Tired of the city ordinances that restricted raising fouls, I decided to look for an acreage that is not too far nor too close to the city and which allowed the raising of farm animals. As of this writing, we have 2 beautiful heifers, 18 sheep, and colorful giant kois in the pond that once in a while can be seen when they swim near the surface. We built a log cabin in the 17-acre property in preparation for downsizing when the boys go to to college. But when our neighbors had to move back to England, they sold us their house and 11-acre land. With the cabin on the 17-acre now vacant, we decided to open it for camping (on the land) or renting out the log cabin after building the 2-acre pond. Learn more about this land: Stay in the log cabin, or pitch a tent. Enjoy stargazing, or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the property.  Pick wild grapes  or wild blackberries (when in season) or spring wildflowers. Kayak or canoe in the pond.  Bring your fishing gear and bait. Cabin use is free, but these are STRICT RULES. 1. No pets please, not even emotional support animals of any kind due to allergy in the family (we use the cabin when not booked). 2. No smoking inside the cabin 3. Do not use the bathroom towels for kitchen purposes or to wipe off dirt 4. Please no outdoor footwear indoors, but you are welcome to wear clean indoor footwear. Violation will result in forfeiture of the entire deposit 5.  Cars MUST be parked on the rocked section, thus walking is necessary from this point.  This is a 2-3 minute walk. The driveway might be dry but, no vehicles will be allowed past the rocked section due to unpredictability of weather. If it rains, vehicles will get stuck in the pasture. 6. Never leave food - solid or liquid - where ants can find them or you will cause them to infest the house including your bed! They can do so faster than you can imagine. 7. Please do not bring more people than officially booked, or we will cancel the reservation. No refund. We also close the gate once you have checked in to prevent the animals from escaping. 8. The moisture content can cause shrinkage or expansion of the ground, which can lead to leveling issues to the cabin. So please be aware that doors may or may not open or close smoothly.

The property borders a small creek and has abundant trees, and wildlife. Beautiful views from every vantage with a high field on one half of the property and a low bottom land near the creek where there are many options for a relaxing, private stay. Chose big sky or a more secluded spot. Incredible wildflowers on display in the spring. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. Low ambient light pollution at night means the stars are very bright (and so are the fireflies)! Guests are required to communicate estimated time of arrival well in advance. When arriving, make sure to meet Aaron or a designate at the red gate before entering further into the property. If tent camping, please do not bring glass containers, also you must pack out all garbage and waste. Are you looking for a unique place to spice up your trip? Have you ever slept in a bubble? Well, come try it out at Bespoke Outdoor Bubbles! This is truly a once in a lifetime find. When you stay in one of our inflatable bubbles on the farm with an enormous pool, not only do you get to experience something new and exciting, you also have access to so many fun things to do! The coolest part? The top is transparent, so you can fall asleep wishing on a star. This inflatable bubble is anchored to a sturdy wooden deck and inflated with an air blower. There is a retractable awning that covers each bubble reducing the green-house effect during the daytime and can be opened to reveal the beautiful skyline during the day or the wonderous starlit sky at night. Inside you’ll find a cozy king bed that can comfortably sleep up to three guests (2 adults and 1 child). There is air conditioning and heating inside as well as a full private bathroom. The bathroom even has a clawfoot tub! Toiletries are provided for you during your stay. The bubble is located in Sam Houston National Forest on a beautiful ranchette of almost 8 acres. On the ranchette you’ll be able to see chickens, turkeys (seasonal), goats, pigs, rabbits, and a garden near the home as well as livestock grazing in the pastures. Wildlife is present in the forest, so there are some food restrictions inside the bubble to keep you safe. (See “rules to keep in mind”) A pathway that is clear during the day and perfectly lit for your convenience at night takes you directly to a fully equipped outdoor kitchen. There, you will have access to a BBQ pit, an outdoor pavilion, pool, hot tub, and pool house. If you’d like to have some fun, games like corn hole, oversized connect-four, water volleyball, and horseshoes for you to enjoy. If you’d like to relax, kick back in a hammock and take a nap in the fresh breeze. The fire pit is open to all guests! Feel free to make s’mores, hot dogs, burgers, or whatever you’d like! Within 30-45 min of college station, this was the perfect weekend getaway! Site 22 was spacious and had good hammocking trees! It was very close to the restroom with was a great bonus. We spent the day in the little boats on the lake, and hiking the beautiful trails. Julie was very helpful and kind and brought us firewood along with a visit from the cutest dog! Lots of room to park our cars, the trees blocked the wind very nicely. You can’t go wrong with any site at 5D Ranch!! Already planning another trip sometime soon!

