This cedar cabin was built in the late 1950's and was the first building in Birch Creek Subdivision and was used as the real estate office when selling land for Subdivision. Joy Moore bought this fixer-upper in 1986 when the oilfield went under, at a youngster in her early twenties and has owned ever since. Lake Somerville is known for the best fishing lake in Texas. Deer run plentiful on the property and will come up close and personal when fed corn. So, stop and pick up a sack or two of deer corn before arrival. The closest city is about a 20 minute drive to Somerville so make sure to have everything you need before camping.

Group trip
Super cute little fishing cabin that was stocked with everything we needed for a small thanksgiving celebration with our adult kids and pets. We enjoyed fishing at the lake just around the corner. Our only drawback was the burn ban that prohibited s'mores over the fire pit each night, but we can only blame the Texas weather for that. We had a great stay and would come back again. Thank you Joy!

Great spot for family camping. The property is easy to access (we have a fwd minivan) and there are plenty of places to set up a tent. There is a nice field in the front and trees to the rear of the property. There are plenty of stores within a 15 minute drive in case you forgot any supplies. Kristie was very accommodating and answered all of my questions before the trip. Highly recommend you check this spot out! We are definitely coming back!

Cleared area in the front is great for tent camping and there are a few good spots further into the property to set up a tent or hammock. Just be warned, if you plan on driving further into the property, make sure you are in a large truck, otherwise walk back to find a spot to camp. I would highly recommend this site for any kind of camping!
