There are no large cities anywhere around here. My family moved here in 1957 and I purchased it from my father in 1975. This small farm is 7 acres of the original 25 my great grandmother purchased for her family in 1934. Guests can enjoy the cabin as well as the barn, which has been converted to a rec area. Make our home and green space yours for a few days. Camp in comfort in our "little cabin in the woods." Accommodates up to six guests, with a queen-sized bed, a futon and two low single beds in the loft, accessible only by ladder. Kids 6 and older may sleep in the loft-- just like Laura and Mary-- and they can read a chapter of one of Laura Ingalls' "Little House" books before bed! The Camp Cabin contains a small refrigerator, microwave and gas fireplace (no, the pioneers didn’t have that!). Fresh eggs and other snacks are provided for breakfast. The restroom and shower are located in the walkout basement of the farmhouse, a 40 yard walk from the Cabin. The restroom has a private entrance and is used only by guests during their stay. Pet and feed goats and other farm animals. Enjoy fun activities on the farm and in the barn.

2 nights at Barrel Run Creek

Very secluded spot. Nice camp site. You are next to train tracks. Train came through about three times a night. Other than that it was quiet. Was provided plenty of firewood. I would recommend the site.

2 nights at Bill S. and Nancy's property

We parked our short bus at the hill top and had the most RESTFUL stay with Bill and Nancy. No one else had booked the weekdays we stayed and it was such a treat to enjoy the sounds of turkeys, birds, and gentle rain all to ourselves. Having the flushable toilet on site was wonderful (rare to find). The hilltop felt private as could be. We enjoyed fires for 2 nights with the bundle provided, and there was still a bit left. Pokeberries abundant for painters! Bill and Nancy are kind, considerate, and have a lovely kept home and property. We were beside ourself with the peace we felt during our stay and will definitely try to stop back on our way home. There's a rifle range in the distance but for a person who struggles with PTSD, the sounds were few and far between, and distant. For as many stays as I've come across this, it was entirely manageable 🩷 appreciation to bill for the heads up when we arrived/met.

Thus is my favorite hipcamp mainly because of no leash on you dog. Back story we got a dog we love the dog we bought a camper so we can take her when we travel. We live near Pittsburgh and there are 3 hipcamps that have no leash Bill and Nancy's, one near Harrisburg one somewhere in middle Ohio.

Weekend Trip to Private Pond Camping

This campsite is easy to find. We parked close to pond with electric hookup. She had a canoe for us but we never used it. Fishing was good. Nice quiet place. Lots of paved trails to walk on. Would definitely recommend going here.
