Welcome to Firefly Acres Escape to Firefly Acres, where 93 acres of rolling countryside offer breathtaking valley views and the beauty of the Enchanted Mountains by day, followed by incredible star-filled skies at night. If you’re lucky—and patient—you might even catch a few shooting stars lighting up the sky. Our land is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, raccoons, fox, owls, hawks, hummingbirds, bald eagles, and more. In the summer months, fireflies put on a magical display, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. With well-maintained hiking trails that are also great for mountain biking, there’s plenty to explore for both adventure seekers and those simply looking to wander and unwind. Firefly Acres is the perfect place to disconnect and immerse yourself in nature, while still being conveniently close to restaurants and downtown Olean when needed. Spend your evenings cooking over our rustic fire pits or simply relaxing by the fire, enjoying the warmth and peaceful sounds of the outdoors. It’s a safe, open space for kids to run and families to reconnect, surrounded by the simple beauty of Mother Nature. * Showers are seasonal, with the last day of use on October 15th. You’re welcome to bring your own portable shower and use the shower house for privacy. * The shower system requires access to a cigarette lighter port (vehicle or portable battery) to power the pump. * The property is solar-powered with no electrical hookups, so we recommend bringing flashlights and backup battery packs for charging devices. On low-sun days, solar lighting may be limited. * During rainy or muddy conditions, and in winter, access to the hilltop sites may require 4WD, and even then, it is not guaranteed—especially in early spring. Please plan accordingly. Additional Policies: * Pets are welcome—please clean up after them. * No firearms or explosive devices of any kind are permitted on the property. Whether you’re here for adventure, relaxation, or a little bit of both, Firefly Acres offers a peaceful, scenic escape where you can truly unwind and enjoy the outdoors.

Just outside the quaint town of Austin sits a vivid reminder of one of Pennsylvania's worst disasters – the Austin Flood. In 1909, the dam was constructed on Freeman Run to power the Bayless Papermill downstream. Many wondered if the dam was safe. On September 30, 1911, Austin found out. Poor construction, coupled with torrential rain, resulted in the dam's collapse. Nearly 400 million gallons of water were released, destroying everything for 8 miles. At least 78 people perished in the tragedy. It was the second worst flood disaster in Pennsylvania's history and sixth worst dam failure in U.S. history. The tragedy sparked new legislation to improve dam safety, and the Austin Dam was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The ruins of the dam still stand, surrounded by a 76-acre park, as a tribute to the lives lost in the Austin Flood. Don't miss one of Potter County's best kept secrets!

Once owned by a group of gentlemen who liked to come down to this rustic hunting camp and escape the hustle and bustle of the city....(and their wives..lol) Through the years they brought their families and friends. Eric purchased the property from his father and has since cleared the land and added several outbuildings. He put in two ponds, a suana, a stage, barn and many other amenities. He and Amy have since worked on building a new bathhouse to accommodate more guests. We welcome you to Backwoods Manor and hope you enjoy your stay!!Learn more about this land:Pitch your tent anywhere on our 45 acres! In the secluded woods or closer to the comforts of the main cabin. 🙂 HAPPY TRAILS LANDING ⛺️ Happy Trails Landing offers primitive camping and is located between Bully Hill, Klipnocky, Gas Springs and Hiltonville State Forests on 140 acres of privately owned land. This peaceful spot is accessible, yet remote. The Finger Lakes Trail (FLT) follows the edge of the property for over 1/2 mile making your stay ideal for day hikes, or as a stop for those hiking longer sections of the 450+ mile network. Wade in the headwaters of the Canisteo River which passes through, or just get lost in the beauty along its shores. Explore streams and beaver ponds, stroll on miles of mowed grassy trails that wind around fields, meadows, and woods. Watch the sun rise and set and open views make for unparalleled star gazing all night long. The nearest 3 small towns are about 7-8 miles away where you can find groceries, gas, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. The larger “city” of Hornell, (with a Walmart and more) is a 15-20 minute drive. The beautiful Stoney Brook State Park is a 22 minute drive and award winning Letchworth State Park is less than 40 minutes away. We are just slightly southwest of the renowned Finger Lakes Region, but our local wine trail begins in under a 15 minute drive. Several breweries have popped up nearby as well! Happy Trails will strive to keep your camping experience peaceful and private by not renting to more than one party at a time in the same area unless requested for larger group experiences. Our home is located 1/4 +/- mile from most sites. We are dog lovers and well behaved dogs are welcome as long as owners notify us in advance, keep them in control and clean up after them. When you arrive you will follow 🙂 signs to your site. There may be scant service without searching out a sweet spot.
