Ruah Ranch is situated on an old donation land claim and was also the site of nomadic Native American tribes. Abundant wildlife graces our acres as well as the beautiful Thoroughbred horses we raise. You'll likely be serenaded by coyotes in the evenings and may catch sight of them during the day.  Three different species of raptors frequent the skies above the ranch and beavers have established outposts along the stream. Beautiful thoroughbred horses will greet you every morning from their nearby pasture while you enjoy your coffee in the shade of the trellised Wisteria. Silver Falls State Park is a short drive away where you can enjoy hiking and biking and even guided horseback rides. The Oregon Gardens are just a bit further north on the outskirts of Silverton and many wineries dot the landscape all around. If you like horses we’ll be happy to give you a tour of the ranch and introduce you to the resident equines, many of which have horse racing royalty up close in their lineage.

We love seeing the world, with our favorite destinations being Mexico, Dubai, and Canada. Also, we love camping and decided to create a little private camping ground and farm lodge for people who wish to camp without huge expense. We try hard to make each guest’s stay wonderfully memorable. Owner will be close by to answer any questions but gives you a space and privacy. We have a one acre lot in the city. Our 22' Tipi with access to a full bathroom (shower, sink, toilet). You may also camp in your own tent or vehicle. Get a fire going under our 20' x 30' canvas shelter and cook dinner or work on crafts (we use this space to teach bushcraft and survival skills classes). Pick plums, cherries, pears, apples and wild blackberries when in season. It's a 1 minute walk to access the best coffee shop and cafe in town. Our camp feels a little like you are in the country while being within walking distance of large city parks (Avery Park and Willamette Park), swimming holes, grocery stores and restaurants. As an urban site, you may hear street traffic on Hwy 99, although it's subtle. There is urban light from both a street light and the storage units on the North border of the property. The Tipi itself offers some barrier to these lights, however, if you want to be in a really dark location and see all the stars, this is probably not the site for you. Also, during the rainy season, the tipi isn't waterproof. We are close to Oregon State University campus (15 min bike ride, 30 min walk) and easy access to I-5 corridor (about 15 min drive). We host you as a family of 3 including our young daughter who might try to get you to pick blackberries with her.

We are thrilled to welcome guests from around the world to Miranda’s farm and Recreation. It’s just the kind of place that we want to stay if we were visiting the Portland-Molalla area! We enjoy meeting interesting, creative, and passionate people from near and far and sharing our camping ideas off the grid. You are relaxed and welcoming. Staying on our private resort farm is like staying with friends or family. Me and my husband, Sotero, are from different continents. We met in Portland, Oregon, over 25 years ago. Being able to communicate in five languages gave us the opportunity to interact with people from various cultures, try new foods, and learn about new history and experiences. Please text your time off arrival, make sure we open gates.

Please Note: The bathroom and kitchenette are located a short walk away (bathrobes provided) in our Historic Barn and where the horses will keep you company. You may see us and other guests working with the horses, cleaning stalls, etc... However, the kitchenette and Barn Bathroom is for for your exclusive use. Explore private trails right from the property. And the amazing nearby waterfalls. Including Abiqua Falls just up the road, and 'The Trail of Ten Falls' at Silver Falls St. Park. The 'Bali House' and surrounding yard are private. We do live on site and are available throughout your stay, but we will not disturb you. Silverton has several excellent restaurants, great brew pubs, a seasonal farmer's market, and shopping. It is also home of The Oregon Gardens, a world class botanical garden. Crooked Finger Farms has great history. The Farm and surrounding acreage was homesteaded in the late 1850’s-1860’s. You can still pick the fruit from the original heirloom apple and pear trees! Tipi in Town

22mi from Waterloo · 1 site · Lodging · Corvallis, OR
We have a one acre lot in the city.

Where to go

Along the South Santiam River

The South Santiam River offers lots of opportunities for fishing and boating, and the quiet stretch near Waterloo sees less activity than some of the busier areas. The river links up with the Foster Reservoir, a popular spot to go fishing, boating, swimming, and camping in the summer months.

Santiam State Forest

Situated on the western slopes of the Cascade Range, this small forest is full of hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails, plus five campgrounds. It's also the site of a couple of pretty waterfalls: Shellburg Falls and Stasel Falls.

Albany and Around

The biggest city in Lynn County, Albany offers a good mix of historic attractions and outdoor recreation opportunities, with multiple parks within city limits plus two golf courses. Albany also has a few historic houses and a hand-carved wooden carousel.

When to go

Summer is ideal for visiting the Waterloo area, with temperatures at their highest in July and August. However, this time of year is also busy, owing largely to Waterloo’s proximity to the most densely populated parts of Oregon, so expect lots of camping families up until Labor Day, when school goes back in session. September is a great time to visit if you want warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and a lower risk of rain.
