Troutman is a very quaint southern town very close to Mooresville, NC. It is smack in the middle of Charlotte and Hickory! So you can enjoy the mountains or the city or both from ONE LOCATION!! We are within driving distance to Lowe's Motor speedway and very close to many race teams located in Mooresville.
The downtown of Troutman is a short drive from your camp spot and there is a grocery store, drug store and many privately owned restaurants, including Italian, German and amazing fried chicken at Julia's! There is an ice cream parlor too!! Another wonderful asset to Troutman is Daveste' Vineyard where there is live music often, and of course wine tastings! This beautiful vineyard is less than 10 mins away.

Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic.
While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.'
When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends.
Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind.
LOCAL ACTIVITIES:
To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away.
15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking.
Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away.
Heading east, you can find several fine wineries and vineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town.
About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday.
To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public.
To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river.
There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages.
Merlefest, the last weekend of April, a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town.

My Neighbor has started his own Campsite, "The Swimming Hole". If mine is booked and you still want to camp, look him up. He is better suited for small groups and has more privacy.
Easy drive right to the campsite
There is plenty of soft sand to set up one tent or ten tents; large groups are welcome for an extra fee.
A Porta-Potty is available at the campsite.
Swimming is usually possible at the base of the falls; however, the weather can change conditions and make it unusable.
I should also add that this is not completely private. The camp is visible from a shared driveway, and my residence is up a hill that overlooks the area. Also, I do not own the land on the other side of the stream. Occasionally, the owners of that land will also end a weekend afternoon enjoying the waterfall view

Update on Fire ban: I spoke with the forest ranger of Yadkin County, and You ARE allowed SMALL campfires for cooking and heating purposes only. No bonfires. Charcoal and propane grills are OK too.
Please respect our land by not bringing firewood from off-site and burning it here. We are a working farm that allows camping, not a campground. Our native trees and crops could easily be devastated by outside diseases or pests that are carried in firewood. We offer firewood for sale from our farm (delivered to your site for no additional fee). You do NOT have to purchase it prior to your arrival, and we have large tubs too!
Our STORE offers firewood, meats, eggs, Tallow, lard (both rendered right here!), drinks, Amish ice cream and jams/jellies/preserves, hammocks, hammock chairs, smoked dog bones, soaps (made right here), rentals of: cast iron cookware, a tent, Coleman stove, fishing poles, ... and MUCH MORE!

Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground was a tobacco farm (antique tobacco barn still on property). The house was built in 1910 and has been updated. We purchased it in 2014 and converted it into a vineyard.
We have RV sites with 50 amp and 30 amp electric hookups and water, and tents sites. For 2023 our rates are $30/night for RV Sites (50 amp or 30 amp electric hookups and water) and $25/night for Tent Sites. Tent sites do not have electricity or water hookups, but water is available at the well. (Due to inflation, 2024 our rates will be $30/night for RV Sites, $25/night for Tent Sites.) We do not have a dump station, but we do have a Port A John
and a list of dump stations nearby.
Campfires are allowed unless we have a state issued burning ban. Campers are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires. Please be extremely careful during dry or drought conditions.
Conveniently located one mile from Hwy 421 but remote and peaceful with plenty of room to roam on our 22 acres with grapevines, fruit trees, forest, creeks, fields, goats, Beagle and Jackabee (Beagle/Jack Russell) dogs, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. Also, we have wildlife such as birds, squirrels, groundhogs, deer, raccoons, opossums, etc. We are about 15 miles from Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro (home of the Merle Fest and Apple Festival). Eden Oaks is 18 miles from W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir, 24 miles from Stone Mt. State Park, and 10 miles from Elkin (sponsors of the Wine Festival and Pumpkin Festival).

This property is 180 acres of woods and mountains with streams and ponds.
Beautiful settings. If you like hiking in the mountains this will definitely hit the spot. You can fish in the ponds it has blue gills and catfish. I also added grass carp there as part of weed management.
This used to be an abandoned farm which I want to bring back to life.
The site offers three luxury large Safari Style Tents that are all separate and private.
This is not a KOA style of camping where everyone is on top of each other.
All tents are far away from each other to provide privacy and freedom of going Wild (still remaining civilized in your manners and careful attitude to Nature around you).
Tent 1 is in the Forrest itself and it is pretty cool and serene.
Tent 2 is on the top of a rocky hill overlooking the forest.
Tent 3 is the most remote and closest to the ponds. It has most of the open space around it, and can be a great place for parties.
We are working on making the sites and the area more comfortable, but I do not want to make it a manicured park. I want it to remain wild and still offer comfortable stay.
The farm is work in progress.
The closest town - Lenoir is about 12 miles away . Closest Grocery store (Dollar General) - about 3 miles away. Closest Gas station - 2 miles away.
Professional Tennis court, Basketball court and large kids playground are in a public park within - 5 minute drive.
Lenoir has restaurants, shopping, etc.
Hickory is a larger town about 25 minutes drive. Hickory Lake is a large reservoir with marina where you can rent a boat and it also offers a good game fishing.
Nice swimming beach access on Lake Hickory 13 miles ( 20 Minutes) from here: Lake Hickory Wittenburg access area (Wittenburg Access Area, 175 Wildlife Access Rd, Hickory, NC 28601)
Asheville is 1:25 hrs to the West, Charlotte is 1:25 hr to the East.

