The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. We had a perfect fall Sunday followed by a rainy Monday that somehow made the cabin even better. Warm, quiet, and easy to settle into. Jennifer was kind and responsive, and everything felt thoughtful without trying too hard. We found and brought an old CD player, a crate of our old scratched mix CDs, and ended up listening by the fire, laughing at what used to be our favorite songs and what stuck. Turns out, that’s about as good as it gets. Highly recommend bringing a few of your own instant time machine.

We’ve stayed here twice now with our dogs and had an absolute blast both times. We loved it so much that we came back within a month, and we’re already bummed we won’t get to return until next season. Every extra is worth it - the sauna is incredible, the hot tub with the TV is a huge hit, and adding the Nintendo Switch and projector makes for such a fun movie night on the porch. The food is all delicious and clearly made with care. You can tell a lot of thought went into every detail. There are fun little things to read and listen to, and it feels peaceful and private once the sun goes down. The big windows give you a perfect view of the stars at night and the sunrise in the morning. Shaggy really goes above and beyond. We’ve stayed in tons of places over the years, and this is easily one of our top three favorites. Don’t wait, book it and have a great time.

Great place to stay! Russ is a kind and patient guy I got to the campsite really late and still he met me there and showed me where I was gonna be staying and I really appreciated that! Lots of hiking and scenery, great patio on the back of the cabin, comes with a fridge and microwave for any food you bring. There is no insulation so whatever the temperature it is outside it will also be inside, except in the summer there is a window unit, and it’s a tin roof so rain is extra loud on the roof. Other than these things I would recommend anyone stay here for a weekend of solitude or a family getaway!

Everything at Hippie Haven was perfectly curated. Shaggy and Kendra have put a love of love and creativity into their land, and have the clear intention of giving you the utmost comfort, relaxation, and fun on your stay there. Their land is secluded and feels safe, and walking the property at night to visit different amenities (hot tub, sauna) was easy and carefree. The cabin itself was C L E A N and well taken care of. Every detail was looked after, down to clean robes, fresh linens and towels, and even the drink and cookware provided was immaculate and organized. We wanted for absolutely nothing as Shaggy had set everything we needed in place prior to our arrival, and he still was highly communicative and insistent we could reach out for absolutely anything. We opted for the hot tub, sauna, polaroid camera, and firewood add-on. Everything we added made the stay even more magical. My partner and I agreed it was the best air bnb/hipcamp/hotel either of us have EVER stayed in. We’re huge hippies ourselves and it was great to stay in a place that offered a carefree getaway that was also eco conscious, and decorated with care. We enjoyed a fire on the patio each night while listening to just a few of the records Shaggy has to offer - including rolling stones, led zeppelin, neil young, and more. They’re close to a few shops and restaurants as well, but they provide all the tools needed to make a few meals while you’re there. We love Hippie Haven and can’t wait to come back!!

What an amazing experience! Shaggy's Cosmic Cabin is filled with wonderful decor and surprises at every turn. All the amenities you could need are provided and usually with a fun and colorful twist, from tie dye towels and wash cloths to fun shaped dishes, coffee mugs and silverware . There were comfortable robes, to fit all sizes, which makes the tiny walk to the blissful hot tub no issue at all. The make-your-own waffles are both delicious and adorable, with fabulous homemade toppings to cover every possible taste bud craving. My husband and I had a blast browsing the extensive record collection and playing some of our favs while making our dinner or while chilling on the deck in the morning sunshine, while drinking the delicious coffee and tea selections provided, of course! I highly recommend you splurge on the projector rental, as the screen was easy to set up and the projector was simple to use, outside or even inside on the ceiling! Shaggy himself is total sweetie, he explained everything clearly, had fabulous dining and local attraction recommendations, (the Woodstock museum at Bethel Woods was incredible!) and was happy to share his doggie, Taj, with us whenever we needed a soft and sweet canine companion. I highly recommend this Cosmic Cabin! And don't let the composting toilet scare you, it is totally easy to use and the little "nitelights" inside are adorable, lol. Shaggy and Kendra have totally perfected the "glamping" experience!

