Weekend Trip to Decker Church

Super quiet and 20-30 minutes from downtown depending upon traffic. As a solo female traveler, I felt super safe here. Security cameras and a business next door. Spent a lot of time here during my month in Austin and would definitely book again!

We didn’t camp overnight - we were just using the space for a few hours to set up and test our trailer that had been in storage for a while. But the space was easy to find and the hookups were convenient, and the area is quiet and felt safe. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to campers. The host was accommodating of our slightly unusual situation and was very responsive to all of our questions. Great experience all around.

Gunter was very attentive and made us feel at home. He let us use his cozy, nicely decorated kitchen so that we could cook and dine inside. Also, the provided portable restroom was clean and useful during our stay.

Our stay was very quiet and casual. We felt safe and we were close to all of things we wanted to do in Austin. Nice host, great communication. 30 amp and 50 amp outlets are literally on the back side of the Church.

This was a quiet spot, the whole cemetery next to the spot at first i thought was gonna be way too creepy fornme (im a scaredy cat). But i surprised myself and did rather well. Peaceful and privatr. Thr bleed theough during their service was there but it wasnt distrubing or anything. Actually kindabnice to hear the choir and singer.

McDonald Farm sits in the historic farming community of Jonah, TX between Georgetown and Taylor on scenic Highway 29. McDonald Farm is named after the patriarch of the family, J.H. Mcdonald, who first acquired the property in 1911. The farm sits on the bank of the San Gabriel River and features a lush canopy of huge pecan trees, sprawling corn fields, prairie, and forest. We are a working farm! We primarily grow corn, but we also have livestock on the property. During daytime hours, you will likely see a variety of farm chores being completed. We are only 7 miles from the Georgetown, TX historical district and square. Some say it’s the most beautiful town square in all of Texas. Enjoy shopping, dining, and festivals! We are 13 miles from Granger Lake, which offers boating and bass fishing opportunities. Highway 29 and the many quaint and scenic country roads that intersect it is popular with cyclists wanting to go for longer rides and enjoy the sights of central Texas and the many historical farms in the area. There is excellent bird-watching and wildlife-viewing opportunities on the property. We frequently see white-tailed deer, as well as other wildlife and many species of birds. There is road noise. Highway 29 can be busy at times, despite being a two-lane road. We also have neighbors, so we request quiet hours after 10 pm Sunday - Thursday and midnight Friday and Saturday. There are wildflowers all over the property; especially in the spring time. We have seen deer grazing on the property and some travelers have found fossils and arrowheads (no guarantees of course).
