There is an abundance of kindling around the property - great for getting a fire going. The stove holds 18" x 4" split logs, if you have some to bring. There are two smaller stuffed chairs, and two bar stools at a counter/bar with views of the creek. The bathroom has a shower and vanity sink, and towels and toiletries are provided. There is hot and cold running water, although the 3-gallon hot water heater limits showers to less than 5 minutes. Nice sturdy steps lead up to the loft upstairs which has an 8" full-sized (wider than a twin but narrower than a queen) memory foam mattress with fresh linens. The loft is low and cozy which allows the camper to sit up on the bed but not stand up. A compost toilet is about 100 yards away, and has a rechargeable motion detector indoor light. Bring your flashlights to find the compost toilet as well as the hot tub as the property is very dark. WiFi is available. The password is listed in the binder on the table. Some games and puzzles are provided.

Our 100 acre ranch allows us to host guests in their own RV's, at camp/tent sites, or in our new A-frame Cabin all located in private, and even secluded, sites. Several well maintained trails wind throughout the property and can be enjoyed by guests. Nature enthusiasts enjoy the hiking, wildlife viewing, and the beautiful ponds and woods. Crater Lake Woodlands is part of the historic Katydid Ranch. Once owned by Boise Cascade who used it both for growing seedlings to replant logged mountain sides and as a vacation getaway for their executives, the story of Katydid Ranch goes back to the early 1900's when it's owner named "Katy" used it as the "half-way" overnight lodging for horse & buggy guests traveling to Crater Lake from the Rogue Valley. Leaving the valley at the crack of dawn, they could arrive at "Katy's" by nightfall, in time for a meal and sound mountain sleep. They'd hitch up at dawn and make it to Crater Lake by nightfall. Historically, the first residents were the Rogue River Takelma and Latgawa native Americans. Latgawa lived in the Rogue Valley of interior southwest Oregon. In their own language "Latgawa" means "those living in the “uplands," though they were also known as the Walumskni by the neighboring Klamath tribes. Specifically, Ha-ne-sakh. The Latgawa were one of two peoples who spoke the Takelma language. They were hunters, gatherers, weavers and fished the Rogue River. They were known to have a stationary settlement and trading post at the Katydid Ranch location. Their tribes lived in the upper Rogue River area extending beyond Prospect and Union up to Crater Lake. Since we've owned the Ranch, we've maintained the custom of welcoming overnight guests and at the same time, we continue to honor the protected wildlife designation given to it back in the 50's. Wildlife viewing is one the delights we share with our guests. Please be mindful of native wildlife keeping dogs on leash so as to avoid chasing and barking at wildlife. Thank you. The animals here include, but are not limited to black tail deer, elk, fox, coyote, ringtailed cat, raccoon, skunk, and also typically farther up the mountain are the elusive mountain lions and black bear which we have never spotted on our property. The ponds and surrounding area are home to migratory to the Oregon Pond turtle, Canada geese, quail, wild turkeys, various owls including the great horned owls, hawks, cranes and eagles. Our pond bird watcher friends spotted Common Mergansers, Ring Necked Ducks, Canada Geese…and a Loon. The bull frogs orchestrate the evening and can be heard at times throughout the day. Katydid Ranch is a wildlife sanctuary. The flora and fauna of the forest is abundant and diverse. This land is home to many native grasses, ferns, and berries, wild flowers, as well as many other edible and medicinal plants and numerous varieties of mushrooms. If you are visiting during blackberry season, feel free to pick, pick, pick and indulge. Katydid trees include old growth Douglas Fir, Ponderosa, Sugar, and Jeffrey Pine, various Cedar tree varieties, Incense Cedar, the majestic Pacific Madrone, Alder, Big Leaf Maple, Black and White Oak, Dog wood, and Vine Maple. My partner and I spent a weekend at Cedar Bloom’s Gnome Dome and it was absolutely amazing! This quirky, whimsical accommodation was the perfect base for our redwood adventure. The amenities were outstanding – we loved the river access, the sauna (such a treat after hiking), and the fire pit where we made s’mores under the stars. The whole property felt thoughtfully designed for relaxation. Location-wise, it’s perfectly situated for exploring the area. We hiked the incredible Jedediah Smith Redwoods (about an hour away), and coming back to the dome to unwind by the fire was exactly what we needed. This is the kind of place that makes you slow down, breathe deep, and actually be present. We left feeling completely refreshed. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique, peaceful escape surrounded by nature! We will definitely be returning again.

Friendly Hosts who greeted me even when I arrived a little late. Bathrooms were clean and showers were warm. Cabin 1 could hold 4 though I came solo. Heater in the cabin kept the place warm. It was nice having a roof over my head given it was storming outside.

