Our Garden & Galaxy Retreat in Portland, OR is a stunner. It is built with salvaged materials from nearby painted lady Victorian home that are the pillars at the entrance and the siding is from a nearby barn. The sliding door as you enter is a salvaged US Federal Building Door that glides on barn rails and it has the original mail slot in the door. The retreat is an indoor/outdoor experience as there are two walls that feature beveled shutters that open and the roof is a see through experience to watch the birds, wildlife and stars. The queen bed is super comfortable and there is a small desk filled with maps of nearby places to play. My home for the last 34 years; I have put care, love and abundance in creating a magical garden with surprises throughout. My desire to provide charm and delight has driven most of the details that also includes a pergola that has a swinging twin bed and chairs to gather and chat. There is gorgeous outdoor lighting for at night and hanging chandelier at night surrounded in the deep of summer with mature jasmine bushes that waft their sweet scent from May into September.

Waterfall Sanctuary is a hidden gem on 17 acres, bordered on two sides by the Gifford Pinchot N F. In the heart of the Columbia River Gorge just outside Carson, Washington. It's home to a mini-farm with goats, ducks, & chickens. Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River with a swimming hole, & a short distance further to the Pacific Crest Trail.
A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River.
Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property.
Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. We are as off grid & sustainable as possible- while no electricity or running water is available at the individual sites, we provide battery or solar operated lighting, a container of water for each site.

My stay at the Bunkhouse was an incredibly rejuvenating stay beyond my expectations! Kymberlie and her family are the loveliest people, and made me feel so welcomed and comfortable for my weekend away. The bunkhouse itself exudes a cozy and nurturing energy that just welcomes you to sink right in and enjoy the peaceful environment - with so many comfy areas to sit and hang out, a cloud-like bed, and all the amenities needed to prepare food and coffee. It was lovely to walk through the trails on their land, and soak in the beautiful gardens tended with so much care! I took a weekend offline and never wanted to come back 😅 For me, this place inspires creative energy and a return to my soul. I feel so grateful for the opportunity to spend time out here in this little slice of paradise, thank you again so, so much! 💚🌸

Weekend Trip to Garden & Galaxy PDX Urban Retreat
Shannon’s garden felt like a magical hidden urban escape. We were right in the heart of Portland with an easy drive to anywhere we wanted to go. The backyard cottage was very private and relaxing - but we spent most of our time there sitting in the garden enjoying it. We loved meeting Danny the dog and Shannon’s food and coffee recommendations (of which we used one for every meal during our stay) knocked it out of the park. Her hospitality was the difference between Portland as a stopover for us and a vacation stop we wish we’d had more time at. Definitely recommend!

Trent's place was absolutely magical. The property is private and beautifully forested, with the perfect balance of sunny spots and woody retreats. The twinkle lights and tiki torches created such a warm, inviting ambiance in the evenings, and the entire space felt perfectly set to help guests relax and unwind.
The accommodations were thoughtfully and simply outfitted. We appreciated the provided firewood, cooler and ice, stove, and just the right selection of kitchen essentials to make coffee and fresh scrambled eggs, generously provided by the chickens who live up the hill. The decor was rustic and charming, the bed was comfortable, and everything felt cozy without sacrificing any of the natural ambiance.
The wood-fired hot tub was the highlight of our stay. Trent had it warmed up and ready for us when we arrived, and we made great use of it throughout our visit. It was such a special touch and made the experience feel truly memorable.
The land itself is stunning. My girls loved exploring, lounging, and enjoying the freedom of being immersed in nature. The property strikes that rare balance of feeling wonderfully wild and peaceful while still offering enough thoughtful amenities to feel pampered.
Trent was an exceptional host. He communicated clearly, was friendly and helpful whenever needed, and also gave us plenty of privacy to enjoy the space on our own.
We loved every minute of our stay and will absolutely be booking again. Highly recommended!

I have nothing but lovely things to say about my stay at Brian’s cabin! Such a simple and functional space, it felt very clean and straightforward. Comfy furniture & they had anything you’d need for basic cooking. Shower was lovely and there were space heaters available for use, lots of space for my dog to sniff & explore. Brian was friendly and all instructions were very straightforward and easy to understand. Incredible stay, especially at its price point. I would recommend to anybody as well as go back 😌

This was a very beautiful place! 6 out of 5 starts highly recommend! Instructions were clear. We had a very informative welcome introduction from Brian to go over the grounds and cabins uniqueness.
The cabin is tucked away from view of the main house which provides a cute romantic little bubble. Very pet friendly, excited to bring my dog on the next go around.
They provided a fun variety of games and some good old CD classic music.
So glad they had a selection of coffee since we forgot ours lol

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin and truly appreciated the serenity and peaceful atmosphere of the property. One of our favorite parts was simply walking the land and taking in the quiet surroundings! The cabin was thoughtfully prepared with many amenities that made the stay comfortable and relaxing — even small touches like having ice ready in the cooler were greatly appreciated. Everything was very clean and well maintained, including the composting toilet and shower, which exceeded our expectations. Overall, it was a relaxing and memorable getaway, and we would absolutely stay here again.

The cabin and grounds were absolutely lovely. We needed some relaxing downtime and this fit our needs to a tee. It was great to hike around the trails behind the cabin. The cabin was very comfortable and has everything we needed to cook our meals. We have a a very shy reactive dog and she had a wonderful time with so much isolated space. We will definitely return.

Blackberry Cabin offers a perfect slice of solitude! The peace that came from listening to rain pattering on the roof and the wind chimes singing softly along with the warblers and sparrows was the perfect anecdote to the stress and business of everyday life. My dog, Abby, and I loved the off-leash walks on the trails among the birches! The cabin is wonderfully cozy and beautifully designed- the detailing on the ceiling of the bed nook was especially lovely. The cabin is outfitted with all the essentials- all I needed was my clothes and toothbrush! Brian is an excellent host. He made me feel very welcome on his property, showed me around the cabin, and then the place was mine to enjoy for the rest of my stay. I’m looking forward to returning sometime soon!

Weekend Trip to Fern Haus
We had an amazing time. There was cute little witchy trinkets hanging through the trees. Only 20 min from Hillsboro. We went and explored some of my childhood areas. Came back to a beautiful and stormy night. Watching the lighting and thunder roll. I did bring a pop up came in handy. Bathrooms were clean. Tried to get the hot water for a shower to last longer than a few minutes but I just sudds and rinsed. It works ok. The property had plenty wood. The creek was beautiful. Waking up to the chickens was nice. All in all great stay beautiful property. Bring a cooler no fridge. Spot for kids to jump on trampoline and swing. Very cool place. I would highly recommend. Nice to unplug and unwind.
