Pitch your tent or boondock your RV on the Paluxy River under giant pecan trees. Enjoy the scenic view of our beautiful river. Our private property is located near the historic square of glen rose but feels like you are miles away in the country. Have fun kayaking, swimming, fishing, or just sit back and enjoy the views. We have 5 different spacious sites to choose from. Most have a tree break area in-between for privacy. Or rent all 5 and have the entire property to yourself.
Updated river photos will be posted on our Facebook page, or message me for updates. Unfortunately, I'm not able to control the river. It goes up and down depending on rain and temperatures. The river gets pretty low during July and August. Wheeler Branch Reservoir(only a few miles from camp) is a great spot to swim and fish when the river water levels are lower. Very small lake that is good for swimming and kayaking with a dock, clear waters.
We have 5 different sites. All of them overlook the Paluxy River, have rock fire pits, seating areas, patios, and stairs down to riverbed. You will have access to one of the most beautiful parts of the Paluxy River.
In order to reserve a spot you must be 21 or over. This is not extremely remote place where you can party and go crazy. We want everyone to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the views.
Site Big Pecan: This is the farthest site upriver and has one of the largest pecan trees I've ever seen. The trees provide great shade cover during the summer. This site has an awesome rock patio seating area with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs overlooking the river with stairs to provide easy access down into the water. It also has a rock firepit with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs on a rock patio. Also includes a kids sand box, and a picnic table with shade umbrella, and numerous extras available to rent.
Site 1 Limestone ledge: Firepit seating area overlooking the river with 4 Adirondack chairs and a shade umbrella, separate rock patio closer to the water overlooking the river with 2 wooden rocking chairs, stairs down to riverbed, huge pecan trees, kids play set with sand box, 1 picnic table, shade umbrella, and a 10' x 10' raised tent deck platform overlooking the river.
Site 2: Firepit seating area overlooking limestone riverbed with 3 Adirondack chairs, picnic table with a shade umbrella, 10' x 10' raised tent / deck platform, stairs down to riverbed and shallow area of the river for kids to play. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy.
Site 3: Firepit seating area overlooking the riverbed, 2 wooden Adirondack chairs, 2 picnic tables, 1 shade umbrella, 2 sets of rock stairs to the riverbed, shallow area of the river for kids to play. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy.
Site 4 Farthest site downstream. Nice rock patio overlooking the river with two wooden rocking chairs. Easy access for RVs and trailers. Rock stairs to the river for easy access. Fire pit with rock patio around it with 4 wooden Adirondack chairs. Picnic table with shade umbrella. Kids sand box. Shallow areas for kids to play in the river. Deeper fishing hole about 100 feet down river. Great area to sit in the river with a lawn chair. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy.
A lot of people buy two sites for more privacy and room for larger groups. For example, many purchase Big Pecan and site 1 together. Or sites 2 and 3.
kayaks, wood, outdoor games, frisbee golf baskets and disc, grill and utensils, propane firepit, and other extras available for rent. Please select those during checkout
Tips:
Bring river shoes, nose plugs, swimming essentials. Parts of the river can be very slippery. Bring life jackets, especially for children.
Bring the essentials for any camping trip including: sunscreen, bug spray, anti-itch meds, etc. Chairs and sunshades to sit in the river are always popular.
The Paluxy river ranges from just a few inches deep to 5 feet deep in our camping area. There are more swimming holes a little deeper up and downstream.
Water is available at the entrance.
No restroom - pack in, pack out. Bring your own potty and water. If you are not familiar with dry camping do some research. There are all types of methods for restrooms, heating, cooling, etc. available now to make it enjoyable.
Dogs are allowed on leash. Please do not allow your dog to roam freely if they are aggressive in nature. Clean up after them.
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel up to 3 days before your stay for a full refund. Weekends during peak seasons (March - June & September - November) are non-refundable unless canceled and another camper reserves the site. I do offer partial refunds for extreme weather conditions.

The access to the lake is less than a 1/2 mile down the road, boat ramp.
Fishing, swimming, exploring. You can fish the small pond on the property. Explore the property, In the evening if you’re quiet and from a distance you can probably watch the deer come to the feeders. Bring your mountain bikes, ride the county road. Star gazing at night.
There are some targets around the place if you like target shooting. You will need your own guns and ammunition. This activity is at your own risk.
Neighboring town, Malone is about 8 miles away. It's quite small but does have a convenience store, with ice, drinks, food, and worms for fishing. There is also a small-town bar with music and food.
Hubbard is a nice little town about 15 miles away. It features small cafes, antique shopping, gas and a Sonic.
The town of West is much larger and about 30 miles away. West features Czech Bakeries, & old town square shopping.
Don’t forget mosquito spray, bedding, and drinking water. There is plenty of dead wood for fire, but you may want something to cut it into smaller pieces. Please don’t go too big or crazy with fire. Conditions can be very dry. Keep the wood burning fireplace in the tent to small fires please.
Tents can fit 2 adults comfortably; bring your kids and sleep on floor or bring your own tent to set up for them. children are free no extra charge.

