Camping here was amazing! Heather and her family were very welcoming and made sure we felt comfortable on their land. Seeing all the fish in the ponds was definitely a unique experience. My family and I loved it! There was plenty of space for our 2 young boys to run and get some energy out after a long drive. Lighting a camp fire at the edge of one of the ponds on a clear night was a perfect way to end the day. Thank you Heather and family! We are already thinking of a time when we can return to enjoy your land once again.

2 nights at Uncle Chuck's Cabin

We loved everything about our stay at Uncle Chucks Cabin. While it is a primitive space, there was nothing at all we needed that could have made our stay any better. We spent 2 days enjoying our kayaks and fishing the river with all the comforts of a well appointed cabin. If you have the chance be sure to check out the Canal Experience just down the road for a boat ride and a trip through the last working canal lock in Ohio.

Some friends and I took tent sites 1, 2, and 3 along the river with our sons, and it was great! We had a fantastic time, fishing and exploring the river. The hosts were attentive and accommodating. We would definitely go back.

This was one of my best Hipcamp experiences. It is a completely wild and natural setting. You have all the room you could want and access to a natural pond by your camp site. Mary is an informative and kind host as well. The Grove of large oak trees is spectacular on the "stoic oak" trail. Look forward to stopping in again.

2 nights at Rusty's Retreat with pond and river

We stayed on site 3 with our one year old and our dog for our first camping adventure since our baby was born. It was exactly what we needed—beautiful, peaceful, and also very convenient. Jay and Heather’s hospitality for a campsite was better than most Airbnbs I’ve stayed! If you’re daunted by lugging your camping gear into a spot marked “secluded”—don’t be. They helped us move everything we needed in a golf cart (and we brought a lot because of our baby). I loved birdwatching and listening. My husband loved fishing and walking in the river. Our baby loved to the ponies and Rusty. Our dog loved meeting another dog friend! We cannot wait to come back! Even if site 3 isn’t right for your family or setup, I guarantee you one of the other spots will be!

My family (me, my husband and 3 kids - 1yo, 3yo, 5yo) had a wonderful stay. The space is peaceful and secluded. It is very thoughtfully cared for from having a picnic table and trashcan onsite to the cleanest portapotty I've ever come across. We will definitely be back!

My stay was just a quick sleep and depart, but for the few hours I was there, I felt safe and my dogs had plenty of room to run around in. Although it was dark, it seemed very clean and peaceful. Would definitely stay again if given the opportunity.

We loved camping out here! It was super peaceful and nice. There was only two down falls (weather sucked big time but it gave us more time to spend quality time together, and the grass is really long and unfortunately my mother in law did find a tick in her ear, we would highly recommend trimming it often to prevent any further issues). Otherwise Joshua and Rachael were amazing! They tried to help us with the shower issue we had but due to weather and our hot water tank going it didn’t work out, but we managed! They offered to give us info on local spots etc. overall just an incredible experience. We would definitely camp here again!

Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Lexi and Little Bits can be visited while they graze in the pasture. There are chickens and Brindle the barn kitty. We have the perfect place for dogs as well. We have four dogs that get along great with others and our fenced pond keeps them safe.

Good Knights Reserve is located in Union County, Ohio just on the outskirts of Marysville. With a total of 60 acres, you'll have nothing but peace and privacy on the back 15 acres of the property. A 1/2 mile drivable path will take you to the one site currently offered. Here you can pitch your tent, build a campfire, catch and release a few fish from the pond, or choose to sit on the floating dock with your feet in the water. A shooting range for target practice is available or take a short walk through the wooded trail. The camp site sits next to a wooded wetland so you'll fall asleep to the sound of croaking frogs and various other creatures communicating back and forth. A clean porta-john is close by and a small charcoal grill and picnic table with seating for 8 is available. The Marysville Upground Reservoir is just 2.4 miles down the road for more outside activities. There's also a dog friendly winery and brewery 2 miles away. Marysville boasts 5 golf courses and has several quaint bakeries and boutiques in the uptown area. Come visit Union County and discover the unique history behind its 7 covered bridges then return to Good Knights Reserve for smores around the campfire and a peaceful night's sleep.