Stayed in one of the A-frames with my two small dogs for a weekend and had a lovely time. It was a stormy, rainy couple of days in October, so I didn’t get to explore the property or surrounding area much, but that ended up being perfect since I had just come to relax anyway. Once I got set up inside (with some string lights, a hot water bottle, and a good book), it felt nice and cozy. I was glad to have brought the hot water bottle and a couple of extra blankets, b/c the temps inside were roughly the same as they were outside. The transparent panels make it feel like you’re sleeping among the trees, and the sound of rain on the roof was wonderful. The roof is corrugated steel, so the first time an acorn pinged off it I just about jumped out of my skin, but we got used to it quickly. Ultimately I think those noises were part of the charm. Saw some beautiful deer and lots of wild turkeys. As a woman camping solo, I felt very safe. The property isn’t completely remote (it’s tucked next to a neighborhood and there’s a private residence onsite) but it still has a peaceful, wilderness feel, especially in late October when there were fewer visitors. For anyone curious (since I couldn’t find this info beforehand), each A-frame has its own fire ring and picnic table. Thank you for the great weekend!

I love this place. I’ll stay here any chance I get. It’s lovely. Spacious camp sites. Hot tea and coffee area. The river. The outdoor showers. And the A frames are so cool! But I recommend arriving in the daylight if it’s your first time. I came after dark and I’m pretty sure I would have been lost if I didn’t already know my way around. It’s not well lit at night. Makes for good sleep— but def bring a head lamp.

Weekend Trip to Lane Creek Reserve

As a solo female traveler, being able to camp on a budget somewhere where I feel totally safe is HUGE. It was great to stay on a family farm in an area that’s not too remote. I “glamped” in one of their platform tents. It was cold overnight and it was awesome that the tent had a heater. There was also WiFi, a clean & bright, fully enclosed shower space, and a clean composting toilet. I fed the animals with Lara which was hilarious and joyful — so glad I opted for that. The farmstand is the best!! Too late in the season for fresh veg but I stocked up on homemade preserves and Lara’s cookies! 10/10

Let me start off by saying we loved our stay! It was peaceful and quiet, warm and cozy, and we had everything we needed. Our hosts had thought of so many details that made our stay such a pleasant experience and what we were hoping for. Fire pit with some wood, hotwater for awesome outdoor shower,coffee and basic kitchen needs, but also wonderful little details like robes for the shower, a simple map of the two trails we could walk and ice in the ice chest. Great hosts. Power went out once and they promptly got it fixed. Our only struggle was that it rained while we were there and we didn't get to spend as much time outside as we were hoping. The kitchen table didn't have a cover over it and so we couldn't use it while raining, (bringing a canopy for the rain would have been nice.) But we still had a nice dry and warm time in the cabin area. Excellent stay, will stay here again!

Cedar bloom is great! This was my second time staying there and first in the dome. It was cold and having a fireplace was amazing. The community kitchen was well stocked with all the dishes and cookware needed to cook a meal. The bed was comfy, the hosts were very nice and the sauna/shower's worked great. No complaints, I’ll hopefully be back next summer.

We had a fantastic time! We went in October and the weather was cold and rainy. However, everything was so comfy and cozy. The blankets they provide for the A-frame cabins were more than enough to keep us warm all night. The amenities are great: full on kitchen with all you need to make meals, the tea house was well stocked, the bathrooms did not smell and were fairly clean, the showers had hot water, the sauna was amazing. We really want to come back during the summer and enjoy the river and sleeping with the A-frame open. A wonderful and stellar experience.

Weekend Trip to Crater Lake Private Woodlands

Such an amazingly gorgeous spot! We felt like we were in a movie. So glad we went in the fall. So many beautiful colors. Russel, the ranch manager was very accommodating and professional. I can’t wait to go back. We did have some rain while we were there and since you have to remove your shoes before entering the cabin, it would be nice to put a shoe tray on the floor for our shoes because the awning on the front door is too small to protect our shoes from rain if left outside. My daughter also thinks some battery or solar string lights inside the cabin would be a nice touch. But all in all it was fabulous. We slept so good. We did a 6 mile hike to the gorge and It was just so incredibly peaceful and beautiful. Thank you.

This is an incredibly beautiful space to spend time in nature. The outdoor showers make it very easy to be in the river or sun all day and still feel clean. The mattress pads for the A-frames were a little stiff (even for someone who likes a firm mattress) so a camping pad would work well for extra comfort. Over all an incredible stay.

Stayed in the A-frame cabin and were so grateful for the sweet getaway. Loved being surrounded by nature while having all the creature comforts ready for us- couple of lanterns, bedding, a propane bbq, very clean porta-potty just a short walk away. The site was easy to find and walk around the pond was lovely. We even had great cell service (Verizon and AT&T)! Day trip to Crater Lake was stunning! Would definitely recommend!
