Weekend Trip to Sandhill Farms Tent Camping

Kevin’s land was perfect. I needed to get out of the city for a night and decompress somewhere private. Coming from the PNW this gave me a taste of home. Going in the spring it was lush and green, and we had a donkey, a horse, and a herd of cattle roaming where we set up. They were incredible hosts and showed us around the property and took us out to an oil rig down the road where we were able to walk back. If you’re looking for a place to call all your own, I would recommend it.

Melanie was an amazing host from the jump. She met with us as soon as we pulled in and told us about all the amenities the campgrounds had. It was a beautiful land with a nice pond in the middle. We fished, star gazed, went on a nice walk, and made a nice fire. It was the perfect getaway for my wife and 2 children. Ages 8 & 3.

We LOVED camping with a horse, a donkey and cows…a first for us. The horse was super curious and friendly (nosy). The donkey was curious, too (as well as adorable). The cows kept their distance and the horse and donkey moved on after vetting and checking for snacks. Communication with the host was good, too. He allowed us to stay as long as we wanted. Beautiful property and a lot of fun.

Absolutely perfect! We lived it, my 2 year old nephew got to pick fresh eggs. And couldn't stop talking about the foats and pigs, and had his first ride on a pattle boat. So relaxing! Melanie is an amazing host, they really took care of us. We will defetely go back to enjoy this place again. Love it! ❤️

Beautiful and serene. Feels very private. The rundown barn is picturesque snd adds to the landscape. Saw some deer and enjoyed visiting with the donkey and paint. Directions provided were easy to follow and communication from kevin was great. Thanks again! Will definitely be back.

We have always enjoyed camping, scuba diving and travel... anything outdoors. We made a promise that If ever given the chance to share that joy with others we would and make it a great experience. We searched and searched looked at a lot of properties North of the Woodlands, to build our home. On a Saturday morning, my husband told me about a dream of 3 very tall and Magnificent Trees, soaring way up in the sky. A few days later we were walking through the forest looking at a 20 acre tract of land for sale with our realtor, I'm thinking, "oh how would we ever get this cleared, this is a lot of work" Then, up ahead was a clearing and right in the middle were 3 of the tallest, most magnificent Cedar trees. They were perfectly planted standing side by side. We both looked at each other and said," Oh this must be it". The rest is history. The Rock Pit

Learn more about this land: The Rock Pit is a 5 acre swimming hole located in Trinity County that has been there over 50 years. Long ago they had dug out an area on a hill for rock on the dirt roads, and hit and underground water table. There are no fish in the Rock Pit, as the pH is 4.5, so no fish will live in it. I recall swimming there as a small boy, and wanted to share my memories with others. Depth ranges all over, but the deep end is around 15 feet. I have 5 kayaks currently, but bring yours if you have them, along with your vests. There is fishing in Lake Livingston, my place is north of it. There is access to Lake Livingston via White Rock Creek. A public boat ramp in on Highway 94, just outside Trinity. Or you can go back towards Trinity, to highway 357 and go to a ramp closer to the big lake. Tall pine tress, a few Oaks, and maple trees surround the place. Bring your mosquito repellant, as you are in the country! The place is raw right now, but I am planning improvements such as a few A frame cabins, a showering area and so on. So many things to do!
