Learn more about this land: I recently acquired this property that has been in my family for over 100 years and my original home place until around 1980. My wife and I initially made this site for our own RV use, but we want to share it for others to enjoy and also to help finance our constant improvements. The original house that I grew up in is still located on the property but is currently uninhabitable (for now). My fondest memories of the property are of playing and catching crawdads in the creek that located on the property when I was a kid and riding horses and flying kites in the fields. I am working hard to restore this property to the way I remember it and trying to make it enjoyable for those that come to visit. A majority of the property is still being used as a hay field during the summer months and two to three times a year the hay is usually harvested.

Off the grid, out of the way, rustic 10 acres where you can pitch a tent, take a hike and enjoy a campfire.  Mostly wooded with nearby sites to explore, a few swings for fun (swings have recently been removed due to trees falling) and a fantastically cold SEASONAL mountain creek for cooling off.  Always improving our place, we recently removed the 'cabins', which had become unsuitable for use.  The property is part of a community, which you may notice on the way to the campsite.  Site 1 (The Swings) will be first left after you turn into the driveway.  It is a U shaped drive, at the bottom of the U, park and walk 15 feet to site.  Site 2  (Main Container) is at the end of main driveway, next to container.  Drive to end of driveway, park and walk 10 feet to camp.  Both are equidistant to the outhouse.  There is a trail (tagged with red) that goes all the way around the property, a top half and a bottom half that will take you by the creek. Please look through all of the listing information.  The SEASONAL creek at the bottom of the slope is wonderful and there is a spot for two adults to sit down into the crisp water and plenty of room for lots of feet. If you follow the path in the middle of the property, a 30 minute walk (therefore not on our property) will take you to a beautiful swimming hole. It's cold! There is no power or running water at the property so it's an ideal place to get away from daily life and truly relax. We hope you will enjoy it as much as our family does! Please note that even though some pictures show buildings, there are no longer cabins/shelter on The Land. We are unable to remove pictures Hipcampers post. It is raw 10 acres so, yes there are ticks. Cover up and spray as you see fit, just be aware. Also, since it is 10 acres of trees, there is plenty of firewood. We don't leave any bundles, just find down limbs and presto, firewood. DO NOT USE THE MAP LISTED OR GOOGLE MAPS; it will take you straight through water. We send detailed directions to you once the day before your booking. Please plan to travel in with daylight, it is incredibly difficult to navigate to our space in the dark. We are conveniently located close to East Ridge, Ringgold, and Fort Oglethorpe, with downtown Chattanooga only 25 minutes away. NOTE: Driveway access is paved and curving on an incline. Camp Chet was founded with the purpose to help people encounter God through outdoor experiences. It over 900 acres of private forested land on Whitwell Mountain, which is part of the Cumberland Plateau in Southeast Tennessee. Take a hike on miles of trails comprised of forest paths, old wagon roads, or coal mining roads. If you find a chunk of coal on the ground feel free to take it home with you as a souvenir. Julie is a wonderful host, providing excellent communication and a beautiful piece of property. Full hook ups that work without issue under a canopy of big oak trees amidst the sprawling countryside of Cleveland Tennessee. We had to cancel our recent trip, but have been here multiple times. It is peaceful and relaxing with Julie and her husband providing the right amount of inquiry/privacy. It would be a shame for anyone to miss out on this lovely hipcamp.

This site is a slice of heaven with the beautiful pastures, huge trees and quiet country setting! We took our reactive dogs, but the cows kept their distance so we didn’t have any issues! There was also enough service to FaceTime in for a family party we were missing! Julie was accommodating letting us hook up to their shed as a back up source of power. Highly recommend staying here!!

I love how we can just pull into our spot with hookup being easy. Most places you have to back into them. This was easy peasy and a friendly place. Great location, super convenient to all the major sites in Chattanooga. The gem panning right next to the campground was a huge hit for the kids. The staff were super welcoming and friendly. The setting is very well done. Very large hill-side sites, all gravel and leveled. My dog enjoyed his walks. 2 detractions, but I'm my opinion not deal breakers. Close to highway and the trains that run in the Valley. We arrived around 2:30 pm and heard 4 trains 🚃 🚃 until about 5:30pm - 6 pm. HWY traffic noise was as expected. But by 7 pm, highway noise had subsided and no more trains. Closing the windows also cut traffic noise. Slept great. It's a lovely well groomed site and definitely worth a visit.

Nice clean gravel sites with fire pit and picnic table seating. There's also a little enclosed dog park, which was great for us and our pups. Staff are friendly and helpful. You're within walking distance to the Crystal Palace (or Raccoon Mountain Caverns) and I would 100% recommend doing a tour.

I had a quiet few nights at raccoon mountain, went on a lovely tour of the caverns (fantastic guide for a solo tour on a slow Monday) and took advantage of the bark park for my pups. It was very cold when I was there and they did have a pipe bursting incident. But we're very communicative and everything was back up and running quickly. All of the staff were super helpful and accommodating, even when I forgot my sweater after checkout in one of the bathrooms and they kept it safe for me while I returned for it. Would definitely return!

Valley View was quiet, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful. The view is spectacular and truly lives up to the name. The sites are new, very level, and extremely spacious, giving plenty of room to relax and spread out. The gravel pads are really nice, and there’s lots of grass around, which was perfect for our dogs. A wonderful place to unwind—we would definitely stay here again.
