This cabin was made for people who wander and pay attention. For the ones who move through the world with curiosity, whether on two wheels, in muddy boots, or with a sketchbook in hand. It was built for trail riders and daydreamers, tired legs and open minds. For those who hike for the view and linger for the stillness. Who chase light, collect stories, and know the quiet magic of a good cup of coffee, a clean bed, and the sound of a brook at night. If that sounds like you, welcome. Foote Brook Cabin is a soft place to land. Tucked in the woods, 3 miles outside the village of Johnson, this off-grid hideaway invites you to unplug without roughing it. There is no WiFi, no plumbing, and no buzzing appliances. Instead, you get a full-sized memory foam bed with fresh linens, solar and battery lights, a Jackery power bank to charge your phone, firewood, and a little kitchen setup with everything you need to cook a meal. There’s clean drinking water, real dishes, a Coleman stove, and a composting outhouse that is tidy, private, and surprisingly pleasant. You can walk in, pedal in, or drive in. If you are biking the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, I can meet you in town and bring you and your gear up to the cabin. Pets are welcome as long as they are well behaved and come with a human who will clean up after them. Johnson is just a short stroll from the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail trailhead and has everything you didn’t know you needed. A coffee shop and a tea house for whatever kind of caffeine emergency you are having. A grocery store that carries a little bit of everything. Chinese takeout. A laundromat. A sit-down spot for a warm meal. Johnson Woolen Mills and Vermont Flannel for souvenirs that feel like hugs. Butternut Mountain Farm Store for some tasty VT treats. There are also 2 covered bridges, local art, maple syrup, friendly neighbors, half dozen swimming holes, and a surprising number of Little Free Libraries for a town this size. This is not just a place to sleep. It is a chance to reset, breathe deep, and remember why you came to Vermont in the first place.

Maple Rock Hollow Maple Rock Hollow is the perfect get away location, set on 30 acres at the base of Laraway Mountain in Belvidere, Vermont; conveniently located on a dirt road off of route 109. We have a dirt driveway and while the parking area terrain is mostly flat, it may be a little unsteady for folks with gait issues. Both our road and driveway may become quite muddy especially during “mud season”, generally in the spring. Nestled at the bottom of Laraway Mountain, Maple Rock Hollow provides a tranquil place to stay while providing easy access to a myriad of outdoor activities. Enjoy Vermont’s world-class skiing; Smuggler’s Notch (20 minutes), Jay Peak (30 minutes) and Stowe (40 minutes) are all nearby! The property is just a short ride to the Vermont Long Trail and the Lamoille County Rail trail. It is surrounded by opportunities for skiing, other winter activities, hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, numerous watering holes, zip lining, leaf peeping in season, exploring Vermont’s many covered bridges, access to nearby VAST and VASA trails, and more! Unwind from your day of adventure by enjoying the wooded setting by making smores at the fire pit under the starry sky and relax surrounded by nature, while sipping your drink of choice; perhaps a beer from one of the many local breweries Please be aware that given our rural location, our cell phone coverage is weak. Six miles west there is more reliable cell phone access. Future plans include reliable internet access. We strongly recommend you download a map of Vermont prior to your stay to ensure that you are able to find your way. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you would like additional information, recommendations, directions, etc. If you plan to use the fire pit during your stay, make sure to pick up some firewood when you stop for groceries at one of the area markets. We provide one bundle per reservation. Other things to note: Our property is SMOKE FREE - no smoking is permitted anywhere on the property. This includes Marijuana, vaping and edibles. Illegal drug use is prohibited at all times. Currently, we cannot accommodate pets. Thank you for your understanding. Hosting parties or events is not permitted at any time. Our property is home to a variety of wild animals, including, but not limited to deer, turkey, fox, coyote and bear. Please do not approach any wild animals on the property or attempt to feed them. 18. Foote Brook Cabin

26mi from Cabot · 1 site · Lodging · Johnson, VT

After driving the shoreline road of Lake Willoughby, the road to access the land is a steady climb to ..... feet. Stop and look behind you and you'll see the Western view of successive mountain ridges and Lake Willoughby. The immediate land and surround has been in the Cole family for generations and we are honored to be the next stewards of this parcel. We look forward to sharing the beauty of this area and this space with you. Learn more about this land: The cabin is located 3 miles and 1,700 feet up from Lake Willoughby in the Town of Westmore. We invite you to stay!  Looking behind as you drive up Coles Mountain to the land, you see views of Lake Willoughby and rolling mountains heading out to the horizon in the west.  Majestic.   Once you have traveled 3 miles and gone up 1,700 feet from Lake Willoughby, you cross a land bridge over a stream and enter a private clearing ringed with tress and forest.  This is an old orchard in the forest with an off-grid cabin.  Cozy surroundings.  Though you may hear others on surrounding properties, you don't see them.   Cross another stream and the land goes back another 10 acres into deep forest.  Magical. Outdoor activities throughout the area include hiking, skiing and mountain biking at Burke Mountain, Kingdom Trails Association, Craftsbury Outdoor Center and local Vermont State Parks, as well as kayaking, swimming, and fishing on Lake Willoughby.  Watch the sunset at Sentinel Rock.