Sundancer On The Brazos sits on Comanche Creek in an isolated forest
on a 350 acre working cattle ranch with a quarter mile of river frontage!
The Comanche were quite active up and down this part of the Brazos when the earliest settlers arrived around 1850, until the Comanches' eventual conquest by the Texas Rangers and their Colt pistols around 1870; we have found lots of flint and some arrowheads on high places here. Our private property is located near the historic square of glen rose but feels like you are miles away in the country. Have fun kayaking, swimming, fishing, or just sit back and enjoy the views. Updated river photos will be posted on our Facebook page, or message me for updates. Unfortunately, I'm not able to control the river. It goes up and down depending on rain and temperatures. The river gets pretty low during July and August. Wheeler Branch Reservoir(only a few miles from camp) is a great spot to swim and fish when the river water levels are lower. Very small lake that is good for swimming and kayaking with a dock, clear waters.
We have 5 different sites. All of them overlook the Paluxy River, have rock fire pits, seating areas, patios, and stairs down to riverbed. You will have access to one of the most beautiful parts of the Paluxy River.
In order to reserve a spot you must be 21 or over. This is not extremely remote place where you can party and go crazy. We want everyone to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the views.
Site Big Pecan: This is the farthest site upriver and has one of the largest pecan trees I've ever seen. The trees provide great shade cover during the summer. This site has an awesome rock patio seating area with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs overlooking the river with stairs to provide easy access down into the water. It also has a rock firepit with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs on a rock patio. Also includes a kids sand box, and a picnic table with shade umbrella, and numerous extras available to rent.
Site 1 Limestone ledge: Firepit seating area overlooking the river with 4 Adirondack chairs and a shade umbrella, separate rock patio closer to the water overlooking the river with 2 wooden rocking chairs, stairs down to riverbed, huge pecan trees, kids play set with sand box, 1 picnic table, shade umbrella, and a 10' x 10' raised tent deck platform overlooking the river.

Deeper fishing hole about 100 feet down river. Great area to sit in the river with a lawn chair. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy.
A lot of people buy two sites for more privacy and room for larger groups. For example, many purchase Big Pecan and site 1 together. Or sites 2 and 3.

Tips:
Bring river shoes, nose plugs, swimming essentials. Parts of the river can be very slippery. Bring life jackets, especially for children.
Bring the essentials for any camping trip including: sunscreen, bug spray, anti-itch meds, etc. Chairs and sunshades to sit in the river are always popular.
The Paluxy river ranges from just a few inches deep to 5 feet deep in our camping area. There are more swimming holes a little deeper up and downstream.
Water is available at the entrance.
No restroom - pack in, pack out. Bring your own potty and water. If you are not familiar with dry camping do some research. There are all types of methods for restrooms, heating, cooling, etc. available now to make it enjoyable.
Dogs are allowed on leash. Please do not allow your dog to roam freely if they are aggressive in nature. Clean up after them.
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel up to 3 days before your stay for a full refund. Weekends during peak seasons (March - June & September - November) are non-refundable unless canceled and another camper reserves the site. I do offer partial refunds for extreme weather conditions.

Hubbard is a nice little town about 15 miles away. It features small cafes, antique shopping, gas and a Sonic.
The town of West is much larger and about 30 miles away. West features Czech Bakeries, & old town square shopping.
Don’t forget mosquito spray, bedding, and drinking water. There is plenty of dead wood for fire, but you may want something to cut it into smaller pieces. Please don’t go too big or crazy with fire. Conditions can be very dry. Keep the wood burning fireplace in the tent to small fires please.

Sundancer On The Brazos sits on Comanche Creek in an isolated forest
on a 350 acre working cattle ranch with a quarter mile of river frontage!
The Comanche were quite active up and down this part of the Brazos when the earliest settlers arrived around 1850, until the Comanches' eventual conquest by the Texas Rangers and their Colt pistols around 1870; we have found lots of flint and some arrowheads on high places here. Going further back in history, the Fuller's Folly River Ranch has an abundance of petrified wood, they say that if you have fossilized sea shells you were under water, but if you have petrified wood you had land creatures. Hunting for petrified wood is a fun adventure here. (But leave them for the next person to discover!)
Weatherford is only 10 minutes away and
Granbury is only 20 minutes away; both have great restaurants. And this close to Fort Worth (30min), you could actually commute and have a ranch to come home to at night--note the lower pricing mid week.

