The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. Lovely. Located on beautiful grounds. Perfect camping cabin. FYI, there are no provisions. No coffee, no sugar, no paper towels, etc. You have to bring everything in. Like a campground basically.This is not a complaint- but important to know. Plan ahead. It’s a wonderful cabin with a great, “vibe” Clean and very comfortable- cozy! Host is communicative and gracious.

We loved staying at Ed’s cabin! Ed and his family are extremely kind hosts. The cabin is peaceful, private, and clean. The lake is a perfect place to swim and relax, the trails on the property are fun to explore, and the land around the cabin is beautiful, we especially loved bbqing and having a bonfire every night. Ed was very easy to communicate with and super helpful when it came to planning our trip. We knew exactly what we needed to bring and what would be supplied. There’s a lot to do in the surrounding area and there’s a ton of info on trails and things to do for your group provided at the cabin as well. We really enjoyed our stay and will be returning!

He enjoyed the hammock and swing. The cabin, area, outdoor shower and sink were very clean. Porta potty was spotless and smelled fresh.

Weekend Trip to Sunset Shore Cabin on Private Lake

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Perfect Family Getaway We had the BEST stay at this rustic cabin on the lake. It was the perfect place to slow down, relax, and spend quality time together in a beautiful setting. The sunset over the lake was picturesque and serene. The cabin was cozy, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The cabin fit my family of 4 and 2 dogs easily with space to move around. Our kids especially enjoyed spending time on the water, and we are very grateful to our generous hosts for allowing us to use the boats and kayaks. Paddling around the lake and exploring together created memories our family will cherish for years to come. Our only regret is that we wished we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend this cabin to families looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway. ❤️🌲🛶🌊

We loved the Cubby! Cozy little cabin with a comfy bed. Great private deck that feels like being in a tree house - perfect spot for enjoying morning coffee and the sound of Elk Creek. Not fancy but well equipped. Russ, who manages the campground, was friendly and helpful. Great location near World's End state park. We will be back.

Weekend Trip to Elk Creek Escape/Sawmill Woodzie

This was a quiet spot tucked away from the road & other campers plus it is near woods. Perfect place to mimic camping without the tent! Comfortable beds, an indoor gas stove to heat water & firewood provided. Was clean and Russ, the Manager was very helpful. Remember, no telephone or wi-fi service in the area so get very specific directions to the camp office! It's not well marked from the main roads.

The cabin has an energy about it that feels cozy, comfy, protective and magical - sitting there nestled into the the woods. The property - with a trail to a creek full of waterfalls, swim holes and much else to explore - is perfect! No need to leave to find things to do!

4 nights at Pocono Cabin With No Name

Such a great place! The cabin is bigger inside than we expected. Beds and even the sofa were comfortable. Loft is super low but was fun for the kids. Theres plenty of inside games to try but bring your own outside games. Kitchen had pretty much everything. Fire pit was great and having local dry wood to use was definitely key. Creek walk was super fun, we went every day it wasnt raining. Spent one day at Lake Tobyhanna nearby. Feels like youre in the woods but Aldi is 10 minutes away. We would absolutely come back. Saw 2 fox, 1 salamander, many slugs, butterflies and caterpillars. Wish we could take the fresh air home :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at haunted tree farm. Quiet, open skies, private. The cabin is thoughtfully appointed to accommodate a number of needs, down to a coffee station for K cups, or drip coffee. Bring your favorite DvDs for fun movie nights, or pick from the stack inside the cabin! The fire pit was large and comfortable, the grill outdoors covered most of our cooking needs, and we found that there was plenty of seating, indoor or outdoor, to accommodate small to large groups. Encounters with wildlife or priceless, we definitely had a fantastic trip!

Late to reviewing but this is my most favorite place! We left some mugs for all to enjoy with our favorite memories and our most precious, Frank. Ordered them specifically to leave at the cabin. I look forward to spending time here every year as it’s a little spot of heaven. The lake is perfect even in temperature. The cabin has everything you could need. The spot is incredible. Don’t pass this place up on small “imperfections” you will never find a better spot than here. Tucked away in northern PA.

Sunset Shore Cabin had everything we needed for a great weekend trip. Everything was neat and clean. There were multiple towels and washcloths for use to use, and all the silverware/pots/utensils and supplies we would ever need. The lake is peaceful and quiet, and the inflatable boats and dock are in great shape. We even lit the tiki torches going down the path at night. We purchased wifi as well and it worked great, I would certainly love to stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Cabin Getaway

Andreas land is so peaceful. We brought our reactive dog and she loved being off leash. The state park is about 15 min away and had great trails. On the property and nearby there is absolutely no service. There is wifi at the state park but we had no service at the campsite and none until we got the park so download any GPS maps. The actual cabin is nice and has two small cots (a bit hard for my liking so bring an air mattress or mattress pad). They had a great grill, picnic tables and a nice outdoor shower. The shower and porta potties were super clean. Thanks again for the stay!