This place is phenomenal. You can see that the owners really care, everything is so nicely made in clean like I really upgraded Hotel. The hot tub took me about six hours to get my desired temperature. Part of it was because I didn’t know. I have to close the door while it was burning. But after all, it was well worth the work! I have noticed over the years there are two types of places, one, is where the owner wants to make money and have no choice, but to serve so he can collect from his guest money. Two, an owner that wants to serve his guest, but has no choice and have to charge money in order to stay open and be able to serve more people The owners from this place are from the second category, they want to give and serve their guest. The space After taking in the stunning views of Lake Carobeth from your private dock, where you can soak up the sun or hang out by the fire pit. Step inside and marvel at this newly renovated, stylish cabin to find a comfortable living area with a gas fireplace, perfect for snuggling up with a good book or your favorite movie. We have a fully stocked kitchen, all stainless steel appliances to help you whip up a delicious meal, and there's plenty of space to enjoy it together at the dining table. Welcome to our game room! Where we've embraced the retro vibe of the 1980s with our decor! You'll feel like you've stepped back in time as you take in the vibrant colors, bold patterns, and geometric shapes that are synonymous with this iconic era. Bring back the nostalgia with popular games on the Pac-Man arcade machine. Enjoy a game of pool and darts, or simply hang out and gather with friends and family in our entertainment/game room. The cabin has three cozy bedrooms, each with comfortable bedding to ensure a good night's sleep. There are two full bathrooms, one is located next to the master's bedroom adjacent to an extra sleeping area in the loft. Just some of our many amenities worth noting: - Smart TV's. Paramount+, Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN. TV has Roku so you can access your own preferred account for streaming. - Every room has a mini split air conditioning and heating. - Gas fireplace -The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary items you need to make a meal. We also have a coffee station. - fire pit with plenty of chairs to sit around. - Propane grill and outdoor dining table on our back deck. - Included are 2 single kayaks, 1 canoe, and 2 row boats for you to use if you want some water fun. -We provide adult/child life vests. Location: We are located in A Pocono Country Place community where you also can have access to these facilities for a daily fee of $12 per person per day, It is only a a block away, barely 2 minute walk from the cabin: - Beach lake access ( closed for winter ) -Outdoor swimming pool ( closed for winter) -Basketball and tennis courts -Children's outdoor play area -Miniature golf course Approximate distance to main attractions in Poconos Mountains: - Kalahari Waterpark (19 mins away) - Mountain Creek Riding Stables (18 mins away) - Camelback Mountain Resort (24 mins) - Great Wolf Lodge Water Park (22 mins) - Tannersville Premium Outlet Shopping (21 mins away) - Camel Beach & Aquatopia (27 mins away) - Skytop Ziplining (29 mins away) - Pocono Whitewater Rafting (40 mins away) We can't wait to host you at our beautiful lakefront cabin in the Poconos Mountains! Guest access Guests will be able to use the whole home and lake access in the backyard. There is ample parking in the driveway. You will be receiving a door code the day before your travel. It is a unique code that will only activate at the time of check-in. *For lake fishing: You need a fishing license to fish in any lake in PA. Security and Game Commission does show up so make sure you are in compliance. To ACCESS our lakefront cabin, a tenant registration form and waiver are needed prior to your arrival. By booking our home, you agree to comply with this requirement. The host will have the right to cancel your booking within 24 from the travel date if this requirement is not fulfilled with NO refunds. Other things to note Please read " HOUSE RULES" before booking. IMPORTANT INFO * Host will require a liability waiver after booking. Our HOA requires a tenant registration form filled out and submitted a week prior to arrival ( for last-minute bookings, you will need to submit this form and return it back to me as soon as I send it with your confirmation). *We don’t offer refunds for weather, park closures, changes in travel itinerary, or mismanaged expectations. There shall be no refunds of rent for shortened stays due to family emergencies or change of # of guests attending. Power outages and the internet provider being down are beyond our control and no refund policy will apply. Read our description on our listing, and inquire from your hosts regarding the property if you have certain expectations that we may/ or may not meet. Please make sure to check our cancellation policy prior to booking, and avail of your own travel insurance or through Airbnb insurance most especially if you opted for a nonrefundable booking promotion. We have public city water, with a water filtration system on our fridge. You may bring your own preferred water bottle for drinking if you like. We also have a queen sofa pull-out bed in the game room and a futon in the loft area for extra sleeping. All linens for bedrooms and extra sleeping are provided. Our home is fully equipped with/ stainless steel appliances, a dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, stove/oven, blender, dishware/silverware, a Keurig and drip coffee maker, a toaster oven, and a blender. Firewood is NOT included. Bring your own firewood for the fire pit.

Plus, there's endless entertainment, with a game room equipped with a pool, ping pong, and Foosball tables. Also, this home features a large main bedroom on the main floor with a king-size bed, a private bathroom, and a baby crib. The main floor has a second bedroom, which is great for kids. This bedroom features two bunk beds, toys, and a TV for our young guests to enjoy. The lower level features two other large bedrooms and a full bathroom. The kitchen on the main floor has everything you need to enjoy your meals. Pots, pans, utensils, dishes, and spices are all provided for our guests. For our outdoor grill, we give a propane tank. We also offer linen and towels. The home has a free WiFi connection and cable TV. We try our best to make your stay as comfortable as we can. All you need to do is grab your clothes, friends, and family and visit our home! Our lakefront house is located in the heart of the Poconos! With a gorgeous view of the lake and all of the amenities this home offers, you will enjoy your stay. You will love to swim in the lake, kayaking, walk to the community lake beach, or enjoy your time in the community pool. Basketball and tennis courts, playground for the youngest of our guests, there is something for everyone! If this is not completed on time, guests will be responsible for covering the additional community fee for late registration. *Registration paperwork must be submitted at least 3 days before check-in to avoid a $150 later registration fee *Pets are $100 per pet *Please do the following before checking out to avoid any further cleaning fees: -Gather all trash & recycling and place them in the trash bins outside. -Please wash your dishes or place them in the dishwasher and run. -Make sure all windows and doors are locked and closed -Place all used towels in a pile by the shower or laundry room -No need to strip the beds! - Please inform us of any damages/stains, etc., as soon as possible - I would also appreciate any suggestions or recommendations to improve the property. -Ensure you have everything with you. There will be a $25 fee to ship any items, plus the cost of shipping.