Eden oaks was great. Very peaceful property. The big trees in the camper spot offer lots of shade for summer camping. Camp spot was well maintained with good water and a good 30 amp hook up. There was level ground to get our pop-up camper position perfectly. The hosts were very welcoming and kind and had a great information about the area. I would definitely recommend the spot to anybody wanting to stay in the Elkin area.

This spot was lovely, and the hosts were great! The bathroom/shower house was very clean and well maintained, and the view of the mountains from the campsite was gorgeous. We were only there for two nights, but the area is also set up to accommodate longer visits with more people, so we'll definitely be back with friends for a longer trip in the future.

Our site was lovely and shaded, right next to a 100 year old tobacco barn! We had a great weekend at Hidden Oasis! The property is easy to find and owners have put in a lot of effort to make it a nice little campground. We enjoyed having a bathroom and warm shower nearby. Also took advantage of the pavilion with the picnic table to eat at. It was nice and quiet as we were fortunate enough to be the only ones there that weekend. There was a bit of poison ivy around the site / area but for the most part the tent grass was free from this. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved the farm! The views were beautiful. My boyfriend loved fishing in the pond. I enjoyed running around the farms trail, and getting acquainted with the animals. Our site was pond B and it was perfect with plenty of space! There was no one close by, so it felt like we had the area to ourselves. We plan to return we liked it so much!

We had the best time tent camping at Mrs. Cheryl’s! We felt that our two boys (ages 3 and 8) were very safe to play in the creek, which they did endlessly. My big boy caught several small creek chub and other fish down there (along with tons of frogs and toads and crawdads!) Campsite 10 was perfect for a quick weekend camp out, especially since our little one has only camped with us once. We really enjoyed the farm fresh breakfast sausage and eggs (definitely get you some!) and Molly the donkey was fun to feed as well. We did not use the bath house but it looked and smelled clean both times my kids peeked in. Overall just a really sweet weekend! Thankful that this farming family is willing to share their beautiful land with us. (We even got to see the tractors cut, bale, and stack hay which of course my 3 year old LOVED!) We will be back for sure!

This was one of the most meaningful and relaxing trips I’ve taken in a very long time.
I booked this stay because I wanted a quiet weekend away from screens, schedules, and the constant rush of everyday life. What I found was so much more than a campsite. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed. Cheryl was incredibly kind, genuine, and thoughtful, and it was obvious how much care they all put into both the property and the animals.
One of my favorite parts of the stay was simply slowing down. I spent time walking around the farm, visiting with the animals, listening to the frogs in the evenings, watching the fireflies after dark, and enjoying the peaceful rhythm of the land. There is something special about sitting quietly and hearing nature instead of traffic and endless distractions.
The animals were wonderful, and you can tell they are well cared for and loved. Being able to wake up, enjoy a cup of coffee, and spend time around them added so much to the experience. It felt authentic, peaceful, and grounding in a way that is difficult to describe unless you’ve experienced it yourself.
As a solo traveler, I also want to mention how safe and comfortable I felt during my stay. That matters a great deal to me, and it allowed me to fully relax and enjoy the experience. The property was clean, welcoming, and exactly as described.

Weekend Trip to The Oasis at Harmon Creek Farms
Cheryl’s property is absolutely stunning, so peaceful and private! We enjoyed how spacious our campsite was and all of the amenities. Fishing in the pond was a highlight as well as their adorable store filled with goodies that are homemade. Cheryl was so responsive whenever we needed something or had questions and her entire family was so friendly and welcoming! Out of our group of 9 people, every one of us said we’d be back. Thank you Cheryl and your family for such an amazing weekend!

We found this campsite to be spacious, comfortable, quiet and very peaceful. We enjoyed just looking at the view of a field and trees. Our hosts were welcoming and the location was easy to find. We recommend this site highly.

Sandra & Randy have done a beautiful job creating and maintaining this small campground. Nice, shady site with gravel, fire ring, picnic table and gravity chairs. Super clean real flush potty with sink & shower in adjoining space. The pavilion was also clean and a great spot to do dishes with very hot water. Sandra even comes around with complimentary koozies and cooling cloths for you to take home! Wonderful spot to spend a night or two.

1 night at The Dancing Pig On Abbotts Creek
My stay at this property was truly wonderful. The space is beautiful and thoughtfully crafted, with so many touches that make it feel special. Sitting on the swing overlooking the tall trees, relaxing in the hammock, and taking a cold outdoor shower made the whole experience feel grounding and restorative. It was the perfect reset during my road trip. Natellie is a fantastic host and communicated clearly throughout my stay.
