1 night at Hiker's Escape on 6,000 Acre Ranch

Great ranch and I look forward booking a different site. The rain made it a little sloppy at secluded#2 and the 4Wheel drive came in handy. Great sunset and seclusion, which is what I was looking for. The only caution is the exact camp site has a lot of big red ants so I had to go down further.

I loved camping out on Fritz’s land! The landscape is so beautiful and it was so peaceful out there. So many different species of birds to hear and see. The water is crystal clear and refreshing to take a dip in! Definitely planning on going back out there in the future!

The land was very beautiful and secluded. Definitely would recommend for anyone who wants a peaceful camping experience. The directions were clear and Ashley was great.

Weekend Trip to Indian Blanket Ranch - Utopia Texas

We enjoyed the peacefulness of this quaint cabin with its unique features. The fenced yard was wonderful for our dog. The private hot tub was fantastic! Be sure to bring paper towels, toilet paper, coffee, condiments, bug spray, dish soup and other essentials. We explored the trails a bit, but the tall grass caused concern for our dog and potential snakes. It’s a great location away from the craziness of the river. Enjoyed Lost Maples Cafe in Utopia, Gypsies in Leakey. Hippie Chics in Concan was our favorite! Garner State Park is beautiful and popular so get a reservation way ahead of time. Looking forward to coming back to this gem in the future. Thank you to the owners.

Heaven on earth! Everything was so wonderful about my stay. Driving in, was an amazing adventure to start the trip. I had no issues with my 2wd coupe and there are a few times you cross over a bit of water. Fritz was an amazing host! I added burgers on to my trip so I didn't have to cook at night and he went above and beyond to make sure my stay was pleasant and comfortable. Thank you so much Fritz. Staying at the big pond site was unreal! Just me and my dog there and as a single female I would like to note, we felt so safe out there. We hiked around the huge property during the day and saw some of the other camp spots that are amazing too (I'm quite partial to big pond though) great hiking, and relaxing. It rained both nights which cooled the nights off. There was no flooding issues and we stayed dry in our tent (but make sure to have a rain fly or tarps just in case!) I cannot wait to visit again. It was truly a slice of heaven for me and my pup.

Words cannot express how incredible this place is. Shaded campsite with large coverage, places to sit, shade, furnished grills, great fire pits for both hanging and cooking, hammocks, swings, swim pool for the kids with a rock slide, this place is amazing! Oh and did I forget to mention zebras & oryx!?! It can’t get better than this beautiful place. Definitely pay for all of the extras like Wilson’s tour & don’t miss the sunset on 2 bar hill. Enjoy it!! Our whole family did! See you every year for more memories!!

I loved camping here it was so secluded and private the closest campers were about a 1/2 mile away plus we had some Cow visitors!! I really loved camping here although some things to note We lost 2 tires on an F-150 truck in our 2 day stay here so I would definitely be careful with what vehicle you bring Lastly the lakes were not quite what I expected but that wasn’t a problem because there are multiple access points to the Nueces river close by !

This Hill Country camping at its best! This site is beautiful and very private! We had a great time paddleboarding on the river! We saw lots of wildlife and fell asleep to the sound of the water under the stars! The directions to the site are a bit complex but the instructions sent by our host were very clear and accurate. The site was clean and eat to use with a stone fire pit. The nearby town of Camp Wood had a good restaurant called Canyon BBQ and grill. And further along in Leakey we found a few cute Antique shops and a coffee shop.

Another Hipcamp location I want to gatekeep! But, I guess I'll share the love....This place is awesome! An untouched, beautiful family ranch in the middle of the Texas Hill Country. We had such a good time! So much to do and see.

Beautiful property! The host was wonderful and very responsive to messages. The campsite was nice and secluded. We had privacy for most of the time we were in camp. The 4 wheel drive trails were exactly what we were looking for. Perfect for someone new to off-roading. Just technical enough, but nothing extreme. We would definitely go back! Highly recommend!

“Fritz’s land is such a wonderful experience. Just the drive to the cabin gave us a surreal overlanding feel with fun river crossings—perfect even for beginners. The kids loved every bit of the trip. While we chose the cabin for access to hot water and power, we all ended up tent camping and had an awesome time. The land, the people, and the animals were all amazing. We can’t wait to visit again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable getaway.

Excellent camping! Everything we were hoping for and then some. Privacy, serene views/scenery, off the grid, and pristine water. Fritz was a great host and we will be back!

Everything was great, I stayed at site 1, on one of the lakes. Beautiful, saw some turkeys, quiet, and big open skies at night. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks, Ashley, great host by the way.

This ranch is beautiful! Fritz was very hospitable the whole stay. He went out of his way to be sure we were good during some weather. The spots were both stunning and very private. We stayed with 2 young children and they had a blast. We definitely reccomend staying here!

We had a great time camping at Fritz’s ranch! The Ridge is an awesome site. It’s perfect for sunrise, sunsets and stargazing. It was a nice flat area with a large fire ring and two perfect trees for hanging the hammock. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking for beauty and seclusion. 10/10 would recommend.

We had a full group out this weekend and this spot did not disappoint! The views throughout the property were amazing and the drive in was a site to behold. Fritz and Ken were extremely hospitable and welcoming. The property is beautiful. Looking forward to taking my wife out later this year.

1100 acres of gorgeous natural land at the headwaters of the Medina River. Crystal clear and clean spring feed water. Fourth-generation family owners. Remote camping. Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet. About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. Our campsites are on the head waters of the West prong of the Frio River. Our Grapevine Springs have continuous flow the year round. You will enjoy the gurgling creek, hiking, swimming, solitude and our sunrises and sunsets, and big and bright stars in the night sky. We have tall hills and hardwood trees, Spanish oaks, Escarpment Cherry, Black walnut, live oaks and other oaks. We have wild animals; white tail deer, turkey, hogs and exotics and seasonally songbirds and butterflies on the ranch.
