Sundancer On The Brazos sits on Comanche Creek in an isolated forest on a 350 acre working cattle ranch with a quarter mile of river frontage! The Comanche were quite active up and down this part of the Brazos when the earliest settlers arrived around 1850, until the Comanches' eventual conquest by the Texas Rangers and their Colt pistols around 1870; we have found lots of flint and some arrowheads on high places here. Going further back in history, the Fuller's Folly River Ranch has an abundance of petrified wood, they say that if you have fossilized sea shells you were under water, but if you have petrified wood you had land creatures. Hunting for petrified wood is a fun adventure here. (But leave them for the next person to discover!) Weatherford is only 10 minutes away and Granbury is only 20 minutes away; both have great restaurants. And this close to Fort Worth (30min), you could actually commute and have a ranch to come home to at night--note the lower pricing mid week.

In total the property sits on 7.3 acres nestled in the heart of a small lakeside community. This campsite is the first in our campground, so guests will have private access to the entire ridgeline & hiking trails cut through the 7.3 acers into the creek bed below. There is plenty of space for additional tents if guests would like to bring additional campers. Just let us know and I will be happy to discuss all the options. SAFTEY NOTES: The terrain is rocky and can be quite steep in places with some drop offs. Not recommended for small children or pets that are not well trained. We also share the land with lots of wildlife! Please be aware at all times and keep an eye out for snakes & spiders! You may also hear wild boars in the creek bed at night. SITE AMENITES `This site includes a 10x14, Kodiak' canvas tent that will be completely set up with the essentials including Water & Electric, bed & linens & outdoor chairs. INSIDE ` Cozy up on a queen size mattress complete with all the necessary bedding (pillows, sheets &comforter). We like to keep it super cozy but simple inside to make sure there is plenty of space for guest's personal things. BATHROOMS ` There is no access to a bathroom but a screened shelter with a camping toilet & compost bags will be provided. Guests will need to be self-contained, take waste with them and leave no trace. OUTSIDE ` A water spigot & electrical outlet are included at the campsite. A fire pit & firewood will also be provided (with the exception of any burn bans in effect) ACTIVITIES - Neighborhood Boat Ramp & access to Lake Whitney/Brazos River. Stargazing, birdwatching, & hiking the trails are a few things many of our guests enjoy the most. We also have access to a public boat ramp in the neighborhood. Guests will also have access to over 9000 aces of public hunting lands managed by the Army Corp. of Engineers. Meridian State Park & Lake Whitney State Park are each about a 30min drive. Weekend Trip to Liberty Hill Hideaway Lake Retreat

We enjoyed our getaway. Barry came out and greeted us, very nice guy and not pushy. There is a common area for anyone/everyone to hang out in. He has a crows nest on the top of his house, which he allows people to go up, beautiful view. Definitely go up there. Lots of cardinals. There might have been other birds also but those are the only ones I saw. Lots of bluebonnets a few other wild flowers. His landscape looks nice. It rained part of the time and the few parts that were dirt did Not get muddy. The lake was very close and was nice to look out at. We were very happy about that because it meant we could still go wonder around. I brought my dog, she enjoyed smelling everything. There were 2 other dogs that were possibly free roam from a neighbor, they were very nice. The male dog loved pets and tried to politely try and get treats. The RV is tiny. Lots of extra comforters and towels. It did fit us just fine, I did need a min to get used to it. 😆 Everything was in working order. Barry was very accommodating and brought us over some firewood.

We stayed the weekend for a getaway from life and work. Such a calm and relaxing location. It was nice to lay in the hammock and watch the animals walk around. We enjoyed walks around the property with small trails to walk through. One of our best moments was sitting by the lake at night to star gaze, it was such a beautiful view of all the visible stars. Our 4 legged furry daughter really enjoyed laying on the top floor balcony of the dollhouse to enjoy the entire view. We had such an amazing weekend. Thank you Amy for being such an accommodating host. We will definitely 1000% be back!

The experience was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. Amy was very accommodating and great with our children in our group. This camp has a wonderful pavilion with lots of seating and activities for the children also. We loved the animals, the quiet, and the area to walk and enjoy. We loved staying at Barry’s! We spent two nights at the Barry’s essentials campsite that included a nice tent, air mattress, picnic table, fire pit, water and electricity. We had access to a shared indoor restroom and outdoor shower. The grounds are beautiful, and there was all of the firewood we could ever want! We spent our last night at the Doris “Glamper” and it was awesome! It was cute, had a private bathroom with sink, shower and toilet, a homey kitchen with cooking essentials, fridge, stove and microwave, and a nice sized living room. The air conditioners also worked great - and we didn’t need it, but there was also an electric fireplace that would be great on a cold night. The outside spaces all over the property are so welcoming and inviting, we loved the fun chairs and hammocks around the property, the beautiful plants and trees and artistic touches all over. The game room and crow’s nest were fun bonuses! Barry is so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed! He sang us a few songs by the fire on our last night and we enjoyed talking and sharing stories. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing time, whether in the primitive camping areas, glampers to the private rooms - there’s something for everyone!

An Unforgettable Stay at the Campsite!! Our stay at the campsite was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the serene beauty of nature, crisp fresh air, and the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. The campsite was well-maintained, with clean facilities and spacious pitches that provided a great balance of privacy and community. The host Barry was so welcoming and we really had a good time near the main campfire with Barry playing the guitar….❤️❤️❤️❤️ The highlight of our stay was the breathtaking scenery—towering trees, a peaceful lake nearby, and stunning sunsets that painted the sky in vibrant colors. Evenings by the campfires are magical. ⛺️ 🔥 Overall, it was an incredible experience, and we left feeling refreshed and connected to nature. We can’t wait to return for another adventure!

1 night at Myers Corner on the Brazos River

Stayed at one of the lovely lodging locations by the Brazos river! Good water pressure and hot water. Fridge, AC/heat, hotplate, TV, indoor flush toilet, indoor shower, comfortable bed. Coffee maker present but did not use. Location is managed but owner is nearby. Both people were very accommodating and communication was very good. Price was comparable to motels, but privacy surpassed all!! We were returning from an east-west coast car-camping/nomad road trip. We planned to stay with a friend but they got sick and we needed to find last minute alternative lodging before leaving Texas. We were ahead of the storms coming from the west and south (March 11-16 2025). This site was not only available last minute for us but allowed a one night stay. We booked a few hours away and drove to this lovely location. I only wish I could have booked longer but definitely will save this as a favorite location to return. <3 Word to the wise for all: ALWAYS contact HipCamp hosts prior to booking even if it is an Instant Book. Just like with the other types of “hosted stays” AirBnB, Vrbo, HarvestHosts —Technology is cool but can be flawed. I have stayed at two HipCamps and plan to host my own. Both times the app fell short on some info, but not enough to spoil the experience. Just communicate with the hosts and all will work out!

It was the perfect get-a-way! We drove from Dallas Tx so the drive was only 1 hour 30 mins. We camped for two nights to simply get an out doors experience for the weekend. We loved exploring the property and common areas. The place is super eclectic and will be on my list to go again.

Located at the end of the road. There is over 20 acres. Some cleared and some still in original woods. Trees, grass and deer everywhere. There is over a quarter mile of Brazos riverfront property although you cannot get to the river on all of it due to it being in its natural state. There is a beach at the main camp that provides easy in and out of the water. the water depth varies with the rainfall but is usually between 2-4 feet deep.
