Sugar shack was well placed (next to a small creek with a mini waterfall... Wouldn't be surprised if the water flow is 14 gallons per minute for the waterfall)... There are trails to walk on, which is a positive.

This is our third time staying at Jim and Sharon's place, and it won't be our last. There are so many quaint Ohio towns to check out within 15 to 30 minutes of the campsite. But the campsite is so perfect, you may not even want to leave for your entire visit. Stop reading reviews and book it! You won't regret it.

Weekend Trip to GloryField Hospitality Farm

Even with the best of lodging, I feel like there's always that one thing that could've made it better- "it was a wonderful cabin EXCEPT FOR..." But honestly, our time at Fruitdale Farms was perfect across the board. The space is gorgeous with so many lovely little things to see (bee hives, inoculated mushrooms logs, trails, a nice little pond with koi). And the Little Fern Cabin was so very perfect and cute. We both thought the bed was amazingly comfortable and were charmed by all the care put into the decor. The gazebo kitchen was one of the best kitchen spaces we've used - so well-stocked with everything you could possibly need in the way of spices, utensils, cookware, etc - any time we thought of something we'd forgotten to bring, it was already there. We also loved that the kitchen was its own space in a revamped aviary. There was easy access to firewood and some tomato and berry plants for sale. We loved our time at the sauna. The printouts they leave for guests detailing places nearby to visit were so helpful - we wouldn't have known about the floating bridge/beaver dam trail if not for that (since it's not officially open and they're still working on the adjacent trail), and it was phenomenal. We also enjoyed the visits of the charming farm-cat Tangie who spent time with us in the mornings and evenings and was the sweetest little love-bug. Thank you again, Aimee, for all the love and care you put into your place. We very much look forward to coming again.

The tent and bathroom setup worked great for us! The shower is 1/2 mile from tent, right by the parking spot. We did not use it or look at it. Toilet is near tent. Super private tent and toilet set up The walk isn't bad and you can use her barn wagon to haul your things if you aren't trying to keep your stuff super clean....worked for us! The friendly host met us upon arrival and told us where to go, super communicable and available if you should need any help. The fishing pond is incredible- you will likely catch smaller large mouth bass but also a couple other types. We caught 10 fish in 2.5 hrs, fishing in the evening and around 10am. Our son had a blast. Even on a cold night, the tent on the hill was suprisingly warm, so I'd rather stay here in milder weather since I'm hot natured. Bring bug spray for ticks if you plan on walking around a lot. Stay out of tall grasses. She gave us an extra bed and bedding for the three of us to sleep comfortable and that took up the whole tent. But our large dog could fit to sleep on the floor at the front entrance with tent zipped shut. There's board games, fire pit and tons of fire wood, grill, drinking water, and water for bathroom sink. Hope this helps someone to book here! Would stay again. Enjoy!

this farm has been on my Hipcamp wishlist for a while now. finally, everything lined up to get to sneak away for a parts of three days to celebrate our nine year anniversary. off-grid and disconnected enough to have some peace, but just enough cell signal to handle life as needs arise. everything is beautiful + well thought out. the other cabin and camp sites looked adorable. but I’m very grateful we got to experience sugar shack. it was nestled back in the woods with plenty of privacy. the trails are well marked. and everywhere you look are little pockets of love + intention from Aimee’s hands. you can tell how well she loves the land here. the woods are rich with life. fungi, wildflowers, 17 year cicadas, her chickens, cats, and fish. the sauna was a real treat. the pond was fun to play in, some of the fish even let me pet them. I went to the sauna and alternated from sauna to shower, as it instructed, and felt a deep sense of peace. the walk back to the cabin was perfect. the cabin itself has everything basic you’ll need for coziness and meals and lighting. it’s so charming. every aspect of life there became so dear, however brief. if I have one singular thing that could be improved, it’s the shower attached to the host residence. my husband is horribly afraid of spiders. and the biggest wolf (?) spider stared him down in there preventing his time there to be as magical as mine. bugs and spiders are expected. but may be good to keep up on. see you next year!

We loved camping at Fruitdale Farms. It was nice to have the shelter for the brief rain our first night. The entire property was clean and well maintained. We took advantage of the sauna and explored the nature trails.

