Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions. Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization. Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. You can listen to an interview on The Christian Witness Program on this page for some history about Moire and Randy in Tennessee where they were residing before coming to Indiana. They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center. Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or contribute to it! :) This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out. There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :) *Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. We stayed just overnight (a middle point between home and our final destination) but my husband and I both agreed that we would have loved to’ve stayed longer in this peaceful spot! We were mildly worried that it might be hot inside when we arrived (early evening) but it was perfect — and, as other reviewers have said, it made for really comfortable sleeping with the powerful fan and the breeze. We wish we’d had time to see the river. Maybe someday!

Staying at Pablo and Lorena's Invisible Love House was the highlight of my summer! My partner and I spent two nights here and left feeling rejuvenated and incredibly relaxed. Pablo was incredibly kind and dropped us off at a spot with kayaks to spend a few hours on the river. We were delayed in getting back (no service on the river meant that we couldn't message him and let him know) and he was there ready for us when we arrived. I appreciate the time he took out of his day to make sure we had the best stay possible. The cabin was cozy, clean, and had everything we could need! There was a huge thunderstorm one of the nights we were there and watching it from the inside of the cabin was so magical. I cannot recommend this place enough:)

We had a wonderful stay at the invisible house on Pablo and Lorena's property! It is secluded and serene but Pablo and Lorena always responded super quickly and were SO friendly and helpful whenever I had a question. You're set up on a hill a little ways back from their house, so you have plenty of privacy. We wound up spending a lot of time at the cabin just hanging out, having fires, lounging in the chairs on the back porch. The invisible house gets hot during the day in late July, but the large fan actually keeps it super cool at night and the beds are comfortable. I got some of the best sleep of my life here. The private river access is a few minute drive or 15-20 minute walk away and wow, it is beautiful there. Perfectly clear water, great for swimming and would be nice for kids as it doesn't get too deep until you're out quite a ways. Went fishing at the public river access up the way and caught several sunnies and smallmouth. Nearby Prospect Peak and the overlook in Cacapon state park are breathtaking. Tons of fun stuff to do in Berkeley Springs, Fairfax coffee house and the massive cat cafe absolutely rock. I can't say enough good things about this place and our hosts. If you're looking at this place thinking about booking, do it! You won't regret it.

As soon as we pulled in to freedom run Ranch we knew we would enjoy ourselves. The horses had a great place to stay with big grassy pens and stalls for nighttime in a big old Beautiful barn. The owners were very gracious and helped us with everything. The Cabin is super cute! There are nice places to sit outside in the shade. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Though we only stayed one night, on our trip through the area, we would definitely stay again.

Loved the complimentary snacks for us and mini milk bones for the dogs. So close to the hikes and the town. Gorgeous land with a trail that was flourishing with a variety of mushrooms and salamanders too.

Being in a clear house in the woods gives you the feeling of being fully immersed in nature. Having the outhouse, shower, & sink allows you to also feel clean & comfortable. There is electricity & wifi, which is a plus because otherwise we did not get any service. Hosts live on the property & were responsive. We enjoyed the river. Very peaceful.

Weekend Trip to The Byrd's Nest on the River

It's an adorable cabin in a very peaceful setting, but not too far from Grand Cacapon or Berkeley Springs. The cabin is clean and well-appointed, although a tad tight with 3 teenagers. Do make sure to pay attention to the instructions and bring trash bags. Its a great "base camp" to go out and explore the local area.

2 nights at Casita Of LOVE (Panhandle WV)

Our time at The Invisible House was exactly what we were hoping for - it was not only peaceful, but we had everything we needed for a restful 3 nights and 4 days. Even though we had planned to spend an evening in Berkeley Springs, we opted to sit by the campfire each night and just be swallowed up in nature! Lorena was a gracious hostess, making sure we were comfortable and sharing their beautiful property with us. What an experience! We would love to visit again!

Pablo & Lorena were amazing! They are so kind, caring, accommodating and helpful. The site was perfect! I took my 93 year old mother and she had the time of her life. She slept better than she has in a long time. The invisible house was so tranquil and the beds were so comfy. Lorena & Pablo’s took the tubes and kayak to the river for us and offered to pick us up down the river. This was a trip she will never forget!

Pablo & Lorena have set up a wonderful oasis in a beautiful part of the WV wilds. They are very welcoming, the cabin has everything you'd need for your stay and more. The heated shower was a nice touch. Everything was clean and ready for us when we got there. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again!
