This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports.
The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site.
We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. The Byrd's Nest is a river front, primitive campsite on the scenic Cacapon River in Great Cacapon, WV. The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or/ contribute to it! :)
This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out.
There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :)
*Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable.

We are located in beautiful Clearfield county Pennysalvina. Our farm is on over 150 acres. It’s has been in the family for generations. It has beautiful farm views with wooded areas. There is lots of wildlife to see. Including bear, bobcat, deer, eagles, fishers, and many other species. We have lots of hiking trails and our property also boarders state game lands. It’s a short drive to the Susquehanna River and other parks. You can also enjoy the cows, goats, peacocks, chickens, ducks, and turkeys at the farm. Contact the host and set up a time to visit and feed the animals. Learn more about our family farm and the animals. We also have a sawmill and wood shop. Nearby is Bilgers Rocks, Rock Run Atv Park, Prince Gallitzin State Park, the Susquehanna River, and many other fantastic outdoor activities. It’s a place to unwind and relax. And connect with nature. This is in a very rural part of Pennsylvania and camping in the winter weather can be difficult. So please prepare yourself with additional sleeping bags for winter. The tent is heated but because of the unpredictable and sometimes dangerous weather you need to be prepared. The bathroom is also outdoors so there will not be a shower provided till after the freezing weather. And the loo is not heated. It is also recommended that you have all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive to get to the campsite in the winter. It is possible to walk from road to site. But you should consider this when booking. RTR is a very beautiful place in the winter but it can also be dangerous if you’re not prepared.

This riverfront, fully equipped, beautifully crafted treehouse is not your average child's treehouse, but kids are certainly welcome. Walk up the easy 14 steps into this A Frame tiny house and you'll be surprised at the roominess. Inside you'll discover a full kitchen, full bathroom with shower, living area with sofa bed sectional, dining area, and loft with a queen bed. Step out on the deck, just a stone's throw from the river and listen to the sounds below of the gurgling moving water over the rocks. Move down below the treehouse to find another huge deck with a hot tub, relaxing seating, and a table for dining outside. But that's not all; step off that deck to a fire pit and steps leading to the river. The river is great for swimming, fishing, and boating and we even supply a canoe and kayaks.
Much of the treehouse was built with wood from the property, including the poplar floor joists, rafters, and siding. Inside you'll find several different species of beautiful wood, most from the property, including black walnut, oak, ash, cherry, and more. The two giant Tulip Poplar trees that supports the treehouse continue to grow and in the early summer produce the tulip like flowers.
If you're up for exercise or adventure, just across the river is the H&BT Bike Trail, which is now 14 miles long. A short drive takes you to a trailhead or if you're just looking for a hike on the trail, canoe across and climb up the short hill to the trail. Also across the river is a 2600 acre Pennsylvania State Game Land and 2000 foot high Kimber Mountain; if you're looking for a challenging and primitive hike, climb the mountain or work your way up Kimber Run, a small brook with many small waterfalls. Adventure abounds near Treehouse Waters.
There are also many other things to do in Bedford and Huntington Counties. The Raystown Lake is less than 20 miles away and the county seat, the small, charming town of Bedfrod is also only 20 miles away. Take a look at the Bedfrod County Tourist site for more activities.

Ridge Top Retreat is a fantastic peaceful getaway in Appalachian farm country (thanks again for the farm tour, we loved the friendly goats). Rebecca has already thought of literally everything so that you don’t have to; odds are good that if you forgot it, it’s already covered. Amazing attention to detail, every last thing is cute, inviting, comfortable, and well thought out - you can tell that she genuinely cares about your visitor experience. The site itself offers a beautiful view of the countryside that you might see in a painting. The campfire is cozy with lots of tree canopy and comfortable even in light rain. Having ample firewood already on site makes it so much easier. Every one of the extras and amenities make all the difference (a hot shower is a BIG one). I would highly recommend anyone who wants a calm, safe, relaxing, and comfortable experience to have a visit.

Being in a clear house in the woods gives you the feeling of being fully immersed in nature. Having the outhouse, shower, & sink allows you to also feel clean & comfortable. There is electricity & wifi, which is a plus because otherwise we did not get any service. Hosts live on the property & were responsive. We enjoyed the river. Very peaceful.

Virgil is a wonderful host. This is a beautiful spot of land. The cabin was bigger than I thought it would be. It had everything we needed and more! We will definitely be back.

It's an adorable cabin in a very peaceful setting, but not too far from Grand Cacapon or Berkeley Springs. The cabin is clean and well-appointed, although a tad tight with 3 teenagers. Do make sure to pay attention to the instructions and bring trash bags. Its a great "base camp" to go out and explore the local area.

2 nights at Casita Of LOVE (Panhandle WV)
Our time at The Invisible House was exactly what we were hoping for - it was not only peaceful, but we had everything we needed for a restful 3 nights and 4 days. Even though we had planned to spend an evening in Berkeley Springs, we opted to sit by the campfire each night and just be swallowed up in nature! Lorena was a gracious hostess, making sure we were comfortable and sharing their beautiful property with us. What an experience! We would love to visit again!

Pablo & Lorena were amazing! They are so kind, caring, accommodating and helpful. The site was perfect! I took my 93 year old mother and she had the time of her life. She slept better than she has in a long time. The invisible house was so tranquil and the beds were so comfy. Lorena & Pablo’s took the tubes and kayak to the river for us and offered to pick us up down the river. This was a trip she will never forget!

Pablo & Lorena have set up a wonderful oasis in a beautiful part of the WV wilds. They are very welcoming, the cabin has everything you'd need for your stay and more. The heated shower was a nice touch. Everything was clean and ready for us when we got there. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again!

I loved this place. My husband, my toddler, and I loved our stay there. The place was clean, organized, and cozy. The outdoor bathroom is just so beautiful.
Rebecca is a great host. She was very welcoming and helpful. She has a variety of farm animals, each one with a unique personality. We truly enjoyed our time there and we hope to go back soon.

We loved our stay! It was nice and secluded. We loved cooking on the campfire grill/tripod. The electric blanket worked great on the cold nights. Pablo and Lorena were quick to respond with any questions or issues. They respected our privacy. We would definitely stay here again.
