It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks. Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations. Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us. *Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. These are our friendly neighbors that keep to themselves and do not interact with our property. If you are not comfortable driving past that, this might not be the campsite for you. This is very common in rural North Carolina. -Our campsite is for 5 people and 2 tents max. If you have more than 5 people coming please request to add additional people to your reservation. -Our bathroom has a sink, toilet and electricity. Boutique Campground in a Hidden Orchard We are a boutique campground tucked away in a hidden orchard. The well-groomed property sits on a small peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. The creeks around us contain small reds, trout, mullet, gar, and various other species. It’s great fishing for kids, and the area is known for much larger fish if you have a boat. (Note: we don’t have a boat ramp, but kayaks and paddleboards can be launched easily from shore.) The water is brackish, and locals typically don’t swim in it. We can accommodate up to eight full-size RVs in drive-through sites (up to 55' in length). Tow vehicles can be detached and parked separately. We can also host four trucks or vans up to 25' in length in back-in sites. RV slots have 50A power and water, while truck and van sites have 30A power and water. We also offer one primitive tent site, with three to four more planned, and a glamping tent coming in Spring 2026. All sites include picnic tables and fire pits, and tent campers are welcome to use RV sites. Please note there isn’t much shade, so it can get hot in the middle of summer. This may be fine for RVs, but tent campers should keep an eye on temperatures. Spring, fall, and early winter are especially pleasant — perfect for sitting around a campfire under the stars. With very little light pollution, stargazing is excellent. Small solar torches provide a soft glow at night, but we recommend bringing a flashlight for walking after dark. Our bathhouse includes toilets and sinks. We do not currently have showers, but we’re working on adding them soon. As for location, we’re only a 12-minute drive from Oriental, the sailing capital of North Carolina — a charming, friendly town of just 999 residents. Despite its small size, Oriental hosts many local events throughout the year. About 15 minutes in the other direction, you’ll find larger stores like Walmart, as well as health services, laundromats, car washes, and more. We’re pet-friendly — we have dogs ourselves — and generally very lenient. However, if there are several dogs on the property, we may ask guests to keep theirs on a leash, especially if any show signs of aggression.

You can see water from the front porch and put your boat in at the ramp in the Marshallberg Harbor. Guest access The entire house is open for your vacation getaway except the upstairs attic. Other things to note Marshallberg looks out over Core Sound and the Cape Lookout lighthouse. You will see fishing boats of all kinds going by. You can take a ferry from Harkers Island over to the lighthouse to see it up close and then cross an elevated path to the ocean side of Core Banks. Feel free to bring your own boat and put it in at the Marshallberg Harbor boat ramp. There is no charge for using the ramp.

Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Boutique Campground in a Hidden Orchard We are a boutique campground tucked away in a hidden orchard. The well-groomed property sits on a small peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. The creeks around us contain small reds, trout, mullet, gar, and various other species. It’s great fishing for kids, and the area is known for much larger fish if you have a boat. (Note: we don’t have a boat ramp, but kayaks and paddleboards can be launched easily from shore.) The water is brackish, and locals typically don’t swim in it. We can accommodate up to eight full-size RVs in drive-through sites (up to 55' in length). Tow vehicles can be detached and parked separately. We can also host four trucks or vans up to 25' in length in back-in sites. RV slots have 50A power and water, while truck and van sites have 30A power and water. We also offer one primitive tent site, with three to four more planned, and a glamping tent coming in Spring 2026. All sites include picnic tables and fire pits, and tent campers are welcome to use RV sites. Please note there isn’t much shade, so it can get hot in the middle of summer. This may be fine for RVs, but tent campers should keep an eye on temperatures. Spring, fall, and early winter are especially pleasant — perfect for sitting around a campfire under the stars. With very little light pollution, stargazing is excellent. Small solar torches provide a soft glow at night, but we recommend bringing a flashlight for walking after dark. Our bathhouse includes toilets and sinks. We do not currently have showers, but we’re working on adding them soon. As for location, we’re only a 12-minute drive from Oriental, the sailing capital of North Carolina — a charming, friendly town of just 999 residents. Despite its small size, Oriental hosts many local events throughout the year. About 15 minutes in the other direction, you’ll find larger stores like Walmart, as well as health services, laundromats, car washes, and more. We’re pet-friendly — we have dogs ourselves — and generally very lenient. However, if there are several dogs on the property, we may ask guests to keep theirs on a leash, especially if any show signs of aggression.

Other things to note Marshallberg looks out over Core Sound and the Cape Lookout lighthouse. You will see fishing boats of all kinds going by. You can take a ferry from Harkers Island over to the lighthouse to see it up close and then cross an elevated path to the ocean side of Core Banks. Feel free to bring your own boat and put it in at the Marshallberg Harbor boat ramp. There is no charge for using the ramp.