Weekend Trip to Forested area, and wetlands

The Sugar Shack was the perfect getaway!! We stayed warm by the wood burning stove, sat on the porch to bird watch, and explored the trails around Fruitdale Farm. With all the amenities offered, we didn’t miss being “on” grid at all. We hope to be back someday!

This cabin and the land was a perfect place to relax and explore. The trails through the forest to the cabin are very nice, and the cabin itself was clean and well stocked with supplies. The provided trash cans made things much easier regarding clean up/ pack out. The hosts thought of everything to make this an enjoyable stay, thanks again!

Aimee is a wonderful steward of her woods, land, gardens, pond, creatures, chicken and bees. She is approachable and very accommodating. Her property is beautiful, well cared for and well kept up. We absolutely loved our stay, our time was too short to explore the surrounding areas or to enjoy the sauna ~ we will be back! Our stay at Fruitdale farm was idyllic! Such a great getaway from life. Aimee had super clear instructions that made check in and departure a breeze. Walking around her land and exploring her recommended local trails felt like a sanctuary. The A-frame offered a wonderful in-between for people like me who aren't ready to fully commit to camping in a tent. I still got the outdoorsy experience of a latrine, no electricity, and no running water, but after a day of hiking, nothing felt better than to lay on the super comfortable bed. PS would highly recommend the Cedar Run Trailhead with the Highlands Nature Sanctuary. It was a relaxing hike, with so much beautiful moss, greenery, and a breath-taking waterfall.

I love the Fern Cabin. It stays toasty on the cold nights. The sunset is over the farm is always gorgeous. The gazebo kitchen is the perfect mix of indoor and outdoor. And Aimee is an awesome host!

2 nights at Rustic Retreat

I loved staying at Rustic Reteat! The property is beautiful and Ro wet was a generous host. I don't do the traditional tent camping but I stead have decked out my car for camping with a hatchback tent. Robert had a space for me to pull my car into and stay for the week. Since it was the "off season" I happened to be the only camper here, so it was very quiet. It was also provided an extension cord to be able to hook up my electric and stay comfortably during the last of the winter weather. I highly recommend staying here. The airstreams that are available to stay in look beautiful and are situated to give privacy for any camper.

This was our second trip to Fruitdale farm and it was just as fun! Though it was the off season and very cold while we were there, we stayed warm in the Fern Cabin. We used the kitchen for dinner and breakfast and had a wonderful time outside. We used the sauna and shower twice to stay warm and they were both amazing and relaxing. The trails and bathroom were well maintained and easy to find. Previously we stayed in the fall and got to see the garden and chickens so we did miss those on our trip this winter. We can’t wait to go back this spring/summer!

Aimee’s land is so beautiful and peaceful. The Sugar Shack cabin was a perfect weekend getaway for my partner and I. The cabin has everything you could need, and we can’t wait to come back! I want to make a stay at the Sugar Shack a seasonal occurrence at the very least! Aimee is so inspirational in the way that she’s built a sustainable farmstead and we are looking to do the very same!

Came for a romantic Valentine's Day getaway and the sugar shack did not disappoint. The cabin is cozy, and the wood burning stove keeps it plenty warm, even in February! It was great to getaway from the hustle of living in downtown Cincinnati and disconnect for a weekend. The tiny town of Bainbridge is very quaint and offers traditional small town Ohio charm. If you stop in, I recommend the coffee shop at the theater and walking through the antique store (it's huge!) Excited to come back and stay in the summer and check out the nearby nature preserves!

Weekend Trip to The Oasis

I had a lovely solo winter escape at the sugar shack cabin. The cabin had everything I needed and was cozy and warm. Listening to the water running in the creek just outside while having coffee was so grounding. I loved hiking Barrett's rim trail and Kamelands trail, and afterward getting a warm pretzel sandwich from the Amish bakery. Highly recommend the sugar shack cabin for a solo or couple's getaway!

Such a cute space! Love that there is electricity and heat. We were super cozy and even got a little hot at night. The cabinette is right by the road but never heard a car it's a very low traffic space. The river was just steps away and made me want to come back when I could get in. So cute that it's on a bike path. It was snowed over for us and difficult to walk on fast but definitely a bonus. Also love that this is a one night availability. Host was super responsive and thought of everything. This is on the top of my list to revisit! Thank you #kentuckyhotwine
