Our property was once an overgrown field that in the past was strip mined for coal. This area was purchased by a local church congregation and has been transformed into a fun, peaceful picnic/recreation area. We enjoy using this area for picnics, birthday/graduation parties, family reunions and other fun, meaningful events. We have even had a few weddings here. Recently we decided that we want to give more people the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful, serene area. This is in a very rural part of Pennsylvania and camping in the winter weather can be difficult. So please prepare yourself with additional sleeping bags for winter. The tent is heated but because of the unpredictable and sometimes dangerous weather you need to be prepared. The bathroom is also outdoors so there will not be a shower provided till after the freezing weather. And the loo is not heated. This spot is best for a van camp location but plenty of space for tents and hammocks. You'll find a drive-up deck if you wish to park there. Firewood is available providing you use downfalls as kindling in the stone fire pit. A 8x20' deck and picnic table are 20 feet from the fire for stargazing. When the ferns are full grown they are 3 feet tall and everywhere. A 10 minute walk takes you through a dense pine forest with large rock formations and a nice creek with many gurgling fall areas. If there looks like a cave amongst the large rocks, then it probably is a bear den. There is a lot to do near by. Some note worthy locations : Cranberry Glade Lake (good for kayaking or fishing), Ohiopyle, 7 Springs, Fallingwater, Living Treasures, Caddie Shak, and Hidden Valley are all about 25 minutes away. Our property is close to Allegheny River access with a local boat ramp in Reesdale, and a fishing pier at Lock 8. From here, you can take the locks all the way to Pittsburgh. Several ATV trails have easy access because you can legally ride on the township roads! A lot of wildlife to see, including deer, bear, fox, coyote, several bird species, and bald eagles. We're close to State Gamelands for hunting. You're welcome to eat any fruit that has ripened here during your stay. The miles of ATV trails are also fun to hike or ride your horse on. Campfires allowed, leashed pets allowed, must be leashed at all times, dogs, cats, and horses. Bring your pets! There is a spring with potable water on the property. Beautiful sunsets here, plus an amazing view across Reesdale Road. You might catch a rainbow too if it rains! Our personal favorite view is the vast nighttime sky. Perfect place for stargazers. We loved camping at this spot so much! We have two small children with us, and the toddler loved checking out the pond and gazebo. The whole space is beautifully green; would recommend splurging a tiny bit for the site with the great view. The hosts are so wonderful, and they gave us some awesome recommendations for nearby National Parks. Such a blessing to meet them. Would definitely stay here again!

Brian’s land was ideal for my needs. Quiet and peaceful, and I felt very secure leaving my travel trailer while visiting Pittsburgh every day. It’s convenient for commuting to the city and very affordable. Brian himself was quick to respond and easy to communicate with (for instance, he was incredibly patient with my inability to find the sewer port and guided me right to it.) It’s no state park with tables and fire pits but it was absolutely perfect for my needs and I’ll definitely return next time I’m in the area to visit folks in PGH

John’s camp is a serene and peaceful space to immerse yourself deep into the pen Pennsylvania countryside. I was driving from New York to California and quit the turnpike because of the crazy rain. I was in my class B 22 foot airstream and drove in & out very easily and was able to hook up to a 30 amp outlet which was great. There is a pavilion with a fridge, there is an outhouse, but I was fully equipped in my van and just wanted a safe haven for the night. John was a great host, responded straight away to my last-minute booking, and filled me in on the property. My dog was able to run around and I was also able to walk along the road for a few miles next morning. t’s a great place if you are in a van & just want to get some peace and quiet, watch fireflies, and deer, and get away from it all. Or If you’re looking for a digital detox, a campfire, and some fun exploring with friends, this is the spot. I appreciated how well laid out it was, it was private from the road & magical!