The large main bedroom has a queen bed, designated workplace, and bathroom with a soaking tub—a small bedroom houses twin bunk beds and a stacked washer/dryer. Enjoy an open kitchen/dining area and a comfortable living room. The location is great for fishing, watersports, biking, and dog walking. The space The Angler’s Retreat is adjacent to Captain Brown’s Farmhouse, another recently renovated Airbnb that can sleep six people. Both Airbnb’s can be rented to accommodate larger groups. Boutique Campground in a Hidden Orchard We are a boutique campground tucked away in a hidden orchard. The well-groomed property sits on a small peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. The creeks around us contain small reds, trout, mullet, gar, and various other species. It’s great fishing for kids, and the area is known for much larger fish if you have a boat. (Note: we don’t have a boat ramp, but kayaks and paddleboards can be launched easily from shore.) The water is brackish, and locals typically don’t swim in it. We can accommodate up to eight full-size RVs in drive-through sites (up to 55' in length). Tow vehicles can be detached and parked separately. We can also host four trucks or vans up to 25' in length in back-in sites. RV slots have 50A power and water, while truck and van sites have 30A power and water. We also offer one primitive tent site, with three to four more planned, and a glamping tent coming in Spring 2026. All sites include picnic tables and fire pits, and tent campers are welcome to use RV sites. Please note there isn’t much shade, so it can get hot in the middle of summer. This may be fine for RVs, but tent campers should keep an eye on temperatures. Spring, fall, and early winter are especially pleasant — perfect for sitting around a campfire under the stars. With very little light pollution, stargazing is excellent. Small solar torches provide a soft glow at night, but we recommend bringing a flashlight for walking after dark. Our bathhouse includes toilets and sinks. We do not currently have showers, but we’re working on adding them soon. As for location, we’re only a 12-minute drive from Oriental, the sailing capital of North Carolina — a charming, friendly town of just 999 residents. Despite its small size, Oriental hosts many local events throughout the year. About 15 minutes in the other direction, you’ll find larger stores like Walmart, as well as health services, laundromats, car washes, and more. We’re pet-friendly — we have dogs ourselves — and generally very lenient. However, if there are several dogs on the property, we may ask guests to keep theirs on a leash, especially if any show signs of aggression.

Enjoy this unique and family/pet-friendly home. Captain Claude Brown built this charming farmhouse in 1945 for his bride Belle. The Brown family is very well-known in Marshallberg, NC. The road and an island are named after them! The farmhouse was lovingly renovated in 2023 and is ready for guests, both 2-legged and 4-legged! There is a water view from the front porch, the Marshallberg Harbor and boat ramp are a 1/2 mile away, and a doggy door leads to a fun fenced-in area for Fido! The space There are three bedrooms and two full bathrooms, one with a bathtub. The kitchen is completely renovated with adorable, retro appliances that work like the best modern appliances out there. There is a large 60 inch television in the beautifully-furnished living room, and a relaxing sunroom that faces the distinguished old barn. The doggie door leads out to a perfectly fenced area of the backyard where your dog can run and play safely. The neighborhood is very dog friendly and there is a nice 1 mile walk around the block. You can see water from the front porch and put your boat in at the ramp in the Marshallberg Harbor. Guest access The entire house is open for your vacation getaway except the upstairs attic. Other things to note Marshallberg looks out over Core Sound and the Cape Lookout lighthouse. You will see fishing boats of all kinds going by. You can take a ferry from Harkers Island over to the lighthouse to see it up close and then cross an elevated path to the ocean side of Core Banks. Feel free to bring your own boat and put it in at the Marshallberg Harbor boat ramp. There is no charge for using the ramp.

Nice area quiet and well kept. everything you need to set up camp. The pad is a little quirky. Your power is on one side of the pad and water and sewer are on the other side. The pad I guessing is 36 feet wide, So you need to park according to how much cable or water line you have.I parked near the power so I had to run 25 ft of sewer line. and it goes up hill at the end so you had to walk out the drain line , There seems to be 2 inlets you need to look around for the lower one it is hidden in the grass. the other inlet sticks up so high it was difficult to get a good drane . both 50 and 30 amp are available. The water is Ocracoke water, I Never did like it You might want to bring bottle water , Although there is no problem with the water it is safe to use , I just don't like the water anywhere on the Island. no picnic table or trash cans. You can deposit trash at the trash depot next to the post office. Not far from town so community store is just a few minutes away as well as Restaurants and shops. If I keep RVing I will be back .

The entire rental lodgings were made to look & feel like a outdoor camp or retreat being it was along a pristine tidewater creek. We had an amazing time! The RV was beautiful! It had everything you might need. You could bring your clothes and food and you'd be all set! The screened in deck was perfect!! We spent our time playing cards on our deck, cooking food, fishing from the floating dock, taking out the paddle boat and fishing from it, (there are also kayaks available) star gazing in the provided zero gravity chairs, and napping. Riz, the host, was a super cool guy!! A couple of the days there were a couple different campers nearby, yet it was still so quiet and felt private. We can't wait to come back! We plan to bring my boyfriends 14 year old son and his friend and we will rent the tent on the water for them, and the rv for us! They will love it!! Thank you Riz for an amazing stay your property you have built is impressive to say the least!

It had just enough rustic flavor to feel like you were camping out in the woods over the water, but still had a shower and a toilet you could use which made it easier with a kid. The campsites have perfect waterfront views. Even with all three occupied they are still offer some privacy and plenty of room to spread your gear around. Bring your canoe or kayak. There is water access. The sites were free from litter. Not even a speck was found. There are benches around the fire pits and a picnic table provided. Well-seasoned hardwood firewood is available on site for a nominal fee. A non-potable water well with a pump is available between sites 1 and 2. There are several trails available also. All were on the provided map at the gate. They were maintained and very well marked with signage and color coded ribbons. Even though it’s secluded and VERY dark at night, a locked gate behind us gave us a sense of security. We knew no one was going to trouble us. The host was very communicative. Even though we didn’t require assistance, we knew she was available and eager to help. She provided very detailed maps to the farm and to the camp sites. Follow the instructions and you can’t mess it up. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there, it was so peaceful, and look forward to our next visit.