The entire grounds was a haven for us. My granddaughter & I came for the weekend and camped at site 4, which we loved! We hiked 1.6 miles and still didn’t get to explore all the trails. It was serene, quiet and I felt safe. We could hear cows, cocks & a train in the distance. The road to the campsites felt like you are going through a maze with the tall, bordered grass. We are so grateful that Allison has opened up her land to let us enjoy a wonderful getaway. We will be coming back for a treehouse stay in the spring, hopefully we’ll get a chance to paddleboat since it was filled with muddy water. That was what attracted me to the hideout with a little one. But our main reason for getting out to that area was to visit a state park which was full so this was the perfect & better place to stay.
The bathhouse!!! Oh, the beautiful bathhouse! Even my 7 year old was fascinated by the visual elements… now I want one just like it!

We loved, loved, loved this site and really all the sites at the facility. It was amazing being right on the river, and we look forward to having many repeat trips. We purchased firewood, and it was so nice to have everything there when we arrived. We were able to have our travel trailer on the site with lots of space. Speaking of space, the distance between the sites is grand, and you do not feel like you are on top of each other. Such a better experience than other local camp sites.
You will hear cars on the road, but that is just the nature of this site. We did not mind the car sounds, and there was not a baseball game going on at the local ball park that was close to the site, as others mentioned. Just a great time of the year to go.
Enjoy, slow down, and really get away.

Awesome little oasis! A quick weekend get away was not enough! Plus the restrooms were beautiful, clean and a great plus. We were what it seemed like away from it all but still had a cell signal. There was so much to do, trails, beautiful pond, horse shoe, geocache and more! 5/5 stars and more.

Had a wonderful last minute visit camping with my two dogs and cat. The location was easy to get to and on site directions were straightforward and accurate. Conveniently located about 30mins outside of Weatherford. Hosts were friendly and helpful. All the primitive sites were labeled and each has a picnic table and fire ring. Sites are spaced out similar to what you would see at a state park. We stayed at “the point” right on the river bank. It was beautiful and had access to the water. I saw another review about neighbors lights and dogs bark; I am going to assume they stayed in the same site as us because it’s the farthest back on Gypsy moon also making it the closest to the neighboring rv park. I did notice the lights but you could easily reposition to avoid them and the dogs barked when we first got there and were setting up but then settled. Neither bothered us nor are these things in control of the hosts. Shower and bathroom in good working condition. Lots of chickens, geese and goats out near the rvs but none wandered over to primitive camping. Didn’t go in or inquire about bait shop so nothing to review but did see firewood for sale. Overall very good value for the price and I will gladly return if I’m in the area again.

Amy's place is always a welcome reprieve from the world. Situated on a nice piece of property along the river, it is a very chill vibe. If you are tent camping, I recommend the Far Far Away site. This is my second time here, and it's apparent that continued improvements have been made. She did have to shut down the honor system store because.... well, people suck. And I hate that for Amy, because she is such a sweet lady. But I understand the decision.
If you come here, please be kind, respectful, and pick up any trash you see from previous campers.

I was welcomed by friendly goats and lil pig. Since, it was a thanksgiving day - I only saw three people in the area. Our tent was superb! Perfect spot for our camping but unfortunately we have to leave after 3 hours of stay coz my son has an anxiety attack. He just got tired from our previous camp (this is actually our second spot). I believe we need to come back here again soon and explore the area. The communication w the host was great. All the instructions were given clearly and the suggested trail to explore. We really need to come back here again soon.

This was our second time at Pecans on the Paluxy and it was just as good as the first time. Love the ease and the facilities. It's great to have the chairs and the picnic table and my kids love the sandpit. Paul is such a responsive host and always answered any questions quickly. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to our next stay!!

Had a great time at Allison’s property! We were at tent #2 it was very spacious for the both of us and our dog! The bathhouse was decorated beautiful and super clean as well. The trails and pond were nice, she even had a fun geocache game which was super fun at night! Would come here again 100%!

Trey was such a kind host! We had a fantastic fall camp with clear skies and stargazing at night and lots of active birdwatching in the morning. Definitely recommend as a place to escape DFW and be out in the country all by yourselves! The site was very private and well maintained.
