The toilet is not available in winter due to freezing temps. We keep it open through October and generally close it sometime in November. It's pretty dark here. There are no large cities anywhere around here. My family moved here in 1957 and I purchased it from my father in 1975. Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976. They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden. In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers. The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated. We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

Nearly 2,500 acres of marshes and woodlands create a beautiful ambiance for your next getaway in Mother Nature. The farm is within walking distance of hiking and cross-country ski trails that meander through the Erie National Wildlife Refuge. Also, Crawford County's best kept secret for Perch, Walleye and Blue Gill fishing (including ice fishing) is a mile away at Sugar Lake. If you come for the hunting, (in season) let us know in advance and we will help you secure the proper permits and learn the rules of the refuge. Speaking of the wildlife, come armed with your binoculars and a good camera. Common sightings include high and low-flying Bald Eagles and other birds of prey, as well as many varieties of colorful, native song birds. You may also encounter other woodland creatures, such as, White-Tail Deer, Black Bears, Coyotes, and of course, smaller furry critters, like raccoons, fox, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, beavers, ground hogs and opossum. We are conveniently located south of Lake Erie and 16 miles east of Pymatuning Reservoir for additional recreational opportunities. We currently offer 2 campsites, and both are conveniently located near a cottage style bathroom which features a flush toilet and shower. The electric site provides a 30 amps connection and a hook-up to water if desired. Each site has a campfire ring with outdoor chairs. A redwood picnic table is located at each site. An outdoor utility sink is also provided for dishwashing and can be found outside the bathhouse. Abundant firewood is available for $5.00 a wheelbarrow. (Honor system). If you are bringing dogs, please be aware that Sunny the inside/outside cat may greet you (he loves to say hello). For his safety and the safety of your pet, please keep dogs leashed. Please NO SMOKING allowed on farm or in bathroom.

Nestled in Pennsylvania Dutch country, between a large dairy farm and the Erie National Wildlife Refuge, Too Far Out Farm is favored for its natural beauty and tranquility. Residents of TFO Farm include horses, sheep, and various other friendlies of the canine and feline varieties. You could set your watch by the evening visits of our neighbors: A herd of very social dairy cows, who always seem to mosey on down right around supper time every evening. The primitive campsite will accommodate tents or a small RV. Don't worry about nosey or annoying camp neighbors, because we only book one group at a time - YOURS! The campsite includes a large fire ring, a limited amount of cut and stacked wood, a composting toilet and a small camp table. There is room for a smaller rig if you want to bring your RV or ATV. ATV or horse trail riding delights many a visitor all four seasons of the year around here. Our herd may be available for horseback riding on the back roads of Penn's woods, but please let us know ahead of time if you want to trail ride. I'm sorry, but we cannot accommodate your personal horses at this time. The farm is within walking distance of hiking and cross-country ski trails that meander through the Erie National Wildlife Refuge. Also, Crawford County's best kept secret for Perch, Walleye and Blue Gill fishing (including ice fishing) is a mile away at Sugar Lake. If you come for the hunting, (in season) let us know in advance and we will help you secure the proper permits and learn the rules of the refuge. Speaking of the wildlife, come armed with your binoculars and a good camera. Common sightings include high and low-flying Bald Eagles and other birds of prey, as well as many varieties of colorful, native song birds. You may also encounter other woodland creatures, such as, White-Tail Deer, Black Bears, Coyotes, and of course, smaller furry critters, like raccoons, fox, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, beavers, ground hogs and opossum. Be sure to steer clear of the skunks and the porcupines, though! We can't wait to share this little slice of heaven on earth with you at Too Far Out Farm!

We cant express how stunning this property is. The pictures simply don't do it any justice. Barry and his son were wonderful hosts during our stay. They provided plenty of fire wood and water. The bed was comfortable and the tent was cozy. They did offer a heater in case we were too cold at night but we were just fine. Waking up to the sounds of nature and the creek were incredible. Saw my first bald eagle in real life! We couldn't be happier. This site has now become a tradition for us. Cant wait to visit again

I did not experience the winery because I got there after close and left before open so cannot speak to that but host was easy to communicate with and the price was great. Road's a little busy but pretty quiet by 11. The highway can barely be heard in the distance. Very much enjoyed the presence of some nearby chatty killdeer who also kindly quieted down after dark.

One of the most scenic spots I've stayed, absolutely the prettiest in Ohio. The area is quiet, fully wooded, and just incredibly peaceful. The tent was unfortunately a bit mildewy, but even with that we had a great time. It sounds like the issue was just timing, we'll be back for sure. Can't wait to try the cabin or tent spot!

What a unique HC site. Winery and event center wasn’t open the day we arrived, however, the assistant winemaker showed us around and we tasted some great wines. Large level grassy area with easy back-in parking for our 45’ rig. Our dogs enjoyed the “Barking Lot”, a very large fenced area with picnic tables for their parents. Very safe and quiet overnight stop.

What a beautiful site in a great location to explore the wineries, beaches and covered bridges! So close to many pristine, uncrowded beaches with gorgeous sunsets. The stars numbered in the zillions! Chris and Alan are superb hosts and rescued us when we forgot our corkscrew :-); we added on the breakfasts and they were sublime and creative. Coffee was ready early! Our dog loved exploring the lovely farm and enjoyed the biscuits. We will happily return next season and bring the rest of our family! Super romantic and so peaceful.

We arrived later in the evening but Alan was there to greet us. Super nice guy! He told us all about the farm and how he and Chris worked to bring it back to a more natural state. The grounds are lovely and well kept. The area for tent camping was well maintained with a nice firepit. Composting toilet was so nice to have and it was clean. It was nice to be able to hear owls and coyote at night. Would definitely come back here to stay when we are in the area. Thank you, Alan and Chris!

It was a great site. East site. Both are great. They face each other but they like 40 feet away. Full hookup is always nice. It was a minute walk to Lake Erie. It’s really rocky so I suggest shoes. The sunset was beautiful. Sun rises through the trees on the other side. There is a well groomed walking path along the Chautauqua River on the other side of our site. It meets with the lake. Walked the beach back to our access area. One home, close by, made a cool rock castle. Very pretty. It was quiet and secluded. But town is only a couple miles from here. There are plenty of eateries. We went to the farmers market in Moore park to get corn and tomatoes. Also cool artisans there. Especially the wood carving. They had baked goods. Mostly fried food. You can hear the train. It must go fairly fast because they blow the horn. Super close to I 90. So very convenient. You do need a self contained rig. No public restroom/ shower. Will definitely be going back. We really enjoyed our stay.

The place was amazing. We arrived at 8:30 in the evening and the store was closed. We found an employee who contacted the owner and they were kind enough to open the store for us. We bought wine, which was wonderful, and we also bought sparkling cider. All made at Spring Hill Winery...we camped, and in the morning, we used the bark park for our 6 yorkies. They loved it! Before we left to continue our journey, we ate at their restaurant. The food was great and the Alcoholic Ciders we bought were exceptional. We would definitely recommend this place for anyine who is looking for a place to camp.
