lovely mountain brook in Huntington. The small 8' x 8' cabin includes a queen bed with a mattress protector (you provide your own linens, blankets, and pillows), a small wood stove, and a bedside table. The large windows overlook the falls, and you’ll fall asleep to the sound of the waterfalls and brook. There are drawers for storage under the bed. The site is accessed by a gravel driveway off a Class 4 road, and you can park close to the site. In winter, when there is snow on the ground, the Class 4 road isn’t plowed past the bridge, so you’ll need to walk in—about 50 yards from the parking area. Firewood is provided for the wood stove. The site is near our home (about 100 meters away through the woods) but is relatively private. It’s within a short drive or bike ride to some of the best mountain biking and hiking (Camel’s Hump, Mount Abe) and cross-country skiing (Sleepy Hollow, Camel’s Hump Nordic, Catamount Trail) in Vermont. We are 15 minutes from Richmond and Hinesburg, 20 minutes from Mad River Glen, and just a half hour from Burlington. The site does get cell reception, but the cabin has no electricity or other facilities, so all waste must be packed out. We provide a bucket commode, but please bring your own trash bags to pack out all waste.

Bring it! The Lamoille River is a few miles away and a favorite for water lovers. Don't have one, there is a great rental place down the road where you can take one out for the day. Looking for another option to the river? The Belvidere Pond is down the road and offers a peaceful place to paddle around surrounded by the mountains. MAPLE SYRUP/SUGARBUSH Want to learn about the maple sugaring process? We are always happy to give you a tour of our sugarhouse and the woods, and explain how we turn the tree sap into yummy Maple Syrup. (We only boil January-early April.) We do have this year's crop bottled and available for sale! Buy one for morning pancakes, to add to your morning coffee, or to take home! WILDLIFE/BERRIES/MUSHROOMS/FIDDLEHEADS Depending on the time of the year, you can find wild raspberries, blackberries, mushrooms, and fiddleheads. (Please do not pick or eat something if you don't know if it is poisonous!) And, wildlife are around. Look for tracks in the soil, signs they have been there, or if you are really quiet (usually in the early morning or at dusk) you might see deer, geese, or wild turkeys! As private as private gets but only 6 miles to Newport Vt. There is a creek and a one acre pond (20 feet deep). It is all mixed hard and softwoods. It has some magnificent old growth trees 100 foot tall. There is a good rd that my friend has used with his Lincoln. Most any vehicle (car or Pickup)can get to the site. It gets a little tricky if you are pulling a trailer. A small one is OK but a large one - not so much....... The rd goes 1/2 mile to the rear of the land. Moose, deer and other critters visit too. We live 1/2 mile away from where you enter the woodlot. Our house is on Brownington Pond (200+ acres) & campers can use this site for swimming, boating & fishing. We live on 75 acres of woods and hay fields. Larry is a self-taught hay-farmer since we moved from the mid-west in 2007. The property was a fallow dairy farm from the 70's. It used to be called Common View Farm. We hear the name came from the fact that we can see the Craftsbury Common from the height of the property. Legend holds that people have seen strange lights and orbs in the area. It may just be a yarn told by the locals to the new flatlanders. I have never noticed anything of the sort and I have been looking. Who doesn't like a good New England ghost story? Larry farms about 30 acres of the property; square bales for horses. The rest are woods. We have our own old mare, Ruby, which gave Larry the haying idea. She has two goat buddies, Danny-Boy and Brownie (guess what color he is?). Our dog, Tinker, runs the land and loves dog friends as well as humans. Our views are of the Lowell Mountains closest and the Green Mountains in the distance. You can see the Lowell wind farm on the horizon. We have a large garden and raspberry patch. When in season, you are free to pick! The house on the property, Larry built. It's a beauty. He also has two shops and some barns. No shortage of farm implements. You are welcome to walk to your heart's content and to visit Ruby and the boys. Learn more about this land: The Northwoods Gypsy Wagon is a 3-minute walk into the woods from the parking area.  You can have all the solitude you'd like or visit the nearby towns.  In this off-grid wagon, you will have an indoor cooking stove (2 burner propane) and a propane stove for the cooler nights but no running water, therefore no indoor plumbing.  Fresh water, battery operated lights, solar panel which provides one lamp and a place to plug in your phone, coffee/tea set ups. Wi-Fi/cell cov is not available.  There is a privy exclusively for the wagon and a place for a cold-water wash up.  This is truly tiny space, however; sleeps 2 adults.
