Joe was very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the areas history, which was very interesting to learn about. The campsite was well maintained and thoughtfully laid out. Campsites are extremely close to towpath access (basically next to it) and close by to the river so you do not have to go far for outdoor recreation. Will be back soon!

We had a wonderful time staying at Bill and Nancy’s Hipcamp! While our site was up against the garage and not a traditional scenic campsite that we are used to, the location was excellent and worked well for our stay. The real highlight was the warm hospitality—Bill and Nancy are fantastic hosts who made us feel welcome from the start. Their property is peaceful, and we appreciated the convenience of being close to everything we wanted to explore. It was a great spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy the surroundings. If you’re looking for a simple, quiet place with friendly hosts, this is a great option!

1 night at The Camp Cabin at the Hallstead

Donna’s Hallstead Camp Cabin was exactly what I needed—a quiet, peaceful place to rest during a work trip. Even in February, the cabin was warm, comfortable, and had everything I needed for some simple indoor cooking. The bed was cozy, and the cabin itself was beautiful. Though I didn’t get to use the fire pit due to rain, it would have made for a great evening. I fell asleep in complete silence and woke up to the soothing sound of rain on the roof—absolute perfection. The pathway back to the cabin is easy to navigate, and the setting is just so peaceful. I may return with my family one day to enjoy it even more!

Wonderful little cabin. The hosts were also very accommodating and one can tell that they have been doing this for a while, because all was explained before hand and nothing was needed. I definitely recommend. If the opportunity arises, I would consider coming back.

Despire typically not being open during the winter, the hosts went out of their way to accommodate us for a winter camping trip. The camp was nice and clean, although a bit muddy. What are you going to do though? Its winter, its always muddy no matter where you go. I bet it would be a blast to come back during the summer - swim in the lake, enjoy the facilities to their fullest. The hosts are good fun as well. We enjoyed some brief, yet fun conversation. They were very responsive and flexible as well. If we needed something, we got a response ASAP. If you're looking for a winter Hip Camp all to yourself, message the hosts and see if it's the right fit for you! We had a blast.

Bill and Nancy were the best hosts! We camped at their property for 2 nights in late December 2025. Bill communicated clearly from the get go and made sure we had all the info we need to find the property and have a comfortable experience. He took extra steps to ensure that we could use their outdoor flushable toilet even during the winter. Bill made sure to check in on us and ensure that we were setup right and comfortable for the winter camping experience. He also provided us with plenty of firewood to make sure that we were warm and comfortable for the whole stay. Thanks to Bill and Nancy’s hospitality, we had an awesome first winter camping trip. We highly recommended this place and look forward to coming back in the future!

I came this Christmastime because of a review about Christmastime 2023. Donna goes all out with tasteful holiday decor. The flames from the very adequate heater add to the charm. I was lucky to get a dusting of snow. I never met Donna, but this is a show of trust and respect for privacy. The guestbooks confirm that this is also a special place for couples and children.

Eighteen Acres, In Grove City

Eighteen Acres is conveniently postured near I-79 (3 minutes) / I-80 (5 minutes), The Grove City Outlets (4 minutes), Big Rail Brewing (30 seconds), and Keystone Safari (10 seconds). We sit at the midpoint between Grove City College (8 minutes) and Slippery Rock University (9 minutes). Today, you'll see the property offers a single RV site (with 50/30amp electric hookup and water) for those looking to escape the city and find reprieve in the country. Lord willin', more RV and camp sites will be on the way! We intend to be available May 1st to October 31st (weather pending). Pricing is about $40+ less (nightly) than the KOA! Plus you get a huge space. There is no bath house, sewer/dump station (for black/gray water), or showers at this time, but you'll see we are working towards those things. With good planning and if you prefer, we can be there to help you set up. The site will be clearly marked, and there is more than enough room to back in/out. We can host the largest of rigs (even up to 45 feet). As you can imagine, it takes a lot of mowing to manage grounds of this size. There is a red storage building (for our mower) about 10 yards from the site that we reserve the right to access. We want the place in top shape for you, and we will not mow or weed-wack near your site during your stay. We do have three well behaved pups, and we are about 60 yards away from this site in our cabin. Sorry to say, we are not yet comfortable with guests bringing pets, but this may change soon. Must love dogs, because we do take ours throughout the property for exercise. Though you will see sewer clean outs, our system is not equipped or available for RV septic use as this time. Tampering with or attempting to use the clean outs will likely lead to a discontinuation of your stay. Please forgive us, we are working on a plan for this in the future.

This small farm is 7 acres of the original 25 my great grandmother purchased for her family in 1934. Guests can enjoy the cabin as well as the barn, which has been converted to a rec area. Make our home and green space yours for a few days. Camp in comfort in our "little cabin in the woods." Accommodates up to six guests, with a queen-sized bed, a futon and two low single beds in the loft, accessible only by ladder. Kids 6 and older may sleep in the loft-- just like Laura and Mary-- and they can read a chapter of one of Laura Ingalls' "Little House" books before bed! The Camp Cabin contains a small refrigerator, microwave and gas fireplace (no, the pioneers didn’t have that!). Fresh eggs and other snacks are provided for breakfast. Sunnyday's farm and forest was a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 30 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and woods.Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away. Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter. The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away. It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs. We provide a bunk bed and cots and 2 picnic tables.. There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents. There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin, but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures. The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk! If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover.

With over 230 acres, a lake, trails, the Grand River, and plenty of wildlife. Bass and Buck Adventures is the perfect place to get away. Once known as Parkman Gorge the valley was a hub for water powered industry in the early 1800's. The river and valley is home to a wide array of wildlife. Deer, turkey, eagles, hawks, owls, mink, river otters to name a few. The area also attracts many song birds including a wide variety of warblers. There is also an abundance of wild flowers. The valley is rich in Native American history. Many artifacts have been found on the property. My great grandfather talked about the last Native American to live in Parkman had a cabin on one of the bluffs along the river. In the 1820's there was a water powered sawmill and forge on the river. The boy scouts used the valley for a camp in the 1930's. My grandpa purchased this property in the 50's from Ohio Edison. Ohio Edison's plan to dam up the river for hydro power never materialized. The valley has been a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts. Camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, "jeeping". Many of the items used for the camp sites have been reclaimed. The fire rings are old tractor rims and scrap steel. The tent platform is from reclaimed deck lumber. The firewood is excess cutoffs purchased from a local sawmill. There is a small creek my dogs love to play in and a large field for frisbee and star gazing. There are hikes close by at Little Turtle Pond and many restaurants within 10 minutes like Woodys, NauitiVine and Magic City Brewery. After all, necessity is the mother of invention. This is our first study of building a sustainable living environment. We started with a blank slate, a new system designed with the permaculture principles in mind and the intention of ultimately creating a living space with the creature comforts we have all grown accustomed to. Eventually we will be building the next round of accommodations (principal: Small & Slow Solutions).