This is a fantastic campground. I was there for two nights. Took a 14-mile loop hike on Day 1 and a 13-mile loop hike on Day 2. On both days, hit the trail literally steps from my campsite. Looped to the West one day and to the East the next, and the Circle C campground is located smack in the middle. Could not have been better situated. The campground is well-maintained, spacious, with nice facilities (one-stall public restroom, one-stall outdoor shower with hot water, covered pavilion with tables, sink and cooking/grilling equipment). I car-camped and could not have asked for a better spot. I will be back and recommend it highly.

Quietness has a new definition at 5D Ranch! Miles of forest-filled trails with serine camping possibilities everywhere! Julie’s deer is so tame it’s like a family pet. Weather doesn’t matter nearly as much as at other campsites, due to the more firmly-packed sandy access roads. It rates 5-Stars!

1 night at Circle C CampGrounds

Our trip to this camp was not planned, but we are glad we found it. This ended up being our first stop on day/night 1 of the Lone Star Hiking Trail. This was part of my son's scouting work in Trail Life USA. We came up on the back gate well after dark and quickly though it would be a great place to stay. The owner answered the phone and after few instructions we were all setup. We took advantage camp site 1. Having running water, a shower and restroom was a surprise on the trail. Host was great, good communication. Good choices of open or secluded camp sites. This is now one of our top choices for our annual winter group campout. Note that some camp sites can be a long walk (or short drive) from the restrooms. Bring your own tables as not all sites have tables.

Terry was an amazing host. He let us check in a bit early when got there sooner than we thought. The restroom was super clean. The Pavillion with picnic tables gave us a spot to play cards. Terry brought us firewood which came in handy since it got down to 23 last night. Plenty of trees for hammocks at spot 6 and 7. He has 3 disc golf baskets and a couple of ponds where you can feed the fish (No fishing allowed).

This place was truly a getaway. Terry was an incredible host and has a slice of heaven at Circle C. I stayed at campsite 1. The bathroom was impeccably clean and outdoor shower was ideal to feel like a human after just enough heat in January in Texas to break a sweat and still also want to build a fire at night. I ventured through some of the trails in the neighboring Sam Houston Natural Forest, which has two entrances right next to the campsites. The peace and quiet was the palate cleanse from the city I needed. I went during the week and essentially had the whole place to myself. My favorite part of my trip was just sitting next to the fire, listening to the coyotes, crickets, and leaves fluttering as the night breeze rolled through. It does get pretty dark out there at night. As a solo female camper I felt perfectly safe and had some lanterns as well as lights around the pavilion to guide me. Terry was a gem and so kind and helpful. He was a pleasure to chat with and made the experience even more enjoyable. I knew some rain was rolling through the last day or two of my trip, but I underestimated how much rain and overestimated my tent’s waterproofing so left a little early. Still well worth the short drive from the city. If you’re like me, you’ll be happy to know that there is little to no WiFi out there. With serenity and peace in nature like that, I can tell you that I had no desire to look at a screen.

This place is well maintained and very lovely. Evenly spaced out from other campers. Tons of sticks to collect for a good fire, sorry if we cleared all of them out 🤣. The pirate ship is a good touch. Would highly recommend spending a few days here. We camped peacefully full of laughter and joy at the "zen den" only recommendation would be to put a strand of lights on the string for the front of the tent, at night it was hard to see it and would hate for anything to happen to a person or even the owners property. Other than that its a very warming and lovely place. Btw listen for the donkey and geese I had a good conversation with them. Thank you for an excellent stay and we are looking forward to doing it again one day!!
